Mostly it just means you will be socially awkward, but seeing as how you're busy posing this question on a forum on an internet gaming website, it probably wont matter.

fyi, the whole "lack of empathy for other people" sounds a bit extreme at face value, but it's somewhat misleading if you interpret it that way. It doesn't necessarily mean that if you for example, see someone get hit by a car, you will laugh at them or not give a shit. It's generally much more subtle.
It usually translates into other people showing their discomfort around you in a way that should be obvious to most people, but that you are completely oblivious to.
Example: My boss (who I suspect has Aspergers) will corner you and ramble on and on about something, despite constant verbal and non-verbal cues that the person he is talking to needs or wants to leave the conversation -- i.e. the person says "I have to go or I will be late for an appointment" and starts moving towards the door. This does not occur to my boss as a sign that he should end the conversation, and he continues his rambling.

More extreme cases can obviously lead to worse problems and difficulties in life, but you shouldn't be taking medical advice from Wikipedia or random assholes on the internet.

Go see a doctor dude.

One of my best friends has a mild form of aspergers- and he functions fine.

If you enjoy your life- don't worry.

If you feel weird, or the need to hurt someone, get yourself a padded room.
Hell I'd get myself a padded room just because it would be fun to jump around in...
Well, im going to abandon all modesty here and just come out and say that yes, i am, in a way, a psychopath. i do want to hurt people when im mad. in horrible ways. ways worse than ED: offended. ways that make Hostel look like Carebears Adventure in Happy Island Super Magic Fun Land.
Nothing to worry about.

EVERYBODY gets those urges. It's normal. As long as you know better than to ACT on them, you'll be just fine!

At least you don't have Pnigerophobia...
that'd be awkward in conversations.

There is no reason you need to be worried , i mean people who dont have any syndromes may have problems with social connections becouse they dont try , i know lots of people who do have been said to have social problems due to "syndromes" and they are doing just fine.

i have been told all my life that i was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at the age of four. I just read an article saying that It causes lack of empathy for humans and difficulty in understanding nonverbal cues. I have realized that i do both of these things, and im wondering if i should be worried. do you think so? i really want to stop, and i just figured out why it is so hard to.
I work with "Special Needs" kids, and the ones with Asperger's I've dealt with have run the gamut from "Joaquin Phoenix on Late Night" calm disinterest to...well..."batshit" might not be P.C., but there it is, but environment can impact that a lot, too.

Asperger's falls under the umbrella of Autism Spectrum Disorder, but only just, and a lot of research indicates that, while most "normal" people are born with the ability to empathize and read body language, people with Asperger's can be "taught" these things, like learning a new skill. Bottom line though? Dan Aykroyd has Asperger's, so I'll think you'll be okay.

If you can do these things, then congratulations! They're useful skills, so why worry? If you can't, then there's not exactly anything you can do about it (I think, I'm not exactly an expert on asperger's syndrome, but the word syndrome is kind of a giveaway to the fact that it can't be cured), so why worry?

Urgh. So many people coming out of the woodwork, claiming to have some kind of aspergers. "Mild aspergers" gets me the most. What the hell do you mean by "mild"? Does that mean you are slightly lacking empathy? Surely that means, you are just a person who slightly lacks empathy, rather than someone who actually has a real condition.

Man I hate it when people read about psychological conditions online. Just because you appear to reflect some of the symptoms of a condition, it does not mean you actually have a problem. They call this parsimony in the medical world: one should, for practical reasons, make the least assumptions possible when it comes to a diagnosis. Ergo, if you find that you are often tired, it is less likely that you have M.E and more likely that you are just plain lazy. If you tend not to emote, it is less likely that you have autism and more likely that you are just an indifferent kind of person. These people who diagnose themselves, they're taking away the credibility of people who have genuine mental problems.

I don't have Asberger's myself, but a good portion of my family and several of my friends have it. All of them are fine.

I work at a residential treatment facility, and we see it now and again. It could be that you also have a lot more than just Asperger's going on, which wouldn't surprise me with what you've described in here. You do need to find a healthy outlet for it, though, so it doesn't become a serious issue. Just remember, there's nothing that can't be worked through with a little diligence.

Evger watched that show by Chuck Lorre called Big Bang Theory? If you're not as bad as Sheldon, then you've nothing to worry about.

Why is everyone here calling Asperger's "AssBurger"?
It's spelt with a P, not a B as far as I know.

Aspergers is nothing to worry about. I happen to have a good friend who I believe has aspergers syndrome and he's a nice guy. Though the diagnosis of asbergers i.e less care for humans and lack of emotion could explain certain people on these forums.

don't be worried, mate.

i.. think i am perfectly healthy but my sister and mother still call me a heartless bastard.
which i assume would mean i don't have empathy.

but really, don't worry.
