I think Metroid Other M was great, story and all. Also, ES IV: Oblivion was quite boring. I played through the whole story as well as a few side quests, but I just couldn't say I liked it in the end.

I think that both Portal and the Half-Life series are the most overrated things in the world. I want them to go away so I can finally stop hearing people ***** about 'Half-life 3: Episode 3: III: The Third Game: V3: Crowbar Simulator 3: Ass' and all of that "The portal is a lie!" and "Now you're thinking with cake!". It's dumb. I have vented. That will be all.

oh and Dragon mounts is a stupid idea, and anyone who says otherwise deserves a puch in the head and a lecture on how causual gaming is destroying the integrity of great games/series.
Bretons are the master race in the Elder Scrolls
Gen 5 of Pokemon is great and people who say otherwise can go and try making it, so we can all laugh at them when the fail.
Visual novels such as Muv Luv are games and have more merit as games than that of games like COD.
Soldier is the crappiest class in Mass effect.
Ocarina of time isn't the best Zelda game. (Majora's Mask is)
Metroid Prime is the better than classic Metroid games.
The Megaman battle network games are the best games in the franchise.
Trolling is the only fun thing to do in MMORPG's
Dubstep ruins any game period, no exceptions.
Arguing over which console or platform to play a game on is stupid, and thus arguing over it makes those arguing about it stupid.
Blood, gore, swearing, drugs and all that Jazz don't make a game better in any way shape or form.
Trading in games is dumb and a waste of money.
Hack and slash games are boring and a waste of time.
Assassin's creed is a shitty game series, and has a horrendous plot.
Pirating games that aren't sold in your area/translated in your language, or are discontinued (IE:Super robot wars Alpha) is fine.
Camping in call of duty etc. is a legit strategy, and it forces other players to try new tactics/think more, thus making it a better experience for all players.
"no-scopeing", "barrel-stuffing", "trick-shots", "wall-banging", and all other related terms are stupid and repeating or practicing them is proof you are a bad player.
Fire Fly wasn't the best show ever.
You're a great man and I salute you.
Only what do you mean by Hack n' Slash games? Do you mean stuff like DMC and GoW.

Can't comment on the other stuff.

My List:
Portal 1 is a good game, but it's not the best game of all time, at most it's a top 100.
Gen 1 pokemon games are badly made, horrible spirtes, unbalanced gameplay and incredibly buggy.
Skyward Sword is a flawed masterpiece.
Twilight Princess is the worst 3D Zelda.
Mario Galaxy 1 isn't that good, though the post game is pretty good, Galaxy 2 is awesome, though.
JRPGs are better than FPS.
Nintendo is a good videogame company, better than almost all Japanese companies and Western ones.
Persona 3 is more interesting than 4 due to the themes.
PopCap is a good video game developer.
The God of War series is inferior to Devil May Cry 3.
A game being hard isn't a sign of it being good, as Super Mario Bros.: the Lost Levels taught me.
The New Super Mario Bros. series are pretty good games, but they are derivative.
Alan Wake is the only game to achieve the status of So Bad it's Good.

Call of Duty is one of the best game series
Bioware games are outstanding, yes that includes Dragon Age 2(Story was awesome and gameplay was... acceptable. Not as good as origins but acceptable) and Mass Effect 3 (haven't gotten to the dreaded ending yet since I have been busy and I have what may be the biggest backlog that has ever existed... plus I don't finish games in a few sittings but shift around game to game until I eventually finish them.)
Piracy is basically exactly equivilant to theft
More games need to be made about the norse gods (not sure if unpopular but there you go.)
Modern Military Shooters are not a blight upon gaming, just a genre that is very popular but has some outspoken critics.

Just a quick one: I really like the new design for Dante!
There's nothing wrong with a good reboot when a series is on life-support.

Borderlands is actually quite awful. The only thing it had going for it was the graphical style, and that isn't enough to hold up one game, let alone two.

Halo is slow and boring.

Resident Evil should stop being Gears of War.

Paying for Xbox live so you can play with others is a ripoff.

Once you hit max level in a MMO...just quit and enjoy other games

Consoles should have mouse key board support.

Able to play with other players on all networks. PSN, MSN, PC and Nintendo.

Square Soft was way better than Square Enix.

I've got to agree with BioShock.

BioShock looks amazing, the mood is amazing, the combat is good, the genetic engineering, but it just didn't appeal to me for some reason. It should, but I got bored.

Mass Effect was a game I just couldn't stand. The combat wasn't anything special and the story dragged on for so long that I stopped caring about what they said or what happened. I realized that when I was skipping most of the story in a game that seems to focus that much on story then I was doing something wrong.

What you and some other guy asked
The large functions put up to watch "pro" players play these games and the money the players win support an unrealistic portrayal of what a "gamer" is, and the games themselves are nothing more than point and click math problems. While Halo and CoD dumb down just one genre, these MOBA games dumb down an entire platform of the gaming industry, and they're praised for doing it.
Generally no one gives a shit about the huge ass LoL and Starcraft tournaments except for people already in the fandom. It's not going to sway the opinions of gamers in general. Also Halo and CoD have huge tournaments that are even more publicized because at this point FPSes are more mainstream than MOBAs ever will be. I mean MOBAs are a brand new genre compared to other ones, only dating back to DoTA which was in what? 2004? I don't see how they're damaging to the industry. They don't seem to be having as much of an influence on the gaming industry as a whole as the FPS.

In regards to SC2, do you just dislike RTSes or do you hate SC2 for marginalizing other RTS games?
That's not true at all. SC in particular destroyed an entire market in South Korea because of what the best players were awarded and it set the standard for what a professional player was supposed to play in that country. For every one "wanna-be" pro in any FPS I guarantee you there are 10 other wanna-be pros for MOBAs and SC/SC2. If "no one" gave a shit about the tournaments aside from fans, then why are they constantly the most viewed streams on twitch/justintv? The reach of MOBAs and SC/SC2 is beyond the scope of what some people think it is, not to say you yourself don't realize it.

Personally, I have no problem with RTSes. SC2 was really fun, until it became a marginalized math problem in multiplayer. But yes, I do believe SC and SC2 really limit what an RTS can be. Since it's so successful, other developers look at it as a standard, when it's anything but. And because of that, we lose out on amazing games because they're not up to a false standard.

I get that's kind of a silly opinion to have, because CoD and Halo have done that to the FPS. But the FPS is limited in the scope of what it can do, you're a guy shooting guys who are in front of you. I think RTSes have a much broader spectrum of what they can create and what you can do with them.

Oh boy, prepare yourself keyboard:

The PC is not God-tier.5
Well, God-tier is subjective, but PC is undoubtedly better than consoles for everything except comfort and accessibility.

Morrowind is the worst Elder Scrolls game that I have played.
Portal 1 was good but not perfect.
Duke Nukem Forever was not the worst thing to grace God's green Earth.
Bioshock had a great story, that does not make it a great game.
Those are all facts, let's be honest... Morrowind has a ton of flaws (You should def. not play Daggerfall lol), Portal 1 has flaws, Duke Nukem Forever is not worse than the Holocaust, and Bioshock was a great game for more than just the story...

I'm kidding... You're right, Bioshock's weaknesses lied in gameplay.

The controller is a better way to play most games.
Competitively it is undeniably worse. It is actually impossible to have the same degree of reflexes with a joystick than a mouse (which is funny considering that the mouse wasn't made with gaming in mind). This is easily explainable if you think about it. There is an x and a y on your desk that you can move your mouse to instantaneously to aim at any location you could possibly look at in an instant. No matter what your sensitivity, it will always take you longer (and be more difficult) to move to that location with a controller.

Of course it is all about personal preference, and people like me just tend to master both of them, but in a head to head, the controller has a disadvantage.

TBH though, I prefer controllers as they are more streamlined. We really need a new type of mouse thing for gaming.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is shockingly bad.
Agreed.

Braid is a piece of artsy-fartsy junk that would be good if it didn't shove symbolism down my throat every two minutes.
Also agreed, but I didn't think the art detracted from the gameplay.

Half-Life 1 is overrated.
If you didn't play it when it came out then sure... It seems overrated. But it was so cool when it came out. Maybe try Black Mesa if you want to experience some of that same WOW factor.

Episode three can wait, Valve are making good games as it is.
Sure... no one wants a rushed product either.

EA, Activision and other such publishers are not not the source of all evil.
I'm not going to take this one literally lol. What you mean, obviously, is that EA and Activision are not as bad as they seem. For the majority of people it is true, and for some people it is only slightly true.

It's a fucking business, and that's how life works.

Bioshock is good, but i found it a bit short and even then thought some sections dragged on a bit.

Beyond that, what have we got:

The console debate is pointless as the only real difference between the 360 and the PS3 is a handful of good console exclusive games and the WII has the WII U now, which i can't comment on, but in terms of power they're basically all the same now, so i see no reason for the fanboy attitude some people have.

Duke Nukem forever, I don't think it was a bad game, not saying it's good, but the first section I enjoyed, before it became a standard FPS slog, but it still has its moments.

Dead space was boring, might be because I've played a lot of survival horror, but once you got past the opening section of the game and before the run up to the final boss, it just felt like they were pottering around. That applies to 1 and 2 for me, one of the few games I've had to force myself to finish. I don't know why a few people seem to find this scary.

GTA vice city is my favourite of the series, sure San Andreas was bigger and better, but Vice City was my first and the others, well they just weren't as fun for me. Though i did love that territory take over thing from San Andreas. Oh and 4 was boring but that seems to be common.

And I got nothing else that I'm sure isn't that popular or widely said.

It does not put them above criticism, nor has "it's just business" ever been a valid reason to justify business practices that people may find undesirable.

All companies perform undesirable business practices. To think otherwise is plain naive...

Companies like Apple and Valve just have good PR departments.

As someone who is working his way into the game industry, I think Activision is really fucked up. They've reverted to fucking over developers which is exactly what the company was started to prevent. But it's all about the money, and the worst part is Activision was right.

Kotick has made so much money off of the CoD franchise and he knows what the people want and gives it to them. Developers of any software will always get shafted, and Kotick would be stupid to not do what is legally most profitable for the company.

Skyrim is absolute crap unless it's modded to hell.
I'm not in a hurry to see the next Half-Life. It will come when it's done.
Tiberian Sun kicks so much ass.
I play games for the single-player, with the exception of a select few.
I don't like Halo.
I liked Final Fantasy 8 more than 7.

I suppose I'll think of a few more soon.

PS1 > Saturn (bigger library).
PS2 > Dreamcast (bigger library, better controller).
Handhelds > Home consoles.
Half-Life is meh.
3D Zelda after Ocarina of Time is boring and unimaginative (and its design is horrible).
Steam is DRM, and I don't endorse a future where all games are tied to it.
I like Jeff Gerstmann's and Yahtzee's cold rants on things people love, even if I don't agree with them.
The Xbox 360 controller sucks (horrible d-pad and stiff buttons) and the Dual Shock 3 is much better.
Lone Survivor is a piece of crap.
Dead Space is the most derivative and uninspired game story I've ever seen (though the gameplay is mostly good).
Single player is where a typical game should be held, because it's so easy to have a bad experience online.

Wind Waker sailing was fun and immersive and not at all tedious.

The Wii could've had the best shooter controls in all of gaming (see Metroid), but poor game design ruined it.

People need to shut up about Nintendo reusing franchises. I wish they'd do it as much as other companies.

The Dualshock controller is poorly designed.

An AAA game that is terrible is usually better than an Indie game that is great.

Skepticism in the game industry is usually wrong.

A Lenovo laptop is ideal for PC gaming without a mouse (elaboration upon request).

Violent videogames affect children. Maybe not in the "causes killing sprees" way, but in the "makes them obnoxious douchebags with no manners" way.

A lot of those are popular opinions. I suppose it depends on where you're talking.

I found that j-rpgs just dont get the attention it deserves (exept final fantasy, that dosent count) let me look back to see a little game by the name earthbound that never got popular and never caught on and has now becaume more of a a collecters item than a game.
