Alice in Wonderland is actually just about mathematics. Lewis Carrol was straight edge.
I can't tell if I want to side track this thread or if I want you to PM it to me, but I'd love to hear this explained
The Alice in Wonderland from the movies is a bastardisation of the books Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking glass. One of them is about chess. Not sure which one it was.. Hmm.. I really should read those books one day... After I finish the brothers Karamasov that is.

Anyway, there is a lot of info about this on Wikipedia, and other places. so as always, google is your friend.

Finding any reason to call white people racist is racist in itself.
It's prejudice.
Thinking that white people are racist by nature and therefore assuming anything they say, especially regarding to other races, is racist.

I actually feel rather offended, a lot of times, when I'm accused of racism. If anything, I am NOT a racist.

If I want to find racist remarks from a movie, I will find them even they wouldn't really exist.

"He can't be racist, hes black."
So if black man or woman discriminates me for being white. That is not racism?
What if:
So if white man or woman discriminates me for being black. That is racism?

That dude who's said those quotes, clearly wants to start a fight, he wants to troll.
HE chooses to remain ignorant about basic ideas that run this world, he did not need to go to see that movie, I did not need to go and see that movie, I did not go and see that movie. He did not need to inspect the movie like that, he did not need to start a fight on youtube, just the truth that he started to whine on the forums takes some of hes credibility away, he might be chinese or slavia for all I know.

I think this falls in to the category of "There's always the one!"
If he got such a issue with Disney, go get a job there, or better make your own company and do movie with only black people who dscriminate whites, I don't care.
There is a historic grain of truth in what he says though, even if it's only historical and as such, no longer valid.

Walt Disney himself was actually a racist to heart, and so was Disney under his leadership. then again, Walts been dead for about half a century or so...

Well, if you look really really hard, you can find anything to be racist. That's just absolutely ridiculous.

OT: There is no fucking symbolism, but long live the political correctness gone mad.

And most of all, YouTube comments are cancer, if 90% of it shit, it doesn't mean you have to take the 10% seriously.

Gonna agree with the masses, this is the youtube comments section, where a video clip of a kitten playing with a ball of wool descends into a flamewar after about 3 'aw' comments.

'You only like this cos that kitten is white!'

'It's more entertaining than the Wayan brother's entire career!'

etc,etc...

For the record I am a racist, I like the 100m, but I think the 110m hurdles is a waste of time and should be banned.

(Cue comments about black athletes, if I was on the youtube comments section :D )

You really think the subtext goes that deep. There's no racism behind that movie. People look at things and make up their own racism. I find it horrible that some people will take a beautiful movie and turn it into a movie about racism.

thats the reason why i ignore people nowadays after they used the phrase "i feel offended" the first time -just *Zap* they are gone forever, invisible and unheard.
The funniest thing with that hideous phrase is that actually they feel like it might offend other people, it rarely has anything to do with themselves at all.

the whole idea of racism rely s on prejudice, the idea that i am judging someone with no prior knowledge of them or their past, based solely on their outward appearance. the problem with that is that the whole idea assumes that everyone everywhere is able to rationalize social issues on an individual by individual basis, which is of course bat-shit retarded.

The way that the human brain develops literally dictates a constant unavoidable rate of prejudice. when i see a dog i know that it barks, when i see a cat i know it meows. We learn simple lessons like these as we grow, and as we grow our neural pathways develop to reflect that, thereby streamlining and advancing our perception of the world around us. The act of profiling and streamlining social interactions is a part of what we are, attempting to deny it is simply naive.
Someone's up on his Piaget :)

Generalizations are how we keep the world from being terrifying and confusing every damned day. I need to know that this chair-shaped object will behave like the other chairs I've met. I need to know this ceiling will stay elevated like others. Moderation, not elimination, is the key.

I don't care about racism anymore.

I don't support or condone it in any way, but it's hard to say anything without some jerk calling you racist in some form.

So i block it out, just as i do with starving kids in africa.
How ever much i help them, they'll still ask for more.

Being born makes you racist.

What i "love" is that us white people can get pegged for racism easily, but when we have racist actions tossed against us (as far as i'm aware), we have to put up with it.

So you can have your "Black TV network", but if you get that, i want my "White Entertainment Channel", just to be fair damnit

Forgive me if i'm lacking enough knowledge to make this an educated statement, i'ts 4:30 am, i'm kinda tipsy, and i noticed racism. So i'm tossing in my two cents
Well truthfully BET sounds better than WET.
And OT: that guy's a troll, one who went entirely too overbord.

Tried to censor it the best I could, sorry if I missed parts.

I'm not one to be a big fan of symbolism. It's not that I don't like it and I do believe that somethings were ment to have them, but unless it's my job I like to take things like a good movie at face value and unless a symbol pops out at me I don't really look for it.

But I have seen this movie a few times...I saw hints of developmental change (an obvious one), the progression to better ones self (obviousish?), and resistance to change (very obvious)....but racism? It never really popped into my head.

What are your thoughts?

Just to add a bit more depth to this thread, what symbolism do you see in disney/pixar films you feel others might not see or agree with?
That isn't symbolism, that's trolling. And what else is there on youtube?
I've once had an intelligent conversation on Youtube. It was...odd.
Then I woke up...

Trolololololololololololo...

But seriously, fuck him. It's one of the most heartwarming films I've seen in a while.

Wall-E still wins, though.
