You play a game, finish it, then want your money back because you didn't like it. Congrats on being part of the reason why retail outlets no longer do refunds or exchanges on games & movies!
So if you bought a pie, and the pie was terrible, you wouldn't expect your money back?
Not if you ate the entire pie.

COUGH. COUGH.

Yeah, I got King Arthur back when my comp couldn't run it.

On another note, $80 sounds like an insane amount. Not sure what the current conversion rate here is, but a new game here is usually £40, then often reduced to £30 by the company selling it.
Well, I you'd have to pay $100+ here in Aus. I'm not sure where the OP is from, and thus if he has the same problem, but here in Aus, its not the exchange rate that is our problem, just that we're not seen as a viable market for games, and thus our games are obnoxiously priced.

I actually didn't mind DNF, its not actually as bad as most people make out. I find it ironic that a number of people stated that they wanted a return to the old days of FPS, yet when DNF came out, they complained about a lack of innovation. You cannot say 'make the same game you made 14 years ago' and 'invent new stuff'. You can do one, or the other, or a mix of both.

I am surprised that people are so surprised you can get refunds on STEAM. I thought this was general knowledge. . .

OT: Duke Nukem is a 90's game. We are now in the teens of 2000. Gaming has changed, and Duke Nukem hasn't. That's why scrubs think the game is bad.
Duke Nukem hasn`t changed? Oh yeah, thats right, if someone hit you in duke 3d, you also had to hide like a pussy for 10 secs behind a wall, before you could blow someone up again. Also, in Duke 3d, you could only have 2 weapons equipped, and it was also extremly linear, also it had tons of driving sections that sucked. Oh wait...

Anyways, congrats OP, didnt know that was possible. Also god im glad i didnt buy that piece of shit.

Pfft, I would. A terrible product is a terrible product.

I don't understand anything that was said here
I mean it's not so hard to get money back from Steam.

But, if a person ate the entire pie, that person must have enjoyed it, at some level. At least, that is the very easy argument for the baker to make. It also helps matters that this argument is nearly impossible for the person demanding the refund to counter.

80$ is 40£. At least the last time I checked 1£ is around 2$.
New games in Sweden go for 600SEK, which is like.. 65£ or something. I'm pretty tired, so my math might be way off.

In a lot of endurance sports, "DNF" is short for "did not finish." Which I just noticed, and I think is funny, so there.

So you'd expect money back for the empty pie plate that you hand in after you buy and eat the thing and then decide you don't like it after all? I doubt many stores would refund you for that.

Steam it seems gives refunds for things like "I am unable to use this entertainment product" but not for things like "I played this game through and didn't like it."

You played the game through. You're paying to play the game through. You got what you paid for. You did not pay for the sense of satisfaction at the end, entertainment products do not carry that guarantee.

This is why you look at reviews and such before you buy entertainment products. Because that's being a smart consumer.

Most of the reviews on DNF say its humor falls flat, and it has awkward design choices. Many people who are fine with that bought it and enjoyed it. You bought it, and did not enjoy it, probably for those reasons. 'It didn't fit my taste' isn't a valid reason.

If you buy a pie, and say 'Oh I was hoping this was a shephard's pie' and they go 'but the sign says cherry pie' it's not refundable, you got what you paid for.

Personally I'm going to use this to buy Portal2, which I should have done a long, long time ago.
A wise move. Duke was a time capsule of the Nineties, and it's problem is that we've advanced from them. It's about time we got a new king to hail.
As a man myself, I think it would be nicer to worship a woman rather than another man.
:) So can we have an empress instead?

I wanted DNF because I was sick of the modern shooters coming out 5 times a month and when I got one of those shooters with duke thrown in I was rather disappointed and I think that's why most others are, some parts felt like a Duke Nukem game but only a small amount. have developers forgotten how to make old school games?

No offense, but not if Square and Ubisoft, at the same time no less, have their mits on it. They're no Ion Storm, sure, but I wouldn't trust those two companies to make a good Deus Ex game. Period.

I'm buying my Balls of Steel version once I get my bills paid next week.

The most I got from Steam with a completely not working Oblivion was "Not really our problem," who are the people I need to be getting in contact with for these refunds?
