One trend I find quite disturbing is the growing right-wing mindset I'm seeing on The Escapist... especially in the younger posters.

Additionally: People who believe what they see/read daily on TV and online is an accurate representation of the world, especially when what they only ever seek out those things which support their skewed worldviews.
Probably because of this... but people doing this isn't anything new, really...

It does bother me that the young people of today don't really seem interested in finding out the truth, though... They're happy swallowing the corporate media's happy pills...

The "Welcome to the Internet" response when you point out someone is being a jerk/troll/ignorant f---/whatever.

Seriously? We have a new method to create limitless communities and you can't even step up and say when someone is being inappropriate? Just lazy and irresponsible in my opinion.

Those preschool backpack those middle schoolers wear.
Those are annoying.
I suppose it's to be ironic, but what's the point of irony if you can't carry all your schoolbooks? It makes little sense to me, as someone who prefers practicality over looks when it comes to backpacks.

Armchair activists, especially the really stupid ones who use legitimate issues as a justification for stanning.

Yes, heterosexual cisgendered internet user, you accusing people of being homophobic for not reading your slash fic, not shipping your ship or for not listening to Lady Gaga is exactly the same as being an LGBT rights activist and it definitely entitles to speak as if you are one! Fetishising homosexual sex is totally helping us achieve marriage equality, and the porn you write totally makes up for the fact that you've never attended a rally to advance LGBT rights in your life.

You mean the hypocritical "I hate <such-and-such right-wing group>, they're complete twats, so we should shoot them all"? Or just "I hate , it needs to get hurt"?

Because yeah, that's pretty annoying.

I find it both disturbing and ironic that people accept Fox news as fact then act confused when it turns out someone did a little research and found out they were wrong. This frustrates me as the one who does the research.

Making sex seem like it's the OMG BEST THING IN THE WORLD and that having it is the GREATEST accomplishment you can ever achieve in life and if you haven't had it then your life MUST be TERRIBLE, EMPTY and SHALLOW! Ugh...

For me, it is stuff like relief aid and public awareness. A country like Japan will get hit by an Earthquake and the whole world is instantly on track to sending resources to help rebuild. A country like Haiti is hit even worse, and it takes Canada shouting at people to get off their asses before any help comes.
I can't help but feel this is incorrect. Statistics speak louder than how the media portrays things.

People who drone on about big brother and how their rights are slipping away in the western world.

Sorry bro, the public transit authority in your area putting video cameras on the buses that belong to it is not a violation of your privacy. Neither is police controlled video cameras in public places.

In your home would be, in public is not. It doesn't matter how much you ***** and moan, your rights aren't being violated. Stop fighting progress and what is in the best interest of public safety.

People endorsing ideas which they don't fully understand. I've witnessed the following in the timespan of the last week:

- Religious alignment
- Political alignment (US party alignment)
- Moral/Ethical decisions
- Use of contradictory thought process, decision making, and use of doublethink.

This stuff really gets to me, and it is hurting my brain to recall it.

The worst bit I find about this whole trend is their total denial of any evidence to the contrary. No matter what is presented to them in a rational and reasonable way will almost immediately be countered with another opinion with little or no basis in reality.

OT: The mass-media representing climate change as only a "theory" and under some misguided obligation give equal airtime to climate change deniers as actual scientists. A fair and representative debate about climate change would actually be something along the lines of, "And now a debate between one skeptic and 3000 scientists."

They only donated $87 to Japan? What bastards!
xD that was my first thought, till I realised a couple of seconds later that it's just all measured in millions.

A trend that really bothers me is the current economic environment and the general decline of the United States.
