Awesome concept...but the whole physics of it are monstrous and just plain stupid. A novel from the series actually kind of points this out. It's from Gaunt's Ghosts, in a flashback, when the titular character, Ibram Gaunt, is having a chainsword duel.

Again, awesome scene, but when the narrating character himself is pointing out how utterly dumb the action he is doing, is...something is wrong...

The laser from the halo series. it only has 5 rounds, takes 5 seconds to charge up, and kills anything that is perfectly straight in front of you. also can reach all the way on the other side of the map, going through targets (up to 10 vehicles i believe).
