Alice in Wonderland is actually just about mathematics. Lewis Carrol was straight edge.
I can't tell if I want to side track this thread or if I want you to PM it to me, but I'd love to hear this explained

Bah I was expecting genuine reasons why it could be racist, not this crap. Applying the same logic you could make anything racist.

Did you see that South Park episode where the boys wrote a really offensive book just for the hell of it and everyone took it to have all this deep meaning? As usual, South Park exaggerates a little here but it still makes a good point. It's something that always bothered me about studying English at school, how you can pretty much take any meaning you want out of anything. Maybe the writers are subconciously racist, maybe it's just a damn movie.

That's always an issue I've had in class. It makes me wonder, since most of the authors (if not all we study for symbolism) are dead, if we could ask them if they intended things this way, or they chose to just write a good novel.

And yes I did, I really enjoyed it.

being born white makes you racist, get with the times
Being born makes you racist.

What i "love" is that us white people can get pegged for racism easily, but when we have racist actions tossed against us (as far as i'm aware), we have to put up with it.

So you can have your "Black TV network", but if you get that, i want my "White Entertainment Channel", just to be fair damnit

Forgive me if i'm lacking enough knowledge to make this an educated statement, i'ts 4:30 am, i'm kinda tipsy, and i noticed racism. So i'm tossing in my two cents

Im going to post one of the chain emails doing the rounds at the moment. You know the kind, the ones with some motivating message with a pretty good point behind it. I will post a copy of it I got here.

"Michael Richards makes his point...

Michael Richards better known as Kramer from TVs Seinfeld does make a good point. This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act. He makes some very interesting points... Someone finally said it.

How many are actually paying attention to this? There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc. And then there are just Americans. You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction. You call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman'... And that's OK... But when I call you, ******, Kike, Towel head, Sand-******, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or ***** .. You call me a racist. You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you... So why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You have the United Negro College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day. You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day. You have Yom Hashoah. You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi. You have the NAACP. You have BET... If we had WET (White Entertainment Television), we'd be racists. If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists. If we had White History Month, we'd be racists. If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives, we'd be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce. Wonder who pays for that? A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color can be in the Miss America pageant. If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships... You know we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US .. Yet if there were 'White colleges', that would be a racist college. In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists. You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You rob us, car jack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I am proud... But you call me a racist. Why is it that only whites can be racists?? There is nothing improper about this e-mail.. Let's see which of you are proud enough to send it on. I sadly don't think many will. That's why we have LOST most of OUR RIGHTS in this country. We won't stand up for ourselves! BE PROUD TO BE WHITE! It's not a crime YET... But getting very close!"

I had to apply the paragraphing as it comes as a wall of text.
But he makes a good point about the racism.

Reminds me of a court case a few years back where a british judge was quoted as having said:

"He can't be racist, hes Black,"

Awesome world we live in right?
And the most hilarious part of this is, it isnt even the non whites who pose the biggest threat to the caucasion freedoms and human rights, its other whites.

Stupidity is rife it would seem.

Was this supposed to be ironic? The "troll" people are referring to are the ones the OP has put in quotation boxes, not the OP him/herself.

Though I'm sure to hell that this fellow was either trolling or a real idiot... You can make racism out of anything. Hell just pick a random film off your shelf and I bet if you thought about it hard enough with that kind of mindset then you'll see "racist symbolism" everywhere.

Ah, my favorite topic to pour out my uninteresting opinions, so here goes:

This is by far the most impressive analysis of a movie that, if not looked at closely enough, seems harmless, even adoring and full of positive values to learn. Being able to read so many negative images into it is a feat that would make any psychiatrist of name turn in their grave (or wingchair, if they're still alive) in agony.

Yet, I have to give kudos to the good man, this was the absurdly negative attitude I needed to show me that my life is blissfully unaware of such racist plots against seemingly every foreign nationality or policy.

Oh, and I'm white, and I have blue eyes. Brown hair tho =/

This is often a thought I have had actually. Especially the "American" part. I have made it a fine point to tell anyone either they get over I leave out where their ancestors came from and I just call them American, or I expect the same respect you expect me to give. You're not African-American unless your either from Africa and became a US citizen or I get to be refereed to as European-American

Edit: Also I love you Lord Honk

"Eye see what mind whats it to see"
If I want to find racist remarks from a movie, I will find them even they wouldn't really exist.

"He can't be racist, hes black."
So if black man or woman discriminates me for being white. That is not racism?
What if:
So if white man or woman discriminates me for being black. That is racism?

That dude who's said those quotes, clearly wants to start a fight, he wants to troll.
HE chooses to remain ignorant about basic ideas that run this world, he did not need to go to see that movie, I did not need to go and see that movie, I did not go and see that movie. He did not need to inspect the movie like that, he did not need to start a fight on youtube, just the truth that he started to whine on the forums takes some of hes credibility away, he might be chinese or slavia for all I know.

I think this falls in to the category of "There's always the one!"
If he got such a issue with Disney, go get a job there, or better make your own company and do movie with only black people who dscriminate whites, I don't care.

Confirmation Bias [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confirmation_bias]

If you expect racism and look for racism, you can find racist messages in white noise. It's funny - many odious beliefs are held alive in great part by the people, that claim to be victims of them.
