I think that is one of the problems with the "megalution" system. It will just drive us away from using the new Pokemon in favor of our older favorites.

*sigh* it's a shame that they were unable to implement the cellphone thing in Gen 2. It would have made that generation absolutely perfect. And just to rub it in you face I am lucky enough to live near the events and if I had the time I could easily catch em' all through poke-transfer in W/W2

A quick update from Serebii... they've also identified the abilities of these mega forms, which are quite interesting indeed:
MegaBlaziken - Speed Boost
MegaLucario = Adaptability
MegaMawhile = Huge Power
MegaAbsol = Magic Bounce
MegaMewtwo = Insomnia
MegaAmpharos = Mold Breaker

MegaAmpharos also gets a slight upgrade with the addition of Dragon to its typing, and both Mawhile and MegaMawhile are now Steel/Fairy type.

Let me see if I understand this: you send this dude whatever, and you get whatever Pokemon you want, with every aspect of it customized?

Yeah kinda. The online version works something like this. You fill out the pokemon's info. What it is, what moves it knows, id numbers etc etc. If you're the kind of person who really cares about making things look Authentic then there's guides and stuff for what numbers to put where. Otherwise you can go nuts.

When you're done you click the submission button. There's a pokesav for all the Gens that use wireless, so 4 and up. There's a guide on the site that tells you how to rig your DNS settings to their channel. Then when all that's done you go to the GTS and boom free pokemon.

Some people (like me) use it to get shiny pokemon.Some people use it for breeding IVs (one of my friends got a ditto with 31s across the board). Some people make completely broken hacks to power their way through the battle tower or whatever cheating mess of an endgame there is.

This may come across as hypocritical coming from the guy that hosts The Escapist's resident Pokemon-themed game, but I'm always a little weary whenever a new batch of Pokemon are announced. The designs are getting repetitive and boring, sometimes incredibly idiotic (furniture Pokemon?!), they've already adapated the same animals several times, and all I can think of is "there goes 100 more reasons why we will never catch them all". Ken Sugimori can and will rotoscope the same cutesy rodents and threatening reptiles for the rest of his life, and people will buy them like it's novelty.

It's like Sugimori can't win.

His team is either criticized for trying to hard by basing Pokemon off of mythological creatures and more obscure types of animals, or he is criticized for basing Pokemon once again on basic animals.

I mean...what do you want from them?
They are damned either way so perhaps them just making whatever looks good works for them the best instead of appealing to one or the other spectrum of complaints.

I think he wants them to stop adding new ones.
