Uncharted 2, worth it?

Why don't you buy Uncharted 1, (which is probably cheap these days). And then, if it gives you the orgasm everyone else gets from the uncharted series, buy the second one.

... or just rent Uncharted 2 but that isn't nearly as fun/convoluted.

It's just an experience that has to be had. Have you seen the commercial where the dude calls the help line saying that his girlfriend thinks it's a movie? That's the truth. Every time I'd pop on Uncharted 2 my girlfriend and friends all just sat around on the couch and watched with rapt attention. It actually got the the point where they wouldn't let me play unless all five of them were there. My friend Lindsay actually teared up at the end, I SHIT YOU NOT.

It's honestly just an amazing experience to have. Great gameplay, great setpieces, great characterization, meh puzzles.

Oh yeah, and the multiplayer is actually a lot of fun too!

I'm interested in what makes Uncharted 2 so good as well. From what I've seen a lot of people like it, but it just looks like some third person shooter/adventure hybrid to me.
If someone could tell me what makes this game special and unique, please do. I don't really care about eye candy, so superior graphics doesn't make or break a game for me.

Don't take this as criticism, I'm just curious.
The game itself is not unique or special, but it just does everything very well. Great graphics, good controls and solid pacing. It's just a strong development effort, but everything in it you've seen before in some form or another.

The Competitive multiplayer in it was shit. The coop was decent, the Singleplayer is fun and exciting.
Wait, how the hell can a Ps3 owner not know how the fuck Uncharted plays?
Because I just don't. I own MGS4, Infamous, Socom, Demon Souls and Lair (terrible game). I just don't have enough money to buy massive amounts of games. Uncharted never excited me before, but I'm curious about it now.

Thanks, but I'd like to know what makes it a great game. In all honesty, graphics don't matter to me, but if the gameplay is as good as people say it is, then I shall go pick it up.

Well, it depends on what you're comparing it against. I'd say it's a fantastic experience, but it's fairly short. I ran through the campaign pretty quick, and didn't think much of the multiplayer. If you want something you're gonna be playing in the next month, probably not. But if you want something that is going to be an awesome week. Yes, definitely.
First off, thank you for actually giving me general info on the game. I like knowing legnths of the game.
Hmm.. The campaign's short you say? I can run through most game campaigns quickly anyway, so that might not bother me too much as long as it's interesting and FUN.

what makes this game great is not any one thing. its an experience that really cant be explained without playing it. the story will definetly suck you in quick. the cover system, platforming, and shooting all work really well. the dialog between characters is some of the best ive ever heard and usually takes place while platforming and not in cut scenes so the player is hardly ever taken out of the action. almost anyone who played through the entire game will tell you its an exceptional experience that you really have to play yourself to understand why it is such a great game....hope this helped

and This.

Uncharted 2 has a "one of those books that just can't put down" kind of experiences. Multiplayer is fun and addictive as well.

Just wait for MW2.
First off, thanks for the awesome contribution to this thread. And I mean that sarcastically. I'm going to get MW2, but not for PS3, because my online games go to my 360. I like the 360's online better than PSN.

It's very easy for me to say yes and just skip off to class but I'd like to believe I'm doing more of a service by explaining why you should get away from this flashing screen, run to Gamestop, and sit in front of your other flashing screen with Uncharted 2 nestled deep inside of your PS3.

If you love Indiana Jones movies (THERE ARE ONLY THREE) then you will love Uncharted 2. The dialogue is usually short and punchy with the main character of Nathan Drake reminding me a lot of Nathan Fillion in Firefly which is, for me at least, a good thing. The story is filled with betrayal and reminds me of the days when modern summer blockbusters weren't about Michael Bay and his vacuum draining the wallets of the masses.

Gameplay is solid. There are many, many gunfights in the game but there's usually a degree of choice beyond the safe method of Gears of War style velcro your back to a wall and pick off enemies who dare show more than bullet sized flesh to you. You can choose to fling yourself at enemies and engage in a quick-paced fist fight amidst a hail of bullets, find creative ways around the environment before hurling yourself Max Payne style into the fray and put out the fires of your enemies hearts with your soothing lead.

The game is also reminiscent of Jak and Daxter, a series that I adored. The puzzles are sharp and some of them are pretty good head-scratchers and the platforming, oh the platforming. A good chunk of the game is spent traversing gorgeously rendered environments with platforming that feels real. Rather than suspiciously stacked boxes you'll find realistic crumbling handholds.

It's not without its flaws. Some leap of faith gameplay and some cheap combat moments that just make you glare at the screen but the good thing is you want to continue.

I said that if you like Indiana Jones movies, you'll like this and Uncharted 2 provides the same pulse pounding experience that will make you dive for your copy of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I'm mainly and xbox 360 gamer but i got uncharted 2 on release date and i must say i loved it. Its quite short but has TONNES of replay value with all the character skins and weapons as well as being able to flip the world and add filters.
Its a fantastic game so i recommend it, but you won't take long to complete it.
Plus you can play as a SKELETON!

It's totally worth it. It has such a cinematic presentation that is just about as entertaining to watch as it is to play, in a good way, and I mean that as a positive. (unless, of course, the person playing totally sucks)

It is worth it It's one the best games you can get right now. The story is even better then uncharted one. The multiplayer is amazing and it also has one of my faviorte final leveles of any game this year. If you own a PS3 thers no reason you should not have this game.

The single-player is pretty freaking balls-out amazing.

The cutscenes and gameplay feel as one merged experience, unlike MGS4 were they're divided by the Berlin wall. This is a very narrative game and it's quite linear, but it doesn't feel that way this time around.
Even if graphics don't matter with you, it's unlikely you'll be playing this game without having your jaw locked to the floor.

If however, you have no interest in characters or story in a game, you'll probably wont like it. But this is without a doubt the most incredibly epic, high octain, cinematographic action experience to date.

In other words; it's like playing the lead in your favourite action movie for ten hours straight.

Hey guys, my PS3 has been getting kind of dusty lately.
Thats normal, my PS3 gets used at least once a week, and its a huge dust collector.

I'm getting Uncharted 2, that should be on the box, Sush aka Coldstorage's seal of approval. I don't buy games on a whim, I only buy the very best*, any game that I buy and doesn't make the cut (such as fallout 3) instead of trading it in I gut the Disc with sand paper and hang it outside as a warning to all other games that this household will not tolerate failure!.

Games that try to canvass at my front upon seeing the corpse of their compatriots fear knocking on my door trying to spread word of the good lord Miyamoto.

*Ohhh hark at me, I'm such an egoist even when it comes to a pastime reserved for ritalin popping kids!**.

** and that statement only serves to add to my douchebaggeryness.
