OMG PORNGRAPY MAKS U EVIIL REPIST!!!

For fuck's sake, who cares if kids look at pornography? I can't believe we still live in a world in which sex is considered to be a bad thing- when the hell will we all grow up?

"Exposing" minors to sexuality early is just going to remove some of its allure- it won't be a mysterious, "adults all do it and I want to be an adult", kind of thing when they hit fifteen.

Allowing our children to be entirely ignorant of the particulars of sex only serves to make them vulnerable to something much more insidious- sexual predation.

You know what they *should* do, though? Sexual Education, the earlier the better, if only to ensure an untainted view of sex.
Not necessarily the earlier the better...what about childhood innocence? That's kinda taken away if they're being taught about sex at say, 5. I think 11 is probably the most suitable age to start.
11 Might be slightly too late, seeing as 13-14 is the break off point for childhood innocence as they start to have sex in school toilets (On numerous occasions have I heard so, it makes it a pain to go in the boys bathroom now :/ )

Why?

Its like i said, hypocrisy. Lets say for sake of argument the US out laws it. oka, I give it a week. Month at most. Then you see this on the six o'clock news:

And as we shift to politics, it appears ANOTHER one of the major signs for the ban on pornographical content being excessable to minors has been brought up on charges outlawed against the bill. Conservative/Liberal Democrat/Republican congressman John Doe was brought up on charges of violating pornographic content on the internet in his home after agreeing to be on the "opt out" list when he signed the bill into law. Neighbors and friends reported said that Congressmen Doe had been buying porn in back alley shops, carrying them from the stores in brown paper bags or blue plastic bags. They also say he had begged and asked to view porn in homes of people who new were on the "opt in" list.

John Doe joins Congressmen and women Joe Shmoe, Jane Jackson, Tom Smith, Susan Thompson, and Aaron Aaronson (I know the irony there, just work with me) Who were found out and charged with violations of this law in the month of its passing. After public out cry and the reeling loss of revenue made in the pornographic business from its online sectors, a new bill as been drawn up and will be presented to Congress in the following two months to lessen or perhaps even nullify the Online Porn banning Bill passed on December 19, 20XX. Coming up next, we'll check in with Bob Robertson as he gives up the update on that weekend weather and reveal to you what could be killing you in your local grocery store that companies are pushing you to buy

Funny? perhaps.
Over dramatic? Surely... a tad.
Likely? Oh, hell yes.

So even if it does get passed, I dont see it sticking around for long. The problem back in Prohibition times was, not everyone could vote, and not everyone really cared to vote. But in today's day and age, where the goverment wants to add any more restrictions on top of what is already in place on American Public to view their naked women/men/animals (yes, i went there) and its a younger gnereation able to vote, it wouldnt fly.

As much as Congresspeople like to do what they htink is right cause they can, they care FAR more about the perks and money and they get for being at that level and need the support of voters to keep it.

Oh man, poor UK. This isn't going to solve early sexualisation. If anything it will probably increase bootleg porn sales, but this time a big buyer will be underage kids.
It is weird how human laws don't change biological imperatives.

It's almost like teenage genitals don't care that adults don't want them interacting with one another.

World, I'm disappointed in you.
What a waste of disappointment. Since 99.95% of the world has nothing to do with anything that disappoints folks generally.

Oh, yeah, not like parents could do this on their own. By checking their kid's browser history, or blocking porn sites with that "parental control" option on every fucking computer.

Why do people rely on the government now for shit they can do in three minutes?
For the same reason people can't figure out that GIANT FUCKING ESRB rating on video games?

The government should be telling parents to do their own fucking jobs. If parents are so god damned worried about this shit, then why don't they do anything about it?

It's. Not. That. Hard. People. Holy Jeebzus nailed to toast with copies of D2, humanity is retarded.

(Then again, I haven't actually bothered to read the article, considering it's 1:30 in the morning, and I've read more than enough bullshit to know when something is facepalmingly unworthy of reading.)

...Can't parents just do thier fucking job! Geez, How hard it is to just use the goddamn parental control on EVERY FUCKING PC THAT EXISTS and block it...

And if kids want to look at pron/tits/naked people they will find an other way...

This is just one more idiot law to add to the list of rules created by people who can't distinguish between a subjective opinion on something and a genuinely universal problem that needs to be restricted.

I have a subjective dislike of many things including Lego and Dancey music. If you'll excuse me I'm going to go do a biased study that indicates that 1 in 3 children have experience one or both of the above and find some correlation between that statistic and the local crime rate or something, then get it banned in the UK unless you explicitly ask the government to "opt-in".

Good. That seems fair to me.

Because remember kids, sex is baaaaaad. It says so in the bible :3

An ideal child should remain totally oblivious of it until he is 21 or he might become a sex offender.

Eh, just give an option when you sign a broadband package to not filter ANYTHING (As opposed to specifying what sites are okay) and I'd be fine with this. Guess it would suck as a teenager if your parents didn't get porn unblocked though, that would be an awkward conversation.

I thought it said 'US' instead of 'UK' at first...
I just about cried
But it's all ok now.
And for those of you in the UK, I'm sorry for your loss.

I predict that this will simply make kids move back to hard copies of porn. So basically Nuts and Zoo will be able to stay in business.

So the only difference is that you have to ask your ISP nicely to let you access the porn sites?

Excuse me but how is this a problem for anyone above the age of 18? (If it really bugs you that much then just call up the service provider and ask them to flip the mighty porn switch)

As for the people who say 'they're allowed to show violence but not nudity? wtf man!?' well...one is a lot easier to work into something somewhat positive (and in some cases justified and heroic), I've heard of plenty of stories and films which have been centered around a brave person tackling a dangerous situation and coming out of the conflict triumphant but I have never heard of anything where a brave person has entered a dangerous situation and resolved it by getting naked and fucking everything.

Kind of a difference there.

Ok I really cannot see the sense of this new idea. Its going to be complicated, get hackers and porn website creators to get more creative in how you access their sites (such as calling it under a cartoon, making it so that you can click a harmless kids cartoon image and bring up porn etc.

Personally, although some ISPs will allow you to "opt in" to have porn. Im pretty certain when me and my partner want some "fun time", I wouldnt be able to call/email etc and say "please may we be aloud to have porn back on our internet." Talk about embarrassing.

I do like the idea of being able to put an age limit on your internet though. In this house its 18+ all the way ;) until we have kids and even then, they'll be 5 before i change the settings.
