Unused TMNT Reboot Designs Reveal Classic Shredder - Update

Concept art reveals TMNT reboot could've included classic cartoon characters

Update: The Aaron Sims company, for which the TMNT concept art was originally created, has requested that images of Krang, Bebop & Rocksteady be removed, as the studio has not approved their publication. The images have also been removed from the Facebook of the artist who originally posted them, replaced by an explanation [https://www.facebook.com/ceco.georgiev/posts/10201943902319137] that they are "For next TMNT movie that is not released yet."

Original Story: Lost in the shuffle over the Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/escape-to-the-movies/9634-Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Kids-Deserved-Better-Than-This] reboot this past summer was the memory that the film was almost something very different. As originally planned, the reboot would've created an entirely new mythos for the franchise, including the Turtles themselves being aliens.

That version of the film didn't end up getting made, delaying the project. But leaked versions of the script appeared online later, revealing that it would've featured the live-action debut of three characters from the 1980s TMNT animated series: Interdimensional supervillain Krang and mutant henchmen Bebop & Rocksteady. Now, designer Tsvetomir Georgiev has posted concept art of the characters to Facebook.

Along with the more-realistic rhinoceros and warthog mutants and the brawnier than normal Krang; the images also include a classic version of The Shredder and an alternate variation with army-style armor. That version may have been related to Shredder's new origin (in the "alien" script) as a military commander named Colonel Schrader.

More of Georgiev's work (some NSFW) can be found here. [https://www.facebook.com/ceco.georgiev/photos]

Seeing how the actual movie came out.... I wouldn't have minded the Turtles being aliens if we had gotten these designs, as well as an inter-dimensional shennanigans story to go with it.

The first 6 designs look beautiful. I'm not sure on the looks of the turtles, but those six are simple and stays true to the roots of each character. No unnecessary BS or over-stylized concepts.

Too bad the movie ended up in the hands of a pack of retards who were in it just for the pussy, money, and blow. How else do you explain the piss-poor quality of the finished product?

The design of those turtles still looks bad, but it's not as much of a visual abortion as what was released since they didn't stick little nick knacks everywhere on their persons.

Well, Krang would have looked incredibly retarded as a realistic fat/bald guy with a brain in his stomach. The armored Shredder here looks very russian with the coat and helmet design.

Overall its kind of easy to make these look good in stills with all the right lighting and visual effects, in motion with actual live action costumes its a lot harder.

Lose the nostrils on the Turtles and I think all of those designs would have been perfect. But no. Characters need to have an insane amount of stuff on them now, to the point where it would be impossible for a normal person to move. Yes, I'm still miffed about that stupid backpack Donatello was wearing.

While the Turtles themselves are only marginally better, the classic Shredder looks really good here.

So they came up with a freaking perfect shredder design, a cool krang design, some slightly nicer turtle designs and some amazing rocksteady/bebop designs and DIDN'T use them? Well done people who made this movie, well fucking done you god damn idiots.

the lips though...I do not see why they need lips, they don't need to look "realistic"

we all know the film was pile of skunk ass and i'm not sure the cool designs of the classic Shredder along with Bebop and Rocksteady would have helped much..

I would have watched it, despite the turtles still looking kinda bad, if I could see Krang, Shredder, Rocksteady and Bebop.

They look so good.

Well... Krang looks less retarded than he used to... almost good though.

*Looks at Beebop and Rocksteady, weeps for what may have been*

I'm just going to assume that they won't even make it into the sequel because I'm a massive pessimist.

Huh. Out of all the designs, they managed to do justice to the ones they didn't actually use.

Beebop and Rocksteady look cool, Krang looks like Optimus Primal from Beast Machines.

I'd rather have these designs (and, of course, adding Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang), though the turtle designs are still kind of ugly.

Those are actually pretty good. Classic Shredder, classic. I actually like this Krang better than any other version I have seen.
