What was the last little surprise you got in a game that tickled you pink when you found it?

I don't mean Easter Eggs or anything like that - although I suppose they do count here - just something that you weren't expecting that was pretty awesome.

Like how badass and Batmobile-like the cars became in Crackdown, or how much fun the 3rd person mode is in MW2.

Speaking of that 3rd person mode, I got to thinking about that yesterday. That mode's a ton of fun, and I think I'll end up playing some more of that tonight when I get home, but I'm not sure if I'd have bought MW2 in the first place if it was only 3rd person.

Anyway, this isn't about MW2, this is about surprises and being surprised by them in a good way.

Commence!

Dragon Ball Raging Blast actually being more enjoyable than just about anything I've played this year.

That includes high profile games btw.

Supreme Commander. Efficency bonuses. Totally unexpected, and is one of the things i always wanted in RTS.

Or bonus musical disk that came with Machinarium. I'm listening to it right now. Yeaaaaaah.

I'd say crackdown as a whole was a surprise to me, I only really bought it for the Halo 3 beta, but god damn what a game in the end.

Living on a prayer for a sequel personally

MGS4 when 'johnny/akiba' ended up being the guard from MGS. It blew my mind/load.
Come on, you just knew that from the first time you meet him! At least, I had a feeling he was :3

The Submarine moment in MW2 was a nice suprise. "The silo doors are opening, I repeat the silo doors are opening." I was literally rocking back and forth squeezing the control with tension.

"It's a me, Mario!" in Assassin's Creed 2, really wasn't expecting that line, it caught me completely off-guard and I burst out laughing.

Modern Warfare 2:
When you finish the level as Roach, expecting to be rescued after all your hard work, only to be shot, thrown in a pit, doused in petrol and then set alight.
Did NOT see that coming.

Awww, I always left him alive, the poor guy had a dodgy stomach, no need to ruin his day further by killing him!

Another, how fun Mini Ninjas was. One of the best Ninja games ever.
Oh really? I'm pleased you've said that actually, really wanted to play it when it first came out but didn't get around to it and eventually my interest waned. I'll definitely give it a rent now. If I don't see it on sale for a low, low price first.

I wish, sitting too close to my giant TV prohibited me from noticing the button prompts until after that first section of the game, so I never saw the flashback, and I just never thought of guy shitting himself, I didn't think that the american army would've been so quick to take back dissenters from shadow moses.

What I gather from the demo its a really enjoyable game. I'll have to buy it later on down the road. Its basically a full fledged Ninja game complete with stealth, platforming and fishing for sushi. Its just all kiddyfied.
Oh yeah, I did play the demo, it's probably still on my hard-drive in fact. I enjoyed, it just wasn't enough to convince me to get around to playing the full game.
To be honest, I just liked running around as cute little animals, especially the pandas and foxes.

When the second beserker just randomly walks into the room in Gears of War. I mean without any cutscene or build up to speak of it just walks in and suddenly it's like:
"OH SHIT RUN!!!"
