I was just wondering are there any movies you've seen were you completely ignored something in a movie after a while, but then looked back later after a while and realised that a subplot was just dropped or something just doesn't make sense if you actually think about it?

For example, in Inception, two things I've noticed, what happened to Cobol? Cobb still owes them their info, and the movie just kinds of ignores this half way through. Also, why couldn't his kids just move to him?, he asks their grandfather to get their gran to take them on holiday so he can see them, why not just move to a country without extradition laws to the States.

And in The Sixth Sense, how messed up was Bruce Willis' life that he just shows up at the house of his patient and starts performing psychiatry and doesn't notice that half the people he meets on the street completely ignore them.

Now maybe I missed something and if someone has answer for some of these I'd love to hear it. Plus post other bizarre cases of movies just ignoring things randomly.

EDIT: Lets try to ignore ranting about movies you don't like getting sequels and things like that, thats how the industry works. Just quirks in plots that you noticed.

I got another one for Inception. As they were leaving the warehouse after the Japanese guy was shot (I can't for the life of me remember anyones name from Inception) one of the guys said "Why don't you dream a little bigger" then seems to pull a grenade launcher out of thin air. Why didn't they just dream up some heavy artillery up when assaulting the base in the snow?
Because there was important information stored on the base in the snow. Blowing it up with heavy artillery would be wrong as their information would be destroyed.

The Japanese dude takes care of him, probably has better security than any Cobol hitmen.

Kids going to him? I imagine the kids are under all kinds of supervision. Cobb is a murder suspect and professional (subconscious) criminal, and if they're with him, the kids can be in danger. Also, it'd be easier to track him down if the kids are in contact with him.

In starwars episode IV, why is Luke's lightsaber green during the "training against remotes" scene?

This is observable in the DVD editions...

In Ghostbusters, why do you have to look away when opening the ghost trap?
Because it's very bright and would mess up your vision if you did look directly at it, possibly blind you. It's like why you need to shield your eyes when your welding.

In Avatar, why is no attempt made to mine the giant rocks floating in the sky filled with the oh so precious mineral?

How did the overlarge smurfs develop a biological multi-gigabit fiber connection without massive genetic engineering?

Why does the company run around with extremely expensive helicopters and various other systems but can't be bothered to drop a single Fuel Air bomb on the smurfs?

For that matter, why don't they develop a poison gas to use on the native life in the vicinity of the tree? They have self contained air systems.
I wasn't able to finish the movie (it was just to painfully boring) so I may have missed a few answers, but i think it all boils down to this "Technology bad! Nature good! Yay nature!"

In The Hangover, what does Alan's dad do when he sees the car?
At the end of the movie doesn't one of the guys apologise to him and he says "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" so I assume he did nothing

In Iron Man why doesn't Tony Stark have surgery to remove the shrapnel?Surely with the advanced technology at his disposal removing some shrapnel from his bloodstream shouldn't be that difficult

In any James Bond movie; why don't they just shoot him in stead of creating some kind of weird killing device???!!!

In the extended cut there is an added scene where Alan is about to tell his father in law about what happened to the car. Before he does his father told him that he is giving the car to him as a wedding gift.

in the green hornet, why did they find cameron diaz attractive?
Zing!

Okay, in the terminator, the one dude grabs a shotgun from a police car.

Later on, he's seen reloading it. Where did he get those extra shells? Always bothered me.

Yes but when he first ran away he wasn't a criminal, and the US government don't chase down every murder suspect in countries with no extradition laws to the States. It just seems like the movie just ignores that Cobb says he had to become a criminal while he was on the run, saying there weren't many legitimate ways for him to earn a living after what happened with Mal just suggests that he wasn't willing to give up dream-sharing for his kids.

My biggest unaswered question will always be what the heck was in the case in the movie Ronin. I only watched that stupid movie to the end to find out and they never did say.
