A) you only link to people on facebook that you're friends wih (in which case most people would have around 4 - 5 links)
Using a social networking site for only people you're friends with rather than also people you don't know and/or hate?

Utter insanity.
Care to prove me otherwise, or are you just going to chuck sarcasm like the usual messageboard retard that doesn't have anything to contribute?
Flaming ain't the best way to start your Escapist career.

I'd link you to my Facebook page, but...well, I have this thing about not giving out my personal identity to a public forum. I don't have a single person I dislike, and while maybe ~20% of my shy-of-70 'Friends' on Facebook may not be the closest people to me, the rest are either Friends or family members.

But hey, continue to 'Friend' whoever chucks you an invite if it makes you feel better. Personally I have this crazy notion that I don't associate with people I don't actually like if I can help it.

Facebook has this wonderful "block" function too I just discovered. God that's handy. I just wish I'd seen it sooner.

Didn't mean to flame, sorry about that.

I'm just pointing out that although many people do manage their facebook accounts like you it's not exaactly manadatory and there's a lot of grey areas in the way that people interpret 'friendship'.

For example, maybe these two previous things (the assult and the door thing) happened and they made up, only for it to blow out of porportion again. All we know about the story is a newspaper article, maybe they were best of friends about two months ago. You know how people are.

Anyhow, I'm guessing you didn't like my 'retard' comment. That's fair enough, but by your own logic shouldn't you just stay off this message board if you're sensitive towards strangers throwing insults at you? I don't think that's right, but it's your opinion that you should protect yourself on the internet and you obviously didn't like it enough if you're calling it flaming. Just a heads up.

Welcome to the internet folks! Yeah most people I know have hundreds of 'friends' on facebook. This doesn't mean they actually are friends as we know. It's just social curiosity. I suppose the girl here lives a fairly pointless existence where violence and anger are the norm, so finding it on the internet on a social site is to be expected. An intelligent person would block the criminal in question but I don't think anyone in the case will be qualifying for that status any time soon

District Judge Bruce Morgan was unimpressed, saying: "Since Emily Moore was 14 you have waged compelling threats and violent abuse towards her ... Bullies are by their nature cowards, in school and society. The evil, odious effects of being bullied stay with you for life ... On this day you did an act of gratuitous nastiness to satisfy your own twisted nature."
Awesome judge is awesome. But it sounds like this girl is pretty messed up to begin with. You prove yourself unstable when you go to apologize to someone and then start threatening them again. Not sure jail is really what she needs, but at least Moore will get three months of peace and quiet.

Cyber bullying is a very serious thing and I am glad that she got put in her place. All rise for Judge Awesome. However it is quite funny when a kid who sound about 5 years old(when he is probably 15-16) is shouting at me about how he will "get the crew" on me and how "my dad will beat up your dad". They're not bullying just annoying.

Good, maybe this will help cut down on random people telling me that they're going to "hunt me down, rape my mom and then kill me."

Mostly it's little kids saying that, so I don't think they can jail them. Darn it.
Its young person institute you can send people there from 14 i think.

I don't honestly belive in cyber bullying, but threatening to kill someone is a different matter.

Also, the "Don't believe in cyber bullying" is simply I don't think that making fun of people over the internet should honestly effect them, even if you know each other IRL. I sure as hell don't.

Is the photo the victim or the bully? If it's the bully, she looks like she has some issues, you wouldn't need to get to know her to realise she has a problem.

That's not "cyber bullying", that's uttering a death threat. "Bullying" is only used in this case as a buzzword, to draw more attention to their article.

So yeah, somebody got arrested for uttering a death threat. Woopdee darn doo. I'm sure something more important is happening as we speak.
