Games mentioned so far that I own or have played:

Impossible Creatures
Whiplash
Black and White
Phantom Dust
Pulseman
BattleTanx: Golbal Assault
Kickle Cubicle
Mickey Mousecapade
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System
Gotcha Force
Ico
Megaman Legends 2
Gundam: Federation vs Zeon
Rygar - both NES and PS2 versions
3D World Runner
GUN
Mischief Makers
Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker
I-Ninja
Darkwatch
Phantom Crash - not this exactly, but I've played S.L.A.I. on PS2 which is a remake or a
sequel or something.

Mischief Makers is in my top three favorite platformers of all time.

Gotcha Force and Fed vs Zeon are very similar, and unfortunately there aren't any good games that I know of that have similar gameplay. Of the two, Gotcha Force is much faster-paced and more fun. It has a lot of serious flaws too, but the core gameplay is good and I'd like to see more games like this. Virtual On is also similar if anyone has played it.

Metal Arms is easily the most fun 3rd person shooter/platformer I've played, and is in fact the only one I've played that smoothly integrated both platforming and shooting without feeling like too much of one or the other.

BattleTanx was a favorite party game among my circle of friends, so I was surprised to see it here.

Not much to say on the rest, though I'd like to add Bomberman 64 and Darksun: Shattered Lands.

Bomberman 64 is one of the few 2D games that made a good transition to 3D. It turned the standard single-player part of Bomberman into a puzzle/adventure game, yet it still has that classic feel to it. The multiplayer is exactly what you'd expect, but in 3D. Bombs have a circular radius now, and you throw them at people. Enough said.

Darksun is a very old, very flawed western RPG for the PC. Despite its age and glitchyness, it also did more things right than any RPG I've played since (admittedly, I don't play very many PC RPGs). There are no random encounters, and thus every fight feels like it has some reason to occur. You are given many dialogue choices at various opportunities which can effect how story events play out. I know that's a common thing now, but Darksun's moral choices aren't nearly as black and white as they are in today's games, and in fact the game pulled off the whole system better than anything else I've played. The opening starts you off in a colluseum-like arena, and there are at least 6 different ways to escape. I'd go on, but just give it a shot. It deserves a look.

Hands down the best point-and-click adventure/puzzle game I've ever played. It's got an interesting story, some creepy set pieces, and some truly ingenious puzzles. Today, a lot of the cutscenes and special effects would be laughable, but for its time, it was revolutionary. I used to be terrified of this game when I was a wee child.

Remember all that fuss about a Ghostbusters game...

Very similar to Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, and both seemed to cancel the other out on release.
Played both. ghost hunter had good potential but was let down by the worst ending in history imo.

Second Sight was pretty damn good. loved the powers you got on it ^^

How about "Obscure" for the PS2? That's a pretty Obscure game....

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/596/596779p1.html

It was pretty decent, and even got a sequel...
Darn, you got me. I was going to say the Obscure games. Not many people liked them but I love them. :3

I'm gonna have to say...Koudelka on the PS1. If you know this game, I'd have to seriously shower you in cookies.

Took me almost three years to finally track down a copy and every game person I encountered along the way gave me a blank stare when I mentioned it.
I'll do you one better: it's the precursor to the Shadow Hearts series.

And yeesh, listing the games shown in this thread in the OP would take hours. There's stuff here I've never heard of.

I think I love you. xD Haha, yeah, and the Shadow Hearts series is amazing too. I'm glad someone here knows Koudelka though. :)

I never owned a PS2 though, so I never had the chance to play it. It's actually not Russian, but is based on an amazing comicbook from Image. Now, honestly say you knew about either. Incidentally the comic is how I know it exists.
I have it. It's a mixture of a shmup and a beat'em up. Seriously. Interesting game.
If you've never read the comic, go dig it up, seriously, drop poured awesome from begining to end.

Looking at the art design and production values, you'd think this was a JRPG.

Except it's a lightgun shooter. No really. And probably the best one ever made.

Any body ever hear of Littlewing? They're an obscure games developer who exclusively make Pinball simulations. They've made 8 to my knowledge: TRISTAN, Crystal Caliburn, Loony Labyrinth, Angel Egg (My Favorite), Golden Logres, JINNI ZEALA, Monster Fair and Fairy Tower. Has anyone ever played one of these? Becuase nobody I know has. Angel Egg happened to be my favorite, because I liked the music, and the gameplay was GREAT. You had to collect 'Eggs' by bouncing the ball of certain things or going through certain places... Then when you have enough you can Hatch one of 7 Angels, each with their own special rewards for doing so. AWSOME :D
EDIT:Holy crap! I remember GUN. I played it on the PS2 and thought it was AWSOME, then I saw it had come out for Xbox360 years later and borrowed it from a friend... Unfortunately it didnt seem good at all then, as I had played many more, much less crappy games... Ah well, I guess I was easily impressed back then.

Computer, and you can download free trials of the 8 games from the Littlewing website. ENJOY

That sounds like fun, is that computer or console?
Oh my God, I forgot about Littlewing? D: I owned all of their pinball games at one time or another. Clear back to Tristan...
Sweet. :) I myself have only owned Angel Egg on disc, but I have downloaded most of the others (Except Tristan, cause that's Mac only.) Also, Did you know that Littlewing is just one guy? (I think) I guess that would be why it took such a long time to make 8 games, 20 years and still going strong :)

Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain. Maybe everyone has heard of it, but no one plays it anymore. Co-op was fucking awesome back when it was released.

I just felt the urge to make an account so I could reply this gem.

Haven: Call of the King

The developers planned it as the first part of a trilogy and they wanted to port it to the Gamecube and the Xbox.
But surprisingly it was so mediocre and sold so bad, that they stopped doing these things all together.
It had a whole bunch of different genres cramped inside of it, while none of them where actually well executed.
The VA was just plain awful. (Especially the German one)
Storywise it is not interesting: You are a guy called Haven, who like the rest of his planet, is a slave to some evil space lord called Vetch. One day you have some weird dreams, which means that you are chosen to seek the rightful king, who would be able to free the people.
It is all in all a pretty average game but the worst part is the ending.
Spoilered just in case someone really cares but I can really advise you to read this.
After you finally find the place you are supposed to meet the king you get the instruction to wait.
At this instant your girlfriend calls you and demands help so you leave the place.
Once you helped your girlfriend with some stuff it turns out she worked for Vetch and was supposed to distract you.
Now you have to turn back to the meeting place only to see how the king (the only hope for salvation) gets killed. (This only works since you left.) At this point you fight the big bad in a long frustrating series of QTEs. Once you done that you still loose. you can't defeat him and he can't kill you. So he just chains you next to the kings corpse and leaves you to starve.
That's right it ends with a completely depressing cliffhanger which became the actual ending since the second game was never made.

Edit: Oh yeah I forgot there is also a "super secret bonus ending" which required you to do 8 nigh impossible to find bonus dungeons.
Seriously it takes hours to find each of them even with a guide.
But that is nothing but a teaser for part 2. Try to find any informations about it on the Internet. It is not possible, that is how obscure this "secret ending" is.
I believe I paid something like 30 Euro for that back then!

Game Center CX Series. The games not the Japanese TV Show.

The game is really good, I recommend it to anyone who enjoys retro games.

One example:

Had a Demo for that for the PSP, and it was really good... the kind of demo you love to play but would never actually pay for the full game... although I never saw it in any shops...

OT:Most games I mention to my real life(as opposed to those i met through internet) friends get me blank stares... none of my friends are gamers, but Primal is one I've never seen mentioned on this site... anyone else like it?
I liked it because of the characters, the worlds you visit(I have yet to complete it because i got it just before christmas, and as good as it is, It can't compete with the games I got for christmas between me and my brother[ACII, GTA:CW, Saints Row 2,MGS4 and Fallout 3])
