This is replacing the original, which was so poorly written it was creating confusion

I would like to apologise for the extremely poor quality of my original posts. It was late and I was in a big hurry

Yes this will affect YOU, this is an international trade agreement, thats going to be crucial to sneaking it past congress
http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2009/11/policy-laundering/
But it means that it will affect all of the USs trading partners, I.E. EVERYONE

Youtube will not be taken down for 3 reasons:

2) It will be rezed somewhere else
That is the point, it isnt just YouTube it is any file sharing site, the term they use is internet service provider(ISP).

The copy right issues aside this goes to a much deeper issue of censorship and the presumption of innocents.

The agreement will mean that any organization can claim copy right infringement and YouTube will have to take it down. Any negative press coverage any negative Video Blogging, that person/ organization can claim copyright and have the video taken down. The poster has to fight a court battle to have the video back. This is directly opposed to the presumption of innocents that you have to prove that someone has broken the law before taking punitive action.

There is also the problem that large entertainment companies ( Vi@com) will make bad faith claims. They will claim that they own video knowing that they dont because the individual does not have the resources to sue

To all those saying that this isnt going to happen well that is just not the point. They are writing the document knowing that it will be watered down, but the end result is still going to more internet censorship. If the government were to draft a law saying that you could be held indefinitely without charge, it is no victory for the law to be watered down to being held for seven days without charge because it is still a successful attack on our rights

To those that dislike the current YouTube, no one is stopping you from starting a new site that demands a minimum quality of work but that is exactly what this legislation would stop you from doing, allowing you freedom of creativity on the web.

Please I really Dont want this to happen, anyone can disprove any of the sources I sighted, find any proof Im wrong let us know so that I can stop worrying, please

Theoretically they're only trying to shut down the sections which breach copyright? I suppose that is a very large percentage of what is on youtube (and what people use it for). It seems like a big thing to try and do though.

Meh, youtube is horrible anyway. Sure, it will be hard to find clips you'd like to watch online, but you can find other ways without having to deal with the worst managed community ever. Although it is a real shame for the people that don't break copyright rules and just try to share their own videos with the community. Youtube is a good starting point if you want to get famous.

The United State government is trying to shut down Youtube, Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement.

all Interservice providers will be legaly liable for any copyright breach by any user

the goverment will have your internet provider discontinue your service if anybody in your house is ACCUSSED of illagaly downloading anything, three times.
YouTube != downloading. Youtube is owned by a large, profitable company that already has a vested interest in keeping copyrighted content off of their site. I don't really see how the first sentence of your post follows from the rest.

So they finally caught onto all the underground pyramid kiddie porn schemes? Anywho, besides all the copyright infringement going on between those who are too l33t for others, is there anything else in that clusterf**k that is called phrases which are understandable?

Sorry about the presentation here are the important bits

ACTA members have to provide for third-party liability
Parties to provide adequate civil and criminal remedies that are specific to infringements

That means that any company can sue youtube for copyright infringement if they can prove that some one using youtube lost them money

contain "broad" provisions regarding notice-and-takedown mechanisms
You tube can be told to take down any thing and they have to, no legal challenge, nothing.

This can be done to facebook, flicker pretty much anything

Impossible. Youtube is a natural entity, and even if it was brought down, another, possibly even a better competitor, would bring the next generation into mark it. Fact of the matter is, for all of our superiority-touting Escapist and quality-governing Newgrounds, people suck, and they want to try to convince themselves of their non-suckage by proving it to the world. This kind of thing would just come back. If the government closed Rush Limbaugh's studio and brought down Fox News, another superconservative medium would arise, like a phoenix from the ashes.

Youtube's not going anywhere, no matter what happens to it, simply because, unlike the banks, it IS to big to fail.

A fake, dear Watson. For a start, this issue was alread addressed about 2 years ago with YouTube, and since then they already have implemented measures to defend against copyright videos and so on. Such an act would be taken against all online media sites, making it a very big task and, as hinted above, I seriously doubt a tip off from a new poster on a game culture website would be where I would hear about it first.

I haven't heard anything about this. It'd take something massive to close down youtube, as they already screen for copyrighted stuff and take it off promptly.
