What do you think video-games have given us that could help us in a real life situation? You can take this seriously or as a joke, I really don't mind.

Thinking with Portals. Solving problems by using tools that you have been provided with, in ways you may have never thought of before.

probably the Tetris Syndrome or whatever people call it. Its made it so we're even more space efficient, which makes Humanity even more able to do more in its technological advancement.

RPGs are a great way to increase your vocabulary. When looking over a word list for the GRE, I was sort of surprised about how many of the words I knew because of various RPGs I had played. Who says video games never teach you anything?

I'll defer to Yahtzee in his review of Bayonneta, "a skillset which will have many practical applications, such as if you're ever called upon to enthusiastically text message someone while polishing a pickled gherkin"
but really, i believe i read a study once about how playing games like call of duty make people able to pick out details easier. also i've done a lot of math organizing things in rpgs and MMOs.

Press X not to die.

Also, that all people with the name "Bishop" in games are evil. That one guy from L.A. Noire is a pedophile, and the one from NWN2
Is a treasonous scum-bag who trys to kill you

I have learnt that the British army is wrong and that you should always remove your finger from the trigger and complete the entire reload drill of an L86 and/or L64 (Enfield) with your right hand. It's strange that that should happen ingame as you shouldn't move the right hand at all during reload.

Don't you think the LA Noire bit should be spoilered? I know I didn't know that until reading your post.

It is pretty obvious he is a pedo. You catch him at a childrens playground and he doesn't hide it.

I think the Bioshock series has taught me that system of government based around the views of Objectivists would not be able to sustain itself. Not exactly a skill, but still an interesting tidbit.

WoW has taught me how to develop & use an "ignore list" in real life. It works surprisingly well, even when the ignored person is standing right in front of you.

I'll say English language.

Ok, i didn't learn English only by playing video games, but it definitely helped me refine it.

And during an emission, a Controller will almost always spawn within 100 meters of you; if you're in a basement, it will spawn upstairs (I'm positive this happens every time I hide in the Cement Factory).

Indeed, I rather enjoyed that element of the game. I learned from that game that once into the 21st century, the are likely to want passengers, mail, autos, lumber, goods and cement the most...

OT: Empire: Total War taught me the value of being a loyal ally, so when they betray you, destroying them to the last province is all the more justifiable.
