Now, I'm not even taking "no" as a real answer, because EVERYONE has a price. And I mean EVERYONE.

So under what circumstances would YOU become a Mercenary, I'm talking a War Mercenary, or maybe even Special Operations.

I'm guessing I'd become one if I got really good payment, and ease of going back to my "home" (wherever I live) whenever I didn't have an assignment.

How about you?

Call me old timey, but I like the payment system of the middle ages, a simple system, a system that rewards people as they work and encourages initiative: The right to loot and pillage >:D gimme that, and I'm set.

Guessing that includes Rape? And looting is generally not done in organized Mercenary forces; Usually you are working for a government so it looks pretty bad for that country if you are burning your way across the country side raping and pillaging as you go. Still, fair answer.

To price to buy a cyanide pill or bullet to make my life as a mercenary as short as possible.

Mercenaries are perhaps the greatest scum to exist. I'd rather die.

Depends more so on 'why me' than it does on the price. If I were had some sort of superpower I'd probably do it for free depending on the cause. But getting paid as a I am now? Well **** that, I would likely die, and believe it or not, I feel money becomes much less valuable once you're dead.

That's all it really comes down to for me, how safe am I and what's the cause?

The cause is what you make it to be, and you are as safe as your cause makes you be. What's your answer in that case?

When no other jobs exist, which will never happen because even mercenaries need people to make their armor/guns, and grow food for them, and knit their undies.

My price is the continued safety of my friends and family, and their friends and family. If they were in danger I'd like to think I'd do whatever it takes to keep them safe. I would never take a human life with money as the only reason, there would have to be more than that.

Under the conditions that they (1) have access to reincarnation technology, (2) guarantee me use of that technology should I die or be grievously injured, (3) give me loads of cash, and (4) wipe my name from their records.

You make this sound hypothetical, when it's actually my plan. I'm gonna go into armed security once I hit 21, get enough experience there for a private military company to hire me, and done.

Or, if I knew for sure that there was a Far Cry 2 situation (i.e. people sitting in a bar waiting to get hired) then I'd be out there once I had the money for a gun and plane ticket.

Congratulations. You've effectively insulted every military serviceman ever.
Not that I necessarily agree with your post, it's just that every government soldier is essentially a mercenary when you think about it.

OT: A don't think any amount of money is going to make me fight and kill someone and possibly die in the process.
Not so much because I'm against fighting itself but because I'm too much of a wuss to actually do it, like most people.
I don't wanna die for money I'll never live to get doing a job that I'd really suck at.

That isn't to say that extremely dire circumstances wouldn't make me fight if I absolutely had to, like if I had to literally fight to survive with no other choice. But at that stage and level of severity money wouldn't even be a consideration.

So would I fight if I really needed too? (and get smashed in the process)
Yes
Would I fight as a mercenary?
Nope

You should try to apply for the actual US army, specially if there's a chance of you getting deployed. Companies like Blackwater hire a lot of War Veterans, and private security ALSO pays better when you've had some real combat experience, so you might want to consider that.

Under the circumstances that they seriously lower their qualifications. I'm not really fit for active duty and all.

I have three conditions:
- I'm allowed to use whatever I want at the cost of my employer (guns, vehicles, etc.)
- I get paid up-front
- No killing unarmed or otherwise defenseless people
