What, again? I swear I reported this about a year ago on a separate news article, but it turned out to be untrue.

Maybe this time will prove different?

Some stupid people don't know what a recession is. When the economy grows positively then it is no longer a recession.

Besides it is these negative thoughts that make the recession last longer!

We have technically been out of the recession for a few months. The country is only in recession when the size of the economy is receding, but recently the economy has been growing, albeit by a minute amount. Loads of people in this thread are making the point that shops are still closing etc, that's because the long term effects of a recession are the worst part and are drawn out in most cases. The economy is growing again but many shops will still close over the next year as they struggle to cope with the drop in demand and cash flow. The economy is much weaker than before, and we still haven't seen all the effects of the recession

not quite. the per capita of many places in europe may be going up, but their growth is still either stagnant or negative. it's a result of inflation. real figures which are adjusted for inflation will still show stagnant growth and minimal flow.

bet it's made up by the government so labour has the slimmest chance of not epic-failing.

Tell that to us people who have been 'temporarily' let go.
And now JobSeekers are giving me shit, sure anyone with 6 kids and no job history gets it easy, but I have letters telling me I should have sent them things, that no one told me I have to send. /stress.
I know how you feel. I was made redundant by my last firm. There are a lot of us out there. Job market is a tough place right now.

It's strange how it will take some of the population spending beyond their means again to get us back into a period of strong economic growth. These people are affected by the media. The media tells them things are getting better - they spend more. The economy grows, house prices rise, the pound strengthens. Then the media begins to whisper about a crash. A bank or two misplaces a few billion and BAM! Were back where we started.

Still unemployed: check
Still scratching by in jobseeker's allowance: check
Still blame the government: check

Yup, this announcement may or may not have some sense of truth in it, but it's not helping me any, and it sure as hell aint changing my voting plans.

So it seams that the UK is finally out of recession.
Only the rest of Western civilization remains!
According to the article Brittain was the only large economy still in the recession, the US, Japan, France and Germany have been out for over 6 months.

I'm angry all the time, Mr. Stalkeroony =]

Nahh, generally I'm quite chill, it's just the majority of shops in England are really expensive IMO. For a game-related example;

Question : If Motorstorm : Pacific Rift retails at £19.99 in GAME and £12 in CEX, how much will it cost in Curry's?

Answer : £39.99.

GITS!
I was clever and got it for £5 off a friend... ;D
