Let's just make everything Call of Duty! Call of Duty Mass Effect Edition? Why the fuck not?!

The most impressive thing about all of this is how EA manages to take something as beloved as Mass Effect, a totally new IP from only THIS console cycle, and make those that loved it start to hate it immensely. That takes talent of some kind.

as single player based shooter goes... Gow > Halo > WW2/3 sims = Cry-sis > Bioshock > Dead Space > Uncharted > Mass Effect.... it's last on the list for me... because it's got boring generic weapons, RPG like stats system, and flat battle fields... it's NOT designed for this... just like Dead Space! If you are thinking about CO-op, HELL YEAH!

I'm banking on Space combat. Maneuvering the Normandy and blasting away at a ton of chasing Reapers would be fun.

But it'll most likely be something like new squad armor changing mechanics or something else unremarkable. So let's chill.

"Online Multiplayer and much more!"
Oddly worded and from a 'South African Retailer'. That's not how I define 'confirmed'.

I'm still hoping for a co-op mode. You're always with other squad members anyway, why not let them be player controlled?
As for competitive multiplayer, no. Just no.
Because I'm playing a Shepard that I've shaped over the last two games.

The last thing I want is some jack-ass complaining how I've made/making different choices or because I've haven't chosen that squad member they like to play as.

Seeing multiplayer (co-op or competitive) slapped on to everything these days (I'm looking at you RE5), is a 'killer' feature because they destroy the quality of the single player experience.

Which is the whole bloody point of RPG's!

You got it all wrong, man. This is EA, it's Battlefield Effect 3. But seriously, Please Bioware, keep competitive multiplayer out of ME3. Make a ME MMO later if you want, but please keep this one free of that. All I need is some idiot screwing up my good time in this game. Multiplayer in this game, I predict, would be around about as long as Bioshock 2's MP(not very long)

Does Mass Effect already have starfighter combat?

If not, then that's what it should be. Bogeys filling the screen and tearing up space. And each other. For fun and profit.
There's no point to star fighter combat. The normandy is a big ship, but it isn't a super vessle, and it has 2 guns on it, that fire slowly. All ship to ship combat that is needed is shown in cutsceens, epically. Anything else would just be boring. It's more of a land and rape everything on ground.

OT: I don't want multiplayer, I want story.

no MP for this game. otherwise they will fuck up the story which is never good. like its a damn law that every game must have a silly MP to make higher sales.
i love ME for its story line and that its basically a SP game only. DX: HR has also no MP and the game sells really well.
i really hope that its not true and that no MP what so ever will be in the third installment.

I explained what I meant a bit later ... Ofc, you are fast on the reply trigger finger. :)
Besides, milking is not BioWare only issue, look at latest ZP.

Threes ... Threes everywhere.

No one is immune it seems, so don't react only when someone you are a fan of gets mentioned.

I'm speculating, but one of the new killer features is the Kinect's ability to detect pelvic thrusts. Enjoy that imagery.
Now I have Commander Shepherd doing the Time Warp stuck in my head...
Thank you, thank you very much!

I'd very much like to see the return of the planet exploration from ME1. Ya it was terrible but only because the MAKO was a massive steaming turd. Give us that system with a bit more to do and a air vehicle of somekind.... o yeah.....

I mean really the mako never really made sense to me anyways, were ina super advanced future society with ftl travel and bioweapons that can steralize entire species but they can't build a simple helicopter, or harrier?

Why the hell does EA have to put multiplayer in everything?

Afterwards you and EA can stuff all the multiplayer you want into the subsequent games because I won't give a shit anymore.

shorter and less polished because they'll be distracted by some damn multiplayer "Social element".

They add multiplayer...I know Bioware would never have done this if EA didn't demand it.
We're talking about Bioware here. A company that built its legacy on top of multiplayer role-playing games.

Baldur's Gate, anyone? Neverwinter Nights, anyone?

RPGs are a single player experience? You poor antisocial sod. The 'whole bloody point' of RPGs was originally to get a bunch of mates round a table and tell an exciting story as a group.

It wasn't confined to the table top, once computers started becoming a viable gaming platform, session based role playing games rose in popularity: Diablo 2, Baldur's Gate, NWN. Then, when the internet really exploded the possibility to host massive persistent worlds brought the era of the MMORPG - Role Playing, by definition.

The removal of the social element from RPGs has been the real problem for a while. The missing feature of Jade Empire, Dragon Age and Mass Effect was the ability to share in cooperative storytelling. Apparently, it has bred a generation of gamers who would rather turn off the lights and hide away in a cave than socialise.

The behaviour of a helicopter or aeroplane is dependent on the air quality, to an extent. Even if you had the ability to scan the atmosphere of an unexplored world, you would probably need to make modifications to the vehicle before launch: air/fuel mix, rotor speed/engine output, resilience to high/low pressure (cabin stabilisation), precautions in the event of a crash landing (crew safety/survival concerns).

Or you can stick a robust exploration buggy with treads in your bay and it'll probably be a lot more efficient.

Then don't invite some jack-ass to play with you? Maybe start a new game with someone as invested in the series as you, make new choices and enjoy the experience together?

If they do have multiplayer, it's likely a testing ground for a potential MMO. For instance, they've got to figure out how to include the tactical menu without it pausing the action... or they've got to streamline things so the menu isn't necessary (particularly on consoles). It's also probably about measuring the actual interest in cooperative play.

Of course, a lot of this is going to change based on The Old Republic. Making an "epic storyline" game into an MMO has many, many potential pitfalls... and so far, from the look of Republic, I'd say BioWare is falling into most of them.

I loved piloting the Mako in the first game (making me in the minority), but I think a big part of that was that I played the PC version and the controls were vastly improved.

I hope it is a return to "the game will have a story which actually matters in the grand scheme of things".

Because ME2 was a team building game. And 80% of my team died in my 'lead' Shepard file. Making ME2 redundant.

Still, ME2 is in my top 3 games of all time.

Why is it every time I hear something about Bioware lately, that its always about them making bad decisions? Even their recent interview where they practically blamed themselves for that atrocity Dragon Age 2. Bioware, I know EA probably have you by the balls, but come back to the light side of game development.
