That is a good point. Nothing says 'hardcore' like Warhammer 40,000 and Darksiders :p. WiiU exclusives, while I don't want, could even push me to buy one.
I think that Nintendo would be very concerned about their image. If they did somehow acquire THQ, it's unlikely they'll allow sequels of those games to be made.

Ubisoft has ups and downs, but they're still not that terrible of a company. Yeah DRM, but still, some of their games are pretty awesome, like Far Cry 3, the Anno series, Assassin's Creed 2, etc. They have some classics. I'm not completely super happy about this, but I'm not too upset either.

D'awww, missed opportunity then. Warhammer 40,000 Kart Racing? No?

I don't understand how they went bankrupt. I mean THQ make great games.

Well, as a "veteran" here, I say I'll be pleased. When 3DO went bust, it was Ubisoft who stepped up and took over the Might and Magic franchise, and I'm quite happy with what they did. With the small exception that we haven't had any M&M game at all since then...but I learn to live with it. Every day. And now Ubi are planning to buy out another company. OK, I say. It's only the DRM they have that bothers me, but hopefully they have learned their lesson, as they said several months back, so it might not be as big an issue. I hope so at least. We'll see.

Not if they buy THQ and not just THQ's properties... If they bought THQ to be a part of their 2nd party Development teams, them wouldn't be concerned at all, and those sequels would be made. Remember Conker's Bad Fur Day? How about MadWorld? Red Steel? Yeah...

Ubisoft promised to stop the DRM but they have broken to many promises. Well goodbye Relic, I will miss your games.

That's hilarious.
Yep. Seriously, throw Ubisoft a bone here. They've been good for the last year and a bit, and there's no reason to believe they'll go evil again for a while.

How about Ubisoft teaches them how to manage their books, say "No" to terrible ideas, and why it's dumb to try to make a console.
In return THQ can teach them how not to piss people off--too much.

Just me... I would rather see THQ evaporate and fall on the pyre of other dissolved companies rather than have connection to UBI. Honestly, to me it means the same, I wont be playing their product so for all intents, it is really no different.

Although I'd rather THQ remain it's own entity (like the new SEGA is since they went bust recently) Ubisoft are probably the best of a bad bunch. Just don't fuck around with Relic and Metro and i'm cool.

That's why a hyper-violent, over-sexualized game like Bayonetta 2 is now being published by Nintendo themselves, right?

I just hope Relic Entertainment, Volition, Inc & Vigil Games make thought to the other side intact

I get what you're saying, but publishing one violent game is different from owning various western franchises, pretty much all of which mature.

"....Great exclusives" are no longer the saviors of consoles anymore.
But exclusives have been keeping Nintendo afloat for neon-30 years?

I don't think exclusives are failing at all. The problem is that both the PS3 and 360's lineups are very similar to one another, whereas for instance the 32bit era, the PSX, Saturn and N64 all had very different games and target audiences.

Good point about them being a 2nd party dev to make all new games, but it's worth mentioning Conkers, Madworld and Red Steel weren't published by Nintendo. Red Steel wasn't super violent (it was a game by Ubisoft) and, as I'm sure you're aware, Nintendo REALLY didn't want Conker's Bad Fur Day released on the Nintendo 64. If you don't know anything about that, I suggest you have a look on some articles about the making of that game.

Madworld was published by Sega if I'm not mistaken? And whilst it is indeed a violent game on a Nintendo console, it's not as much being associated with the company.

Fuck that means I won't buy any of their games because of the stupid Ubisoft DRM.

this is pretty much the best of a bad situation, in leau of THQ remaining a standalone publisher, better Ubisoft than EA or activision (if this were twitter that sentence would be trending)
