I've been getting bored with the music I've been listening to as of late.
What r some of ur favorite unique bands?
Either the band themselves is unique or the music/sound is unique.
I'll start with my most recently listened to unique band....

Streetlight manifesto. but those guys sorta came out catch 22 and are a product of thirdwave ska, so does that still count as unique? surely..

Failing that,
Mute math.
Those guys just rock. Even the song they made for twilight, but could even an awesome song save that movie? no. No it couldn't.

Serj Tankian. Whether he's singing with SOAD or by himself, I haven't listened to a song by him that I haven't liked.

Define "unique".
a band or song(s) that was unlike anything you've heard b4. something that made you want to hear more.
First off your a poet and didn't know it. Second inb4 "Nothing is unique, everything is copied etc. etc."
Finally: I can't think of anything.

It's hard to pick anything, because as has already been predicted that will be said, everything has been done before, or at least the influences can be ascertained.

Some unique songs I spose, all gotten from my tired raids of youtube early in the morning. (Why am I wasting my life?)

DJ Kentaro doing some advertisement

Antoine dufour is fairly unique in my opinion, weird mix of contemporary steel string playing.

This guy, well it's sorta unique?

Paul Gilbert once again, sort of unique, but not really, if nothing else look at the extra knuckle on his pinky. (WTF?)

And this for laughs.

I would have posted buckethead, but your avatar tells me you have already been awakened to his.. peculiar brand of music.

Explosions in the Sky is what I think of when I hear "unique," whether it is or not.
I think "Excellent" also applies.

Here are a few:

Pink Floyd
An old Avant-garde favourite of mine. They were revolutionary at the time, they still have great implications now. Rock at its finest, with the best vocal solo EVER in their Great Gig In The Sky album. LSD too as anyone who has seen The Wall will tell you.

Pain of Salvation
Progressive and conceptual, PoS have excellent concept albums in Perfect Element and BE. The latter is one of my favourite of all time. Based around the concept of megalomania, God, Man and Money, it's a stirring combination from many excellent musicians.

Ayeron
Again with the concept albums. Similarities are strong between BE and Ayeron's The Human Equation. Similar music styles, the execution branches into less orthodox instruments in Ayeron.

Meshuggah
Avant-garde metal never sounded so brutal. Polyrhythms galore, Meshuggah has pushed the boundaries of what a human headbanger can take while still delivering one of the most outrageously awesome music videos ever in New Millennium Cyanide Christ. Who else gets away with being wasted and air-banding on a bus?

Godspeed you! Black Emperor
F#, A#, Infinity is a fantastic album dealing with the breakdown of society. Other music from Godspeed is just as good, but that's a favourite. The first song, The Dead Flag Blues, is the perfect thing to have on repeat while playing Half-life or Fallout.

Sigur Ros
If you've spoken with me about concerts, guaranteed I'd have brought Sigur Ros up. Their performance in Sydney was the most moving gig I've ever attended. These shows come highly recommended to anyone, regardless of your musical background and with a Labyrinth stamp of approval. They will make you laugh and make you cry.

Apocalyptica
Four cellos playing heavy metal. Must more be said?

'Yes' are unique, trying different sound combinations and formulas while creating songs that go for 10mins or more.

As Labyrinth already said Pain of Salvation and Ayreon (she spelled it wrong, I think) are great, you should really try them.

Mors Principium Est is great at blending death metal with melody. I've heard melo-death bands before but these guys stand out.

Sorry, i just have to say.
It takes miliseconds to type like a normal person. Typing like you've recently come out of a coma will only make people want to put you back in one.
Right, got that out of my system.
Recently i've been listening to a band and an artist i quite like. 'A Camp' is a refreshing sound as is 'lightspeed champion' perfect easy listening.

Starfucker, they're pretty original. Or Cranes, they mix almost every instrument into their songs and it still sounds good, hell they've even got songs sung in various languages, by the same singer.
