Ah.

Immature and deluded pessimism.

It makes me laugh.

You say that as if it's abnormal for a species to take that long to do it.

Tell me... abnormal compared to what?

We are, as far as we know, the most advanced species in existence. At the very least, we trample every other race on the planet in EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. Technologically, ethically, and by just being so damn smart.

So please, tell me another race that started out with pure equality. Or are you going by science fiction standards? Because if you are, you have to realize, our race is still in it's infancy. We've yet to achieve the greatest goal- interstellar travel.

Then again, based on reality, we are damn awesome because we've left everything we know in the dust.

Yeah, we fuck up. But so do a lot of individuals that end up being amazing people. Would you damn a former thief for the rest of his life even if he turned it all around and became a great person? Or would you take the good with the bad and realize that humanity, either on the individual level or group level, isn't perfect? Nothing is. Not perfect =/= bad.

I think we are the most amazing and the most useless species at the same time. So if you average that out, we actually end up being kind of so-so.
How are we useless? Or was that sarcasm?

No PROPER reason.

OT: Yes we fucking are, but I agree with the guy who said if we stop critizising ourselfs we won't improve as a species.

I say we've gotten pretty far, people should wait at least a couple more decades before they stop making judgements. If we can survive the giant wave of bullshit that will come with highly advanced robotics, genetic engineering and advanced AI we're worthy of this planet.

Although we should probably do something about that global warming thing before that gets to serious.

Look at the response to the first chap (or chapette) above, it's not like the rest of nature runs on the laws of Disney, loving and caring for one another and dancing in the flower gardens while the big bad humans just come along to fuck everything up and make cute little bunnies cry.

We aren't a corrupt species (there are corrupt people but that hardly accounts for all people), we don't destroy everything (look at how huge and popular various environmental and conservationalist programes have become) and I think you'll find that the only people who kill other humans for fun happen to be the twisted and demented psychopaths (who make up a minority), as a general rule, deaths at the hands of other humans have steadily declined throughout history (in other words, we humans have actually showed more restaint and mercy towards each other the further away we've gotten from our history as regular animals).

Sorry to completely sink your 'humans are bastards' thing there.
That little speech of yours right there? The one that I quoted?

Awesome.

Actually,I did have a big speech planned for something like this, but FUCK IT,so yeah.Oh,you're crying about how we brought murder, damage to the environment and other animals, let's just take a few steps back in History.A rather painfully big amount of steps, because we're going back a few million years.Huh,bring down trees and pollute to protect ourselves by creating tools?Fuck that,we're harming the environment!Kill animals because they're trying to kill us,we need food to survive, and their fur to keep us warm and away from temperature-related-diseases?FUCK THAT,we're CRUELY MURDERING INNOCENT ANIMALS!Eat fish so our brains can start evolving?Nah,poor little fish!Wait, how about plants? Can we eat plants?Nope,we can't.They're living beings too(and being vegetarian is retarded)!
If you love your animals so fucking much you might as well go live with them.See if THEY wouldn't kill YOU for food(or even themselves).
So 21st century industry is equal to ancient humans cutting trees down in terms of pollution?
On a different scale, yeah.Just imagine where would we be if we stopped progressing in society. No new inventions like the automobile(apparently it harms the environment),no factories to create the stuff we use every day,no mining for resources, nothing.Would be pretty fuckin' rad, huh?

ACTUALLY NO,IT WOULDN'T.IT'D BE PRETTY FUCKIN' RETARDED.
You say "apparently" like it was just discovered recently that cars cause pollution.

I'd rather live in a world that is the same as today in 50 years than live in a shithole.
I said "apparently" exactly for that reason.Because people act like it's big news and no-one saw it coming. And you'd rather stop all kinds of progress right now?No new inventions,no curing new diseases,nothing?That's..uh..no offense, that's kind of stupid.

Thank you, I'm just here to deliver a well-aimed boot up the backside to those who need it most.

For great justice and what-not.

Actually I have stopped caring a while ago now.

Since you're Danish, I take it you haven't heard of Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez or anybody like that. Google them.

We actually have quite a few strays that live around us. The thing is though that they don't kill each other for "sport". It's all about instincts. They don't do it for fun, unlike a lot of humans. It's because of territory reasons.

Also, don't forget that the conquistadors fucked over the Aztecs, Incas and others HARD. Those were some heartless son of a bitches. And then, many years later, the Americans made the Indians march through the cold to the reservations, many dying along the way. Do some research.

Let's not also forget Hitler. Animals don't imprison millions of other animals and gas them.
No, animals kill eachother in the tens of millions every single day because they are incapable of doing otherwise. Its all they can comprehend, and it is all that they do.

I am keenly interested in history, and I am perfectly aware of the horrible crimes that individuals and associations have wrought upon eachother in the past. This has to be viewed in the context of the number of humans around, the level of destruction we are capable of rendering, and the prevailing ideas of the day. I'm Slavic looking, I'd have been exterminated (or enslaved if lucky) had Hitler been allowed to carry out his wishes.

Have you ever stopped to wonder why it is we even talk of Hitler if all humans are as bad as him? Do we prefer to speak of everyday things or the unusual?

While I do not condone the negative acts that humanity have done, we have structured 95%-99% of our exisstance around pleasing others, while the remainder are devoted to ensure that behaving like animals isn't an option.

Most animals devote their entire existence to destroying each other.

100 out of 10,000,000,000+ over 10,000 years doesn't define our species. Again I must ask you: What species on this planet has done more good than humanity? Who else stops to ponder liberty, justice and equality?

Also watch a cat kill a mouse and tell me there isn't sport involved. :3

We really are, aren't we?
We are the dominant species on this planet, we have eradicated disease, we have been in space and we are just awsome.

SO WHY DOES EVERYONE ACT LIKE WE'RE NOT!?

Discuss! (sorry it's brief but my brother is shouting at me)
Yeah, in a world where the richest man can own several jet planes and the poorest man has no access to fucking water, humans are a bit shit. Also, we havn't really eradicated disease as people still die of curable illnesses EVERY DAY even in developed countries, to say nothing of the very curable malaria killing impoverished africans by the millions.

Also, no humans seem to care as a lot of them are too busy fighting century old tribal conflicts or millennium old religious wars.

The most lucrative trades are guns and drugs, with slavery still making money world wide.

All this, and the most worrying thing to some people is whether or not evolution is taught to children.

For these, and many other reasons, humans are just plain shit. Sure we've done impressive stuff, but we can't even make the majority of ourselves happy.

Well for one we're the reason everything is going to shit, if humans didn't exist the earth would be better off. We are also one of the few species to be self destructive and the most liable to cause major damage to an ecosystem through war or expansion.

If an asteroid decides to show up on our doorstep humans are the only chance this planet got at surviving a mass extinction.
We are also the only way anything on this planet can travel to other planets.

And many species are self destructive. We don't hear about it because of everyone having an appeal to nature.

Actually bacteria are. They're the true owners and masters of this planet. We cannot possibly survive if bacteria should die out. Us humans just live on the surface a bit, not doing much that has a really big impact.

Still, we're pretty damn impressive mammals. That's for sure.

Pffff, Earth has had plenty of mass-extinctions before, and look at where we are now.

Why would a species need to be moved to another planet, except for an asteroid of course.
I'm not talking about some disaster that is the least likely to happen, I'm talking about the state of the earth right now and how it came to be that way.

I think humans are pretty cool. We've had some ups (the invention of video games, sliced bread, the internet and stand up comedy - All of these are my own personal opinions, you mileage may vary) some downs (the spanish inquisition, the nazis, Michael Bay and polystyrene - once again, YMMV) but I think on average; we've done pretty well and we'll get better.

We are pretty damn neat, but that doesn't give us the right to grind the rest of this beautiful sphere under our boot heel at our whim.

There's a lot of room for us to be a lot better. We must remember that we exist as a result and consequence of everything else around us. Without it, we are nothing.

There is room for improvement. By putting ourselves down we then strive to achieve that improvement.
And we're destroying this planet which isn't exactly the biggest accomplishment.
