I actually try to cripple their weapon hand. Easy to fight stuff that can't shoot back.

If it's accurate enough (you know, with every body part at 95), I go for the head. More damage.

IF it's not, like if I'm sniping, then I just go for the body part I'm most likely to hit. I'm probably sneaked if I'm doing this, so there's more damage anyway.

If possible, the grenade in their hand. Ended a 5v1 fight in two shots that way, once. First round took the 'nade and four of the raiders with it, the second took the one straggler in the back of the head as he tried to run away.

Head.... Why can't I shoot them in the crouch using V.A.Ts Bethesda?
Because it's not cool.

OT: The head. Always the head.

If it's some fast enemy (like a death claw or a reaver), I shoot them in the legs.

If it's an enemy with a pretty worrying weapon, shoot their heads.

Every other time, the head.

There is something really satisfying about shooting a guys grenade/dynamite or whatever so it blows up in their hand. Failing that, I switch up which part I shoot so I can get more of the challenge XP (I'm a grinder).

I don't often use VATS, I use a mod for a slowmotion thingy that replaces it. I point my gun at them, pierce a few bullets in their chest and I can trust those things to die from it.
Since Honest Hearts came out I always use the Survivalist Rifle with my trusty shotgun which I have textured myself.

I do tend to carry a 10mm for executions, imperial guard commissr style, if an enemy turs their back on me to flee, a quick weapon change and 10mm round to the back of the skull for cowardice.

Head if the game is serious, I get Sniper perk and all head-shot related things for VATS. But if I am overpowered against current enemies or using cheats or both... Legs, arms and weapon. The shits and giggles to be had when they resort to their worst weapon...

Likewise. However, never in my years of playing Fallout 3/New Vegas did I think of shooting melee enemies/deathclaws in the legs or rocket launcher armed enemies in the arms. Feel kind of stupid for not thinking of that sooner. :p

I pretty much always go for the head. If the chances are low I'll go for a torso shot, or if I'm feeling lucky a grenade or disarm shot.

Head. If I go for V.A.T.S. Normally I pick sniper rifle and don't bother with it but when I do it's almost always head. If there's no change of hitting, I go for torso.
Ninjas. They're everywhere!

This to a tee. I prefer to use Sniper or Hunting Rifles from a distance at which VATS doesn't work. If I use it I go head every time with the exception of when there's no chance of hitting. On these occasions, I go for the torso.

More improtantly it seems, if there was an option to aim for the groin, would you take this option instead? and how often?
Every.
Single.
Time.

I love how 90% of people here think crotch is spelled "crouch"

I always end up going for the head if the hit chance is high enough, at lower hit chances I just aim normally

Where ever it calls for. But hitting back tossed grenades with a baseball bat is by far the coolest thing to do in vats. >:}
