Yeah because we don't have a million and one sluts in the UK who would do anyone anyway.

OT: Oh fantastic, this is really going to help the relationship between the citizens and the government especially now people are feeling more frustrated and angry at them. The conservatives really do know how to make themselves popular

This is so going to help suppress a basic instinct of people by banning it, look how well Japan's sexual culture is doing after genitals on camera were banned.

If you honestly can't tell where I am being sarcastic then go stick your head in a microwave

Good for them I guess. I don't really see how that would solve anything though. People who want porn are still going to get it. It will just end up being through less-legal channels instead.

When are governments going to learn? Banning things that are objectionable/problematic is stupid. Making them legal, but taxing them on the other hand... that could be more effective. Perhaps.

Oh, in the UK. Damn, sucks to be a Brit. I thought the US was bad with their "government nanny" laws.
What "government nanny" laws do we have? We have tons of "government safetyspying the fuck on you" laws but I don't really see many "government posing as parents" laws.

We have enough crazed Republicans to stop most of those.

How is this helping anyone?
This is just so a bunch of stuck up people can be even more stuck up..

Oh wait..
"Pornography sites will be blocked at source unless people specifically ask to view them."
So basically, nothing will be different then!
"Do not click this unless you are over 18"

Great job UK, way to make a law that does nothing and still somehow pisses off everyone.

I predict this will go over about as well as prohibition went over here in the 'States. There will be mobsters in trench coats selling CDs of bootleg internet porn and speakeasies hidden in the back of "social clubs" where, if you know the password, they'll let you back in to use an old computer with a mouse whose buttons stick for reasons you don't really want to know.

Never mind this opt-in nonsense, who wants their name on an official pervert list?

Speaking as a former kid myself, I have to say if kids want to see tits, they will find ways to sneak a peak at tits. Getting a subscription to National Geographic, renting a copy of Titanic... there are a million ways to see tits today, the internet is just the easiest. If you really want to help kids, stop treating sex and the human body as some kind of shameful evil thing and teach them respect and reverence for it.
I think people would rather opt in than attempt to sneak around to find bootlegged internet porn. Also, as a former kid, we knew what father had the Play Boys and how to get them if we really wanted. I am sure these kids will know what family opted in and then looking at porn while drastically under age will be a social event once again.

OMG PORNGRAPY MAKS U EVIIL REPIST!!!

For fuck's sake, who cares if kids look at pornography? I can't believe we still live in a world in which sex is considered to be a bad thing- when the hell will we all grow up?

"Exposing" minors to sexuality early is just going to remove some of its allure- it won't be a mysterious, "adults all do it and I want to be an adult", kind of thing when they hit fifteen.

Allowing our children to be entirely ignorant of the particulars of sex only serves to make them vulnerable to something much more insidious- sexual predation.

You know what they *should* do, though? Sexual Education, the earlier the better, if only to ensure an untainted view of sex.

It's fucking retarded.

Porn is probably one of the things that keeps frustrated teenagers sane, what's the harm of it?

I'm sorry, does anyone raise their kids anymore or is that out of fashion now?

This really seems weird to me.

Sex, after all, is a perfectly natural process, whereas violence is the opposite. Why is it O.K. to kill people but not have sex? Isn't in the opposite IRL?
That's a very backwards system we've got going on there, isn't it?
Actually, violence is perfectly natural too.

OT: I really don't see the problem here. They're just placating the masses by doing virtually nothing.

Not necessarily the earlier the better...what about childhood innocence? That's kinda taken away if they're being taught about sex at say, 5. I think 11 is probably the most suitable age to start.

Well, I see no reason this can't work. I mean, Prohibition worked like a charm, right?

(I know that was alcohol, I'm not stupid. But it's the same basic principle)

I carn't find many other news sources commenting on this surprisingly, and those that do make mention of it say Conservative mp's have only suggested it and it isn't a formal motion in parliament. Hopefully, this is article is inaccurate.

At any rate, who remembers the Tories accusing Labour of running a nanny-state? Bloody hypocrites.

Combating early sexualisation of kids....because obviously the shit they listen too and the music videos and such are great role mod- NO! FUCK YOU, ENGLAND! Grow some balls and realise that more adults than children want to watch women be tied up and other weird unmentionables!
