"They are all laughing at you behind your back... burn them all!"

...did Graham just turn into John Kramer there?

I was ready to be embarrassed to hell and back for this game while watching this, but you guys did a good job at making it funny. I used to like this game, but after not playing it for more than half a year, I can see why it got such horrible reviews. The original game was amazing, though.

I admit, I really love Tales of Symphonia, both the original and this one, but this was hilarious! =D

Actually this opening scene isn't too bad, especially not compared to some om the other really campy cutscenes in the first two hours of the game. The main character constantly keeps having flashbacks to three silly lines of dialogue all the time.

But, just like with the original, when progressing a little further I ended up really liking this game (and the characters, including the whiny protagonist). It might not be on par with its fantastic predecessor, but certainly worth playing.

Several times throughout the episode you made me spit cereal out of my mouth because I couldn't hold in the laughter. I had a mouth full of coffee when you made the door-creaking joke, and I lost it there too. Thanks a lot, Unskippable! >_>

Laughed a lot at the door creaking joke, and the mattel one. And the magic 8 ball one.
Though not in that order, unsuprisingly.
Yeah, good stuff, the the creaking one almost made me spit my coke. I should know better than to watch these with a mouthful of anything.
Funny, I was drinking tea and almost spat it all over my laptop :D

Lloyd is the name they went with? Lord Sauron, Anton Chigurh, Lloyd Irving.

I mean in the name of... Lloyd.
In FF10, I felt that way about Seymour. That is just not the name you use to set someone up as an antagonist early in a game. That name makes people laugh. I haven't played, but lets say that Lloyd doesn't stay an antagonist. He pulls a Magus ala Chrono Trigger (even the reference is to cool for this games cinematic); then the writer needs an ambiguous name. One that could go either way.

Names are hard. But Lloyd isn't even trying. Like Seymour.
I dunno. Seymour (Skinner) is kind of fitting with the slightly camp theme of Final Fantasy. Lloyd is... as you say, not even trying. Like having your villain called Jim or Steve or Barry.

I finally got a BINGO for this Game Intro! The winning squares were;

City or Building destroyed, Subtitles in same language as dialogue, Decades of history compressed into tedious voiceover recap, Inclement weather, and Hero/Heroine using move that never appears in actual game.

That blonde kid was scarier than the villian.

Same thing happens to me and the coffee is sprayed all over my computer so I don't drink or eat while I watch Escapist videos.

This is why i don't play JRPGs. confusing story lines that bear no reference to reality

The game's story kind of makes you bash your head into a table.. alot until almost the very end where a few 'big reveals' explain everything that didn't make any sense or was blatantly wrong only appeared that way due to the lack of certain information. I hated the game about 80% of the way through because of those perceived mistakes, but having had to deal with them so long, the reveal only made me move up to being ok with it.

It also heavily assumes you already played the previous game, and kind of fawns over the characters and accomplishments of the previous game like it was made by fanboys of the first game.

Fuck you Brian Beacock! You can't make magic like Scott Menville! Lousy piece of crap Wii limitations and typical lack of motivation come together once again to remind me how mediocre this game was. If it didn't have the Tales of brand on it, it would have had lower expectations that could have made it bearable, but instead, it was a sequel/spinoff of one of the best JRPGs ever!... I'm sad now.

BTW, believe it or not, both sides of Emil Castagnier's personality are voiced by Johnny Yong Bosch, the guy who voices any anime action guy ever. Surprising to hear him as that much of a whiny *****.

Ah Tales of Symphonia. I don't really care much for JRPGS but I enjoyed the original a lot despite not beating it. I think I could care less about this one however.

Is there really anyone who could take the name "Ginnungagap" seriously?
And also... MARTA LEFT THE PARTY...again...
