Phoenix Wright sounded a little too weird as a a premise but I figured what the hell it's getting decent reviews asked for it for Christmas and was blown away.

To a minor extent Wild Arm 3, I saw it for 4.99 and the guy at the counter said it was okay but Wild Arms 4 was better. They didn't have 4 so I picked this up and it's amazing. On a side note I picked up Wild Arms 4 awhile later and aside from the combat the game was fairly poor taking most of the things I loved about Wild Arms 3 out.

Braid. Honestly I thought the whole concept was retarded but I bought it for $2.50 yesterday from Steam and I'm enjoying myself :)

X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it has suck written all over it, being a movie based game and all. But not only is it good (really good) it's better than the movie it's based on.
i thought so as well, but it turned out as a pretty good hack-n-slash :D

i thought Killing Floor was going to be average... it wasnt. IT WAS AWESOME. the mechanics were great, the concept was simple and great and Tripwire is the king of Fanservice.

when you got bored with the game, they´d throw in a few new maps, some weapons and a new ZED, and it felt all new.

my Steam isnt lying saying i spend 60.4 hours on that piece of mother. and i think it´ll add 20 more when the Tommygun and the Bren comes with the next DLC.

Well here's one you're not likely to see very often... Halo. I figured it was yet ANOTHER overly hyped cookie cutter FPS with no story to it. My heart sank when I got it as a gift, but everyone was so excited to see me enjoy it so I faked a smile and popped it in the xbox. I didn't sleep that night.

Far Cry 2.
Whereas the original was a sloppy, uninspired tech demo; the sequel-in-name-only took me quite by surprise.
Immersive, nihilistic, ambient...everything you could expect from a contemporary setting in Africa.

Left 4 Dead. I was a little skeptical given that every FPS I had ever tried in my life (Medal of Honour, Call of Duty) all sucked arse.

I got it for a Chirstmas present and was waiting for yet another bombshell, what I got was a zombie apocalypse masterpiece with thrills up the yazoo! Now I'm a total L4D nutball who can't get enough of the series and thnaks to this experience I'm a little more open to FPS'S.

Call of Duty and Medal Of Honour are still strict no-go's mind you.

The only unexpectedly good game I have played is Mischief Makers. The picture on the front of the box made it looked like it was gonna be something really silly and lame, but to my surprise it was a lot of fun and there is lots to do in it. Hidden Diamond with something different to offer.
I kinda liked Mischief Makers, but I stopped liking it when i realized I sucked at it and couldn't progress in it (yeah, I'm dumb), but I know it's a good game. I just don't know how to play it XD

COD: WAW
I only bought it because my friend wouldn't stop nagging me about it
I ended up playing it non-stop(figuratively) for a week
I was going to search the forums to see if there was a similar thread. The thing is, I didn't know what word to search for, really .___."

While many won't agree with me on this, I surprised how fun Haze was. I still play if from time to time, kicking someone in the face never gets old.

Your not the only one, two friends I recommended it to loved it but couldn't figure out some of techniques you needed to pass some levels. I figured it though, a lot of people got stuck on the fourth stage when they needed to mix items in a pot and shake it to make a potion for flying up a big hill while avoiding enemy's.

Modern Warfare 2. I thought it was gonna be shit, then my brother bought it, and well, let's just say I've earned 640g from it.
I didn't think it was going to be shit. Just too overhyped for me to care about. While I've always been a fan of CoD, I just wasn't that interested in this modern warfare bullshit. But yes it's good. Very good. Even the multiplayer which I thought I'd hate(although it's not the best, it's better than I expected).

This came with my Genesis. I thought it was just an adventure game about finding dolphins.

It blew my mind.

In Ecco, you:
travel through time
go to space
kill an alien queen with dolphin sonar

I bought Fallout 1 and 2 specifically so that I could talk about how Fallout 3 was so much better.
Man did I get that all wrong.

Chromehounds. If you haven't heard of it, I can understand. It was released shortly after launch of the 360, and quickly forgotten. Perhaps that's because it was before LIVE was a mandate for 360 owners, but the main focus of the game was the online play. The game revolves around mech combat, and is sort of a fusion class-based-third-person-squad-based-real-time-strategy-shooter. The single player mode was essentially a tutorial on each of the six classes, and to unlock parts to get started in the 'Nermonius War' mode. This takes place in an alternate history Next Sunday AD, when mechs have replaced (for the most part) tanks and foot soldiers. You are part of an elite mercenary company, and you get hired out by one of the three nations vying for control of a Middle Eastern area rich in resources. Once you chose a nation to fight for, you are given a basic mech that you can augment using parts unlocked in single player and parts bought with money earned from battles. You then join up with a clan, a guild of sorts, and you can go into the fray and attempt to capture a plot of land for your nation to expand their hold on the area. Battles with other players would presumably be exciting, except that no one has the game, so battles are you and maybe a freind against some AI opponents. Victory is gained when you either destroy the enemy's base (you and your enemy each have three bases, only one marked by a flag is the real one), or completely destroy the enemy. I heard nothing about this game, and picked it up on a whim, thinking it might be worth a laugh or two. It's at very least worth a rental.
sadly they shut down the servers for chromehounds effectivly crippling it seeing as multiplayer was basically the entire game :/
