Episodes on games by Gust are always brilliant. I believe this was the one that had a bit of age rating controversy. Funny stuff.

Is it safe to say that the soundtracks have been getting worse since Atelier Iris? Maybe the older stuff's just nostalgic.

Oh my, that was hilarious. I was thinking about just how off-key all of the instruments were before it was mentioned, and Paul's "Wait, is she talking to us?" made me give out a hearty laugh.

It doesn't help that the voice director picked bottom feeders or picked good actors and ruined their performances. Seriously, JYB was decent in Rorona, but his character in this game was on helium, dope, and puberty medication. As I was playing this, I starting wonder how the hell I managed through all of Mana Khemia, part of 2, Rorona, and part of this.

Low budget graphics (a staple for any RPG not made by Square Enix is to lag 1-2 generations behind schedule)
Visual novel presentation
Terrible cheery ass music
God awful dub (I defend dubs to death, but can't excuse this)

I often wonder how this genre still manages to be my favorite when games like this show up. On the plus side, this is the genre best suited as a foil for Unskippable. It's never failed.

TOO HARDCORE TO SHOW ON UNSKIPPABLE!

...But what did you expect when you've got a main character whose sister's name is "Sex-Cilia?"

But seriously, Paul, don't you know anything? The more revealing the clothing, the higher the armour rating.

This, of course, only goes for girls. If a guy tries ti fight in a thong and two band-aids, he will be killed (Unless the deal is satire, though if it is, he'll probably die anyway).

That voice acting was quite bad, even by most JRPG voice acting standards.

This game sounds like a really bad terrorist sitcom or something.

Actually, that sounds like a step up from the actual game.

"That voice acting was quite bad, even by most JRPG voice acting standards."

Lots of voice acting for JRPGs (these days) tends to be done by well-qualified people. SMT games tend to use LA based people who have lots of experience in anime. What I don't get is if Rorona used all the good quality ones (Liam O'Brien, Michelle Ruff, Julie Ann Taylor to name a few), what went so wrong this go round? What bothers me is there are enough voice actors more qualified that don't get work in games. There's a whole hell of a lot over at Funimation that could mop the floor with Totori's dub cast. Carrie Savage, Travis Willingham, and Laura Bailey work both Funimation and videogame dubs. I find it strange others don't.

I kinda wanna play one of these Atelier games one day if only because of the un-fitting music they put in at every turn.
Like that guy with the theme music. There were literally NO other people around and suddenly that comes on out of nowhere.

Also, i kinda wanna see another Atelier game done only because they make for hilarious Unskippables :D

Eventually she got the idea to mail her exploding potions to people, and thus, the legend of the Unibomber lived on.

Oh wow Gino's theme song was terrible. Sounded like a cheesy 80's pop song - the elevator version.

Making greandes sounds overly violent for somebody who lives in a peacful fishing village...then again, she has to have back up and fight monsters to pick flowers in the forest, so who are we to judge.

If its anything like the earlier games in the series, she really will be making a boatload of grenades. The basic bomb recipe is one of the first you learn, and you upgrade it regularly all game.

And more goofy JRPG episodes please, even if they don't have proper cutscene openings. That was hilarious.

My girlfriend bought this game because it looked cute. After about an hour she had enough and doesn't want to play it anymore lol.

The music! The voice acting! The completely nonsensical plot! Shortening a 4-syllable name to a 3-syllable nickname! The music, again! TRUMPETS! Panning slowly upward! The glitched boob-jiggle-animation (1:38)! The completely unnecessary ass-shot (4:55)!

IT ALL HURTS.

4:35: "Oh, adventurers are people who..." [long pause] take arrows to knees? Wait.

THAT HURTS TOO.

Oh tiny submissive girls and boys in stupid outfits.

Er, I mean, oh anime games.

I'm sure it's cultural prejudice but 'that guy kidnapped my girlfriend, I'ma go kick his ass and the ass of anyone else who stands in my way!' still makes infinitely more sense to me than 'I'm the worst alchemist (chemist?) in the world and I probably just died of smoke inhalation but magically didn't. Let's go kill monsters, mandatory dude in town who thinks killing monsters is the best!'

I don't understand why the character would be fuzzed out and then replaced with a paper cut out. Is it a style thing? A holdover from the early days of polygonal graphics? Honestly the 3D bits look better and seem to have more animation, which makes replacing them with the paper bits very odd.
