Unexpectedly disappointing films

I am a total SAW fanboy, I love the twisted (in both meanings) story, I love "jigsaw" and his motive, I love the traps and gore etc etc etc. Keep in mind, I don't pay attention to how good the actors are, how good the music/lighting is etc.

Yesterday I saw SAW 6 and was disappointed. The first thing I noticed was the blood was pink and not very "bloody", it ran off them instead of stuck to them.

The next thing was how everybody died, except the guy who was going through all the doors. I know this is saw and all the fans want the screen drenched in pink blood but it kind of defeated the point. There was a similar set up in a previous SAW, a guy got saved from drowning in rotten pulped pigs only to die to a shotgun blast in the next room.

(The last thing I didn't like I can't remember what it was, I have sat here for 20 mins trying to remember)

I never put this in reviews section 'cos like I said I don't look at acting ability or lighting/musical score so people would be pissed at me. Another reason is I want to know about other disappointing films so I don't watch them 'cos I love watching films.

Any thoughts on the final SAW are also welcomed (although I am sure I never needed to give you guys permission, I bet most on here hate it).

The Expendables? Naa that was too obvious from the start...

Star Wars Prequels...too obvious again

I would say, errm, Paul actually. I went to see it recently and it was funny and typically Pegg and Frost but it was just weak in comparison to their others and wasn't as good in my opinion

I loved Shaun of the dead but loathe hot fuzz, there was no funny part in that film. I am lost on what I should do with Paul 'cos I am not exactly a fan of E.T either.

Agreed, the second they announced a cast like that I knew they never had any intention of trying to make a good story or even particularly good action scenes. This was going to sell no matter what they did.

A shame really, The Expendables could have gone down in history, instead it's just another film I'll pick up for 50p 10 years down the line.

OT:I probably shouldn't have expected anything... but I was amazed by how boring Skyline was.

they have all these great effects and potential, plus it's a Sci Fi story, so why did I fall asleep in the first hour?

Ah well... maybe Battle L.A. Will be good, though I'm not getting my hopes up until I see a review.

The Golden Compass still sticks out in my mind for shear volume of wasted potential.

I quite liked hot fuzz actually but I haven't seen shaun of the dead so I can't really compare it against it.

I would say that Paul is worth watching if you like Pegg and Frost but its not as good as the other two.

Honestly, the League of Extraordinary gentlemen was a bit of a disappointment for me, I was expecting better.

OT:Battle LA soundtrack better use a song from the album Battle of Los Angeles, or I will really be disappointed.

This as well, I can't believe they renamed it :S ITS NOT A COMPASS ITS AN ALETHIOMETER AND I DON'T CARE IF IT LOOKS LIKE ONE

EDIT:This isn't the only gripe I had about it but the rest is standard affair stuff when you convert a book to a film -.-

How do you know it's not as good as Shaun of the dead if you have never seen it?

Paul, but I didn't exactly have high expectations going in. It was more than likely ruined by the director (who directed Super Bad or whatever).

The first book was published with the title "The Golden Compass" everywhere outside the UK and Australia, so it's not really the movie's fault.

It was still pretty terrible though.

Mainly on what I've heard from, well, just about everyone I've talked to. Plus, my mate, who I went to see the film with, and is like REALLY into Pegg and Frost's films thought the same thing. I probably should have clarified that.

This one I would say. It looked fascinating prior to me watching it, but it was pretty bland overall and the plot didn't make all that much sense.

Pandorum. It started great but fell totally apart. I guess I just think space orcs aren't scary.

In semi-medieval setting this shit is scary, in space it is out of place. Also they don't feel as threatening when there's giant guns around. Sure, the protagonist just happened not to have enough ammo or whatever, but still. Imagine having only a piece of metal to defend yourself against that thing. Now imagine yourself with a big, space-age gun. Now ask yourself do I feel lucky what is scarier?

Also that. I will not hear another word about that travesty again. Books were absolutely epic, film was a shallow piece of garbage.

Actually some of the books where called The Golden Compass as well because of a messup with the American publisher. I think it's a better title than Northern Lights, actually, because it fits in well with the other two. The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass.

i'll tell you why

EVERYONE PAY ATTENTION

after terminator 2, James Cameron expected that to be the end of the series. in other words, john and sarah beat skynet. but then two new guys wanted to keep it going so they got the rights from cameron and starting making the crap that is Terminator 3, salvation, and that tv show that had the firefly chick.

thats why

I was a little disappointed when I first saw Kickass. Now stay with me here. It was a good movie, but every ad I saw for it made me expect a action/comedy movie and what I got was a movie with the mood of the Departed with some random funny bits thrown there. If I had been expecting superhero + Departed then I would have loved it. I just wasn't expecting it to be so dark.

I would like to watch it again though, and I think I would enjoy it more this time.

I really shouldn't have been surprised, but I WAS surprised that it was as dreadfully abysmal as it turned out to be. Wolverine: Origins. I'm a HUGE Deadpool fan, and I went to see it just to see a film with Deadpool in it. I was devastated. D:

I spent the rest of the evening with my other comic nerd friends, with all of our X-Men and Deadpool comics in the middle of the room, passing them around, trying to purge our minds.
