I hate the Final Fantasy series and every single game in it. I think it has gone way past it's experation date. And I don't hide this opinion from others.

It's not video game related, but I HATE Led Zeppelin. I hate Robert Plant's shrill, screeching voice, Jimmy Page is overrated, Bonham is moron. John Paul Jones is okay though,

I'm fine with religion in the world today (Corollary: Fred Phelps, et al are members of their respective faiths in the same way that I'm a 30-foot tall sentient Jell-o mold).

I simply stated that no matter where I go, almost everyone seems to think I'm wrong. I did not say I knew the secrets of life or was never wrong, I simply stated that on forums as well as in real life, no one ever believes me. Not whining, just stating an annoying pattern.
I'm not criticizing you. you seem to have misunderstood my intent. I was giving a joking example of exactly what you're talking about. I'm sincere about what I said.

I find religion to be a useful, essential part of human society, especially in the modern world.

88% of the internet disagrees with that sentence. 7% are too busy writing responses asking for a study to back up the previous statistic.

EDIT: The remaining 5% were likely mad those two percentages didn't add up to 100%.
I find religion to be a festering cloud of misinformation that kills people in brutal and sadistic ways and justifies it with a hand wave that has overstayed its time and needs to be eradicated as soon as it is practical to do so.

Despite being almost the exact opposite of your opinion, this is also a very unpopular view. I guess it just goes to show people in general don't like drama, huh?
Haha, this is so very true. We are just opposite ends of the spectrum, and no one likes an extreme.

And of course I understand why you feel the way you do. Religion has led to more death than, I'm guessing, anything else on earth besides disease. And yet I can't help but think that if all we had to live for was science and cold, hard reality, there would be a ton of suicides out there...

The way I see it, religion when done right is the warm cuddly dog that helps you through the hard times, but when done wrong turns into a vicious, crazed, violent hound. But really, who could imagine a world without dogs?
There is merit to your view, and I respect that. You're right, nothing is ever black and white. You've just got to decide whether the benefits outweigh the consequences for you personally.

Mind how you go.
You as well. We need sane people in this world.

I only really have 2 "unpopular" opinions. I felt that Bioshock 2 was awesome even without a "Smart" undertone, especially with Rocket Ammo for the Spear Gun. Also that, while the pacing of the story and the overall scale was sadly rushed thanks to EA, Brutal Legend was fucking awesome. It made RTSes fun on consoles by not trying to be a watered down Starcraft with shittier controls. It really doesn't deserve to be another Cult Classic for Double Fine to add to the pile.

But if someone disagrees with me in general and is calm about it, I'm fine with it. But if they're assholes about it, then I subtly troll them while still validly debating them.

I thought Bioshock 2 was great as well. It wasn't exactly as intelligent as the first but it definitely worked.

I hate multi-player,that's kind of hard to defend with my friends. Unless it's couch co-op (or vs.) it's not for me.

I liked Too Human. Sure the control system was a mess, the death animation was a fucking pain and the customisation menus were annoying but you know what the game was fun and to me that is the most essential part of a game, if you don't enjoy a game then why the hell are you playing it?

I find the Dragon Age series to be quite meh to amount of praise they receive, and I find Dragon Age 2 to be even worse than the first one based on the demo.

I also find Mass Effect 2 to be inferior to Mass Effect 1, and while they both have great stories, they are lackluster in gameplay and in no way deserves any kind of awards for what they've done.

I find the push for video games to be art to be utterly trivial and idiotic, a lot of this stems from the fact that this apparently gives people some sort of right to condescend on other people who do not share the same views or opinions about gaming. These people constantly go on about how people who have differing views kill gaming and push the medium back a few years.

I find Extra Credits to not be as praise-worthy as most would make them out to be and at times to be questionable or downright terrible. They really like to bring up issues that are minor at most and while they do push gaming to be taken seriously, they seem to only advocate story-telling and narrative to be the leading force, instead of considering other aspects of gaming that could be improved on, so much for "Because games matter".

My main unpopular opinion? I don't think Team Fortress 2 is all that great. Nothing against the people who play it though.

Recently I've been getting a lot of flak for liking JRPG's too...

-FortressCraft makes me happy.
-Dragon Age 2 looks awesome.
-Alpha Protocol was one of the best games released last year.
-Mojave is no better than Obsidian in terms of development strategies.
-Tali doesn't seem sexually appealing at all.

Ooooh, this too but for differing reasons. I watch it every week but some of their points are misleading, debatable (however, he gets to 1 sided debate on his podium), and at times a bit too pretentious and presumptuous. I am getting annoyed at people siting the show so often instead of offering their views. It is getting as bad as the "Yahtzee's word is law" posters. If not worse because EC tries to come off as credible and factual.

I'm very picky about girls. Tall, preferably a size 10-12. This shares unpopular belief when a reasonably good looking short girl comes my way and I'm just not interested. Not my fault.

I dislike Starcraft, GTA series, Halo, Fallot 3/New Vegas, Red Dead Redemption, and I couldn't really care much for Call Of Duty Mod 1, 2 and Black Ops. Starcraft is pointless unit spamming, Halo is just a un-original series that isn't really as fun as people say it is, GTA is a series full or stereotypes and boring repetitive violence, Fallot 3 and NewVegas are both piece of crap games compared to the originals, Red Dead Redemption was only fun for 1 Playthrough and the Online was full of people doing nothing but PKing the low ranked players, and the COD series has average singleplayer gameplay/stories and the online is full of trash talking guys who live in their mums basement while yelling racial slurs into a microphone at someone halfway across the world.

I really don't have unpopular opinions about video games since I don't play much. But I do have unpopular opinions about movies.

For example, I think Star Wars sucks. (Including Episode IV, V and VI)
FOR THIS YOU DIE IN YOUR SLEEP!!!! *Angerface* :p

OT: Im surrounded by football fans and such. And I hate football(soccer for you yanks, its called football in real countries.) with a passion. Not because I dislike the sport itself, just everything around it. Like how most of the players are dramaqueens. How their fans seem to be retarded in general as they scream advice at some of the best athletes in the world. The hooligans we can all agree have nothing to do with the sport itself as they're just vandalist ragemonkeys who're just using it as a reason to fight.

But my dislike of it, is very unpopular as appearantly everyone is supposed to like it for some reason unknown to me.

The problem with Brutal Legend was not that it was badly designed, or that it had random mechanics and genres thrown in without any consideration as to how they'd fit together. On the contrary, its mechanics are very well designed, and a lot of time and thought has been put into making the gameplay of the stage battles fluid and fun, and that is an undisputable fact.

No, the issue is that people didn't realize the semi-RTS aspects would be there due to EA refusing to talk about them in the marketing, in favour of making a huge deal about how Jack Black was involved; and the fact that Double Fine seemingly underestimated how difficult it would be for players to adapt to a new style of gameplay that they'd probably never seen before. However, once you get your head around how these battles work, and get over the initial spike on the difficulty curve, these battles are extremely enjoyable - that's how I found it, anyway.

How do I react to people with an opposing opinion? Generally by asking them how they played the stage battles in question. Because the game doesn't do a particularly good job of explaining how to play them successfully - I know this first hand because I sucked at them at first too.

If, like I did at first, they played them like a traditional RTS, flying in the air constantly and ordering troops around, but doing nothing else - ignoring the massive axe in their hand, the solos they'd collected, and the team-up attacks the game had spent so long hammering into them - I tell them that I was in the same situation, explain why they kept losing, and urge them to give the game another shot. Which always seems to elicit the response "well you've got your opinion and I've got mine" but whatever.

If, on the other hand, they were fully aware of these elements but still didn't enjoy the game, fair play to them. I'll agree to disagree.
You, good sir, put into words my feelings about Brutal Legend. If only you had gotten to Hellfirecomms before their playthrough of it. Except without the going into very precise detail just how much EA cocked Brutal Legend's advertising and such skyward into the the sun forged from Ormagoden's firey, death-filled, explosion. The Drowning Doom is still really annoying, though.

But here's another thing I think about Brutal Legend that most would stare at me weirdly for. If Brutal Legend completely ditched the RTS elements and was just a quirky metal-themed God of War, like Yahtzee would have preferred, it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good. There would have been no tangible weight to the actual war for humanity and Metal. The war would have been cutscene-exclusive or consist of Eddie Riggs killing everything on his own. The former would feel like a wasted opportunity. The latter would go against Eddie's character and the whole idea of waging a war to liberate humanity from a kinkier Tim Curry. No war is won by one man, and Brutal Legend embraces that.

The RTS elements are what made Brutal Legend rise above just being another "One-Man Army" game with the cutscenes making it look like a real war. When you fight a Stage Battle or go online, it plays like something that's be called "The Battle of Bladehenge" in a history textbook. Back-and-forthing for fan-booths, splitting your squads for strategic insertion, melting emo kids' faces off with a guitar solo, and the sense of victory in making that final push to tear that shitty Industrial-Metal concert down to the tune of "Leather Rebel". It gets the adrenaline pumping like an action game, but still has you channel some of that adrenaline to your brain like an RTS would.

I could keep gushing, but I probably made peoples' heads explode just from telling them that Brutal Legend being more like God of War would have been bad for it.
