Hey guys, my PS3 has been getting kind of dusty lately. Well, not dusty, but I've only been using it to play movies and I feel guilty.
I heard about Uncharted 2 and wondered if it was worth the money. I'm not a genre specific person, so it doesn't matter if it's a stealth, puzzle, shooter, action game, RPG, JRPG, RTS or whatever.

Is Uncharted 2 worth the moolah I would spend on it?

NOTE: I want a game to be FUN, functional, and have good gameplay mechanics, if Uncharted 2 has none of these, I will most likely not play it. I also do not care about multiplayer alone in a game.
Oh, and I can only buy one game right now, so that's why I'm wondering if it's a good buy or not.

Well, it depends on what you're comparing it against. I'd say it's a fantastic experience, but it's fairly short. I ran through the campaign pretty quick, and didn't think much of the multiplayer. If you want something you're gonna be playing in the next month, probably not. But if you want something that is going to be an awesome week. Yes, definitely.

I would say definitely. Some of the jokes will go over your head if you haven't played the first game, but experience isn't necessary to enjoy the plot. The gameplay is fun as hell, and diverse enough to keep you interested. The multiplayer and co-op are fun, too.

You can't necessarily recommend a game to someone if you don't have it, and have only played the demo. But yeah Vanity, you should buy it, the single player is unrivaled and the multiplayer is a sweet surprise. It is also getting AAA reviews everywhere.

The reviews are praising it as the "BEST THING EVAR!!!!111!", but I'm waiting until Christmas anyway.

I'm interested in what makes Uncharted 2 so good as well. From what I've seen a lot of people like it, but it just looks like some third person shooter/adventure hybrid to me.
If someone could tell me what makes this game special and unique, please do. I don't really care about eye candy, so superior graphics doesn't make or break a game for me.

Don't take this as criticism, I'm just curious.

YES uncharted 2 is definetly worth it. the single player is probly the most consistantly fun and action packed game i have played. the multiplayer is also fun, not up to cod standards but still really fun.

what makes this game great is not any one thing. its an experience that really cant be explained without playing it. the story will definetly suck you in quick. the cover system, platforming, and shooting all work really well. the dialog between characters is some of the best ive ever heard and usually takes place while platforming and not in cut scenes so the player is hardly ever taken out of the action. almost anyone who played through the entire game will tell you its an exceptional experience that you really have to play yourself to understand why it is such a great game....hope this helped

I just got done playing through UC2 and liked it fairly well. It defintely did not stick in my mind as a top 5 game like Half Life 2 did but was a good game overall. I think it is a little overrated for all the cinematic elements and some gameplay elements that I thought were good but nothing special. TBH, it just does a lot of stuff really well and doesn't really do anything poorly.

The game that is really on my radar right now is borderlands. It is a FPS with some RPG elements. However im getting it for PC so i still have to wait till Monday for it to come out. It is a game where you want to make sure you know people that are pickin it up too because the co-op is what will make this game. Every review I have read thus far praises the co-op experience and says its a much better co-op game then single player.

Ive also been reading a lot of good reviews about Demon's Souls. It is a dungeon crawler type game that people have a tough time putting down because it is a such a risk/reward type game. It punishes you harshly if you fail to do something right and every fight in the game you can die very easily if you screw up. It is being hailed as one of the hardest games ever but also one of the most rewarding. People say there is nothing like killing the big boss after trying for so long to get the fight down. Right now I don't have the money and will probably get MW2 and borderlands before this game but ill end up pickin it up eventually.

you own a PS3...get it
haha I guess that's really how it is
it's a game that's hitting it big to ensure that the PS3 is more than a blu-ray player

This. The game is incredibly fun but unless you've played the first one some of the bonuses and jokes will fly right past you. Brilliant game with a fantastic storyline. Even without the multiplayer this game is worth the money but the Multiplayer just adds to the greatness. Get it.

Same here. I have been down that road before, getting a game because of some review saying "It's the best game ever!" or "If you own a PS3, then you need to get this game," and then being disappointed with it.

I am sure that it is a great game, but not something you need to do a peel out and head to the store for.
