yeah I have a question for a londoner, how on earth do you make sense of the London underground? The map is like a drunken spider's web, it makes no sense! The trams in Sheffield are much better.

P.S. Isn't it a bit late for us UK inhabitants to be posting?

Am I the only Scot here?

Well I'm off to eat some haggis and drink whiskey... not to conform to any stereotypes.

From London.

I honestly don't know how you guys cope with living elsewhere. I'm down in Southampton for university, and it just seems so insignificant, even though it's one of the biggest towns in the whole South East!

I know London is big, imposing, impersonal, and all of us are abrasive and pompous as hell, but it's just frickin awesome here if you know what you're doing and where to go.

My current sleep pattern is to go to bed at 5-7 AM and get out of bed at 1-3PM.

So no, not for me :p

It only looks like it makes no sense because it's all been moved around so that stations all fit on the map properly, here's what it would look like for real - http://thefilter.blogs.com/thefilter/2006/05/the_real_tube_m.html.

Also there are loads of tools to help us get around such as the route planner on http://www.tfl.gov.uk/

But the easiest way to learn is to come live here. That's when you start to learn the tube actually isn't even the easiest way to get around half of the time.

I been London, it don't seem much different than Manchester, we arn't t'kind of people that spend 18 hours a day working in t'mine, come home to beat t'kids and post on t'internet, that you londoners seem to think everyone else is.

We have Electric and cars and houses and roads...

and we pay less for everything!

I'm based in Hull at the moment so another vote for Yorkshire though I'm a dirty southerner in reality. I suggest either Leicester, Nottingham or Northampton, smack bang the centre of the UK, and let's be honest, London is not only a logistical nightmare but a pain in the arse for long distance. And we'll never get a decent venue. Nothing goes on in either of those three, we'd be the party of the decade at least.

We'd need to do a bit better than meeting up and going, "Hey, I'm 'USERNAME', I post once in a while on an internet forum". I suggest booze, food, copious gaming equipment, and celebrity guests like...Susan Arendt! I bet they'd be well up for a trip to Blighty! Let's get it happening guys...

I didn't see this many Yorkshire folk together since...well the last time I was in Yorkshire.

From Sunderland in the North East here, and I'm willing to bet I'll be the only person from Sunderland in this thread.

MANCHESTEEEEEEEEEEER!

That would be so useful and less stereostypical.
Salford lad here, wheres Salford you ask it's the city next to manchester, we are not part of it though as the Salford liberation front would attest! I dont see why the centre of the UK has to be London? I personally think the north should devolve like Scotland and Wales!

If you were to run the escapist con somewhere how about Birmingham which is actually the centre more or less. Or Manchester as most seem to be ont tother side ot penninnes.
