The link to the story is above, here is the jist of it.

At 11:23 a.m. Saturday,
A man walked into a convenience store to buy a cup of coffee. At the end of the transaction, the man pulled out a gun and robbed the store. He was very apologetic about it,
"I really am sorry to have to do this, but I've got kids." He stole $300 and left the store.
I was wondering what's your reaction to this story.

Check out the video in the link before you decide what you think.

It's a pity that people are pushed to do things like this...Still, he broke the law and needs to suffer the consequences. I feel sad for his family though.

Has kids to feed, has gun, robs store instead of selling gun. Logical disconnect much?

Considering the amount of money you can make from robbing others using a gun...
Apparently, $300. And there's a good chance he'll go to jail. (>=70%, I'd say)
Meanwhile, that gun might bring him $500 or more if he sold it.

I think it's wrong because stealing is stealing. That being said, however, I'd be harsher on him as a member of the jury not because he stole the money, but because he didn't steal a bunch of food or drinks for his kids. Although money could be used to buy said food and drinks among other things that they might need like clothes.

My thing is this; if you're stealing something that you need (whether it's for yourself or family) I'd be more lenient versus someone stealing what they want (TV, game system, etc).

He did break the law but I don't know the full story of that guy, so I can't jump to conclusions. If he really was in need of that money to feed his children and he didn't take the money away from another family, then I can't really call him a robbing bastard. But like I said, I don't know all the background story.

HUnh... you know, its stories like that that give me hope for the world that my and the generation after me will be somewhat good.

So yeah, I dont know. Sucks for guy, but hey, at least no one was hurt, and he may get a lighter sentence for being a decent guy.
