Ehhh, that episode felt pretty uninspired. Please don't do pure action cutscenes again; they just don't give you anything with which to work. There wasn't any goofy dialogue or silly plot twists, just mechs shooting stuff. Part 1 was alright but I didn't even get a chuckle out of this one. Next week I hope to see an episode with some dialogue.

Also, why didn't you guys comment on how the big ray gun that took a minute to charge up and fire barely did anything. It barely scratched the paint job of that big suspender ring, what a waste of funds.

The only way I could tell the good mechs from the bad mechs was that the good mechs were getting demolished. Art direction failr.
I partly had problems telling that there were 2 different mechs, for the main part it looks just like random distruction.

Most explosions in an Unskippable ever!

Actually, considering the franchises' track record with Russians I wouldn't put it past them. Except they're called 'Zaftrans' now and are usually evil.

It felt like the attack scene was blown way out of proportion. The idea is to show the enemy mechs blowing some stuff up before you come to save the day, they could have shown that in like 2 minutes tops. There had to be at least 30 enemy Wanzers there. Programmer Guy is screwed.

You know what's another thing I don't get about the whole giant mech thing, what's the point of giving the giant mechs giant versions of ordinary firearms? You know like hand guns and shit? Wouldn't it make more sense to have their armaments built in to the chassis?
If you wanted something that would take a hell of a lot longer to change out in terms of capability. Plus the additional training, maintenance, and whatnot just makes it actually seem easier to design giant weapons to be used in the manner they are used in.

What's easier, get a mech to open a hand and grab something new, or perform an operational check, download the weapon(remove ammo), detach the weapon, upload the weapon(add ammo), then perform another operational check. Plus, it's easier to steal the enemies weapons when you run out of ammo.

Shit, now I feel like watching an LP of this game just to find out whodun'it? IS it the Space Russians?

Also, I GET when American game companies make games like Homefront or Modern Warfare 2 which stroke the nationalist "Protect your great American homeland form Eeeviill Commies" Boner.

.....but why do Japanese games do it? Are they just trying to band wagon? Or are they trying to blend in with MW2? Hope no one will notice the difference? Because if that's the case.....dude....roller skating Mechs? Really? :/
lol maybe it's just the go-to blueprint for games these days

it's not even so much stroking national pride anymore, just as having the Russians as the bad guys all that insulting to them either (I feel like both countries' gamers now just shrug/roll their eyes and check in long enough to see if they like the gameplay as opposed to the story)

altho it'd be interesting to play as the Canadians...or something. Maple-syrup powered mechs! :p

Actually, the "skating" is really more specific to Votoms than being an anime thing in general. FME is just joining Code Geass on the list of things that ripped Votoms off extremely poorly. In Votoms it basically just let the robots move like tanks sometimes to cover ground faster and use less energy than if they were walking. It's significantly less ridiculous than having bipedal mechs at all because it was pretty much just how real military vehicles move. It doesn't work out that way in FME because it was made by a team of deranged howler monkeys plus the guy behind FF XIII, who has all the talent for scripting plot and characters of a medium-sized rock.

"It would be briefly awesome."

Japan would REALLY be screwed then!
When i heard that i immediately thought of Wales, and how screwed the rest of the UK would be...
Isn't Wales supposed to be <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/comics/critical-miss/8513-Critical-Miss-Y-Ddraig-Cach>your Canada. Now if it was Scotland, y'all would be screwed.
Yeah but its slightly more xenophobic (somehow) than scotland and also slightly less technologically retarded. Give the scottish mechs and they'll try and have be too busy trying to fight them to figure out how to work them.
Edit: that strip also has to be one of my favourite ones of all time too
I want a scottish Mech armed with Either a claymore, or with a targe.
Demomech?

Just joined to share this. I recently discovered Unskippable and was inspired to make these by their 100th episode cutscene guide. Play with your friends!

Here's what I can take away from this video:

1. Mechs are bound by absolutely no consistent rules and mech anime is targeted specifically at people too stone to question this, no matter how "real" the premise is in the first place.

2. Behind every Mech anime is a Japanese Michael Bay.

You know what would have been a good opening sequence to watch today? Pers-

(get beaten down from behind and is shoved into a van. The side of the van reads "Free Candy")

Not having signed a peace treaty, Japan and Russia are still, formally, at war. They also have some territory disagreements, with Japan claiming several islands Russia took over during the war to be "illegally occupied". (facepalm)

Really? They've been at War since WW2? Wtf? I didn't know that. Seems like somthing they should get around to resolving......when Japan has time off from not being beaten to death by mother nature that is.

Then again, that explains HALF of my question. Okay, so they have reason to Hate the Russians. But why is ALWAYS an invasion of New York? Why can't the games ever be about those border disputes you mentioned? Like a over-exaggerated border conflict......with Mechs and Nukes and such?

See, now I have to question the advantage of using a large assault rifle as a held weapon. They're mechs! You can strap canons onto their backs and have like ten of them fire at once!!! Why use hand held assault rifles??? Hell. Just strap them to the shoulders!

Realism? In a game like THIS? Were talking about thousands of tons of metal Roller Skating across cities and using Giant SMG's instead of arm chain guns. Realism, in this video game? Bout as much realism as a Transformers movie.
