i think bioshock 2 is better than the first. story wise.
I think it's about even, which is still blasphemous as far as most people are concerned.

EDIT: Oh yes, and I occasionally noob-tube in MW2. And I enjoy it.

Thinking that Psychonauts is not quite as transcendent as most people think. Oh, it's quite good but those nigh-impossible-to-finish collection quest bollocks dimmed it a bit in my eyes. Psychonauts, not in my top five.

Oh, and before I forget:

/flameshield on

*sigh* One can never be too careful when expressing one's thoughts these days.

I don't like 99% of shooters.
I don't like consoles.
I don't think Starcraft and Warcraft were the best RTSes ever created.
I find jRPG boring, especially Pokemon series.

And, generally i don't believe in 'gamers sins', because i don't like elitism. Everyone likes something different, and as long as the market generally spits out something for everyone, it's good.

It almost seems as if it's a sin to dislike the Half Life series.

If that's the case, then let the power of Christ compel me. I hated the Half Life series.....
I agree. The last Half Life game I played and enjoyed (For a time) was "Blue Shift / Opposing Force," and honestly, I didn't really like either of those. Half Life seems like it has always just combined the same lame physics puzzles with the same meh story time and time again. Not to mention Gordon Freeman, the physicist turned supersoldier. I felt like every character is a sub par, completely forgettable character, who doesn't even so much as twinge my empathy radar.

Grand Theft Auto 4 was the most boring game since, well, ever.
Also, I enjoyed playing the Sims once (The building houses part, not the simulation part, the simulation part can gtfo.).

That's probably because you were, according to your profile, six when the first Half-Life game came out. It brought a level of immersion never seen before in an FPS. The scripted sequences in it had never been done on the level that Half-Life performed them, and the AI of the Hgrunts was amazing at the time. Enemies in an FPS that actually used a waypoint system to maneuver around objects, and could choose between assaulting, retreating, defending, throwing grenades, flanking, it hadn't been done. It was released when I was 13, and I still regard it as being a great game for what it did. What's more amazing to me is that I still haven't seen enemies that behave as believably as the grunts from the original Half-Life. Even in Half-Life 2, Doom 3, Crysis, Stalker, game of the day, they all just seem to charge and never take cover. So the coding is still impressive to me.
However I understand if you don't get the Gordon Freeman love, I've never really liked him either. It was what the game did that was important, and Half-Life 2 never expanded on it at all, it just made Freeman a gift from God. Yes it gave you a gravity gun, and then sent you on a car/hoverboat chase for 1/3 of the game. Adrian Shepherd from Opposing Force was always my favorite character, a bit more believable to me that a Marine can handle an army of alien forces than an MIT scientist with a crowbar.
So don't judge the Half-Life series based on Half-Life 2, because honestly it seems that Valve has turned it into a convoluted story along the lines of the X-Files, but I would say the first game deserves massive respect because it transformed FPS games with the advanced interactivity.

The game that I have the most playtime on is a Sonic the Hedgehog fangame in the Doom engine.

Over 400 hours, shit that's alot of low-res Sonic.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I thought Sins of a Solar Empire was 'bleh' at best.

I feel I have committed the largest gaming sin possible, in disliking the orange box bar portal, and liking MW2.

Oh, and as far as massive gaming sins, I think Ocarina of Time was an overhyped boring piece of shit, and Link to the Past and Link's Awakening were far better. It actually took me a year and a half to finally force myself through Ocarina of Time and I've never felt any desire to play it again. I also think Windwaker was better, cel-shading be damned.

Yes, this! Link's Awakening was my favourite Zelda game by far (though that might be tainted by nostalgic feelings) but still today I play it and enjoy it. Whereas, like you, I had to force myself to play through Ocarina of Time, and it felt like more of a chore than play a game. My friend still states today that it was the best Zelda game ever made, and for the life of me I can't figure out why.

I know that the first game was revolutionary and did a lot to influence how games are now, but that doesn't mean I should like the game. I have played all of them I think and I found them very bland. I understand that it was the shit when it came out, but nowadays, they're awful compared to some of the stuff that's around now.

Yes Half Life was a good game back in the day and we have to thank it for how games are now, but compared to today's games, everything about the Half Life series has been done better.

*gasp* HERESY!

Jokes aside, I probably prefer the story of the first one (minus final boss encounter) but I really loved the side story in the second one which you follow on the audiotapes about a guy (Mark Meltzer?) who came to Rapture to try and find his kidnapped daughter. He finally catches up with her only to find she's been made into a lttle sister, so he offers himself up to become a big daddy so he can stay with her. The first game lacked moments like that.

I burned down a large wii producting factory. That's why there were shortages at launch. seems like a pretty big sin to me...

Oh... I didn't do that? Hmmm... then all other, "sins" are just facetious.

I was thinking about that today, I was thinking, "who in my generation hasn't played mario!?" It seemed odd. I mean, even third world countries are getting in on it through piracy.

EDIT: Hrmph, excuse me, that should read, "under developed". I apologize for my archaic vocab.

I enjoy Modern Warfare 2 and Jericho due to reasons I've never worked out. Also I hated Psychonauts.

Edit: I have never played a Mario game due to the fact I have a PS3/PS2 and just never enjoyed platforming that much.
