Still got Vanquish on the brain, huh? Frickin' space Russians!

And that bit about Missile Command was great. That game's probably more fun than Back Side Front Mission Evolved, too.

Wait...So you're telling em Armour-plated Moby Dick is in league (no pun intended) with the Space Russians and the enemies from Missile Command?

Japan would REALLY be screwed then!
When i heard that i immediately thought of Wales, and how screwed the rest of the UK would be...
Isn't Wales supposed to be <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/critical-miss/8513-Critical-Miss-Y-Ddraig-Cach>your Canada. Now if it was Scotland, y'all would be screwed.
Yeah but its slightly more xenophobic (somehow) than scotland and also slightly less technologically retarded. Give the scottish mechs and they'll try and have be too busy trying to fight them to figure out how to work them.
Edit: that strip also has to be one of my favourite ones of all time too

If I may point out, the skating mecha bit is a hold over from when the series was a tactical RPG. It was basically tank treads in the feet that allowed farther movement in a straight line, sadly however Square Enix decided to bend over this series in a similar fashion to Final Fantasy.

"Yea. Front Mission EVOLVED. To think that mechs had an intelligent designer!"

That has certainly more than 1 level of sarcasm and possible insult to it...

EDIT: I'd pronounce "N.S.A.L" as "nasal".

Roller-skating Mechs being the most improbable?

pfft obviously you haven't heard of IGPX Grand Pri which was an anime about Roller Derby but with mechs.
And then Code Geass had it, but less than halfway through they decided, "**** it we're putting wings on these things."

And the strategic value of shooting civilian vehicles is?

I mean I'm not a military strategist, but I'd save ammo for enemy soldiers.

Maybe for the terror and moral effect?

The designers had to make sure everyone knew that they were bad guys.
(A Grey is more complicated then a black &white story).

Shit, now I feel like watching an LP of this game just to find out whodun'it? IS it the Space Russians?

Also, I GET when American game companies make games like Homefront or Modern Warfare 2 which stroke the nationalist "Protect your great American homeland form Eeeviill Commies" Boner.

.....but why do Japanese games do it? Are they just trying to band wagon? Or are they trying to blend in with MW2? Hope no one will notice the difference? Because if that's the case.....dude....roller skating Mechs? Really? :/

Video game cities always evacuate so quickly, and without any looting. It's almost like the devs don't want to render giant crowds of people...

You know what's another thing I don't get about the whole giant mech thing, what's the point of giving the giant mechs giant versions of ordinary firearms? You know like hand guns and shit? Wouldn't it make more sense to have their armaments built in to the chassis?
It's a good thing in terms of versatility, different load outs and such
If you say so, it just seems like an unnecessarily roundabout way of doing things is all.

I like how the long-range anti-mech missiles just sit there, pointed at the invading mecha, not firing, in range of the invaders' weapons. Hollywood Tactics strike again!

They probably hit the staging area and those vehicles are not occupied. I just assumed that this was a sneak attack and, not being at an alert status, the anti-mech tanks and defending mechs weren't warmed up or occupied.

Someone said that the skating is from an earlier game in this setting that gave them tank treads, but I really think that they're a holdover from lazy artists making their mechs skate so they don't have to animate running.
