Try Forum Games. They're a good way to start getting to know people.

I'm worried that we sort of metaphorically "sold our soul" to beat Zynga.
Advertising on the launcher, getting help from /b/.
I'd have rather lost than sink that low.
Oh, thank you for the advice! I sure do appreciate it.

Nothing wrong with advertising, I mean it wasn't just Zynga or Valve that did it. Bioware and Blizzard both did it as well, in fact. Though whoever posted the competition on /b/, was out of their mind. The porn and the gore that they posted were not worth whatever votes may have been yielded from such an act, for both sides. Imagine if a mother or a child saw those pictures? Definitely was not worth going to 4chan for votes.

There is a part of me that rather enjoys the thought of that.
It's times like these I wish there were emotes to adequately express the hilarity of that statement.
Though I do trust that such a sight would cause a very shocked expression. I will let the OMG Cat demonstrate:

Yeah, probably like that.

Definitely not worth going there for votes.

I would also like to know who posted the "VOTE" event in the 4chan Steam group, and why they thought that was a good idea.

They actually wrote an article on it? That is freaking sweet!

While he may have overdramatized it, I feel a sense of pride knowing that I was a part of that battle. It wasen't just a victory us and for Valve, it was a victory for all of those who came to offer their support and the idea that we may all have diffrent tastes, but we are all gamers and we will support the developer who deserved to win.
brilliant post, I feel proud that we withstood the Zynga hordes and I know that if they are involved next year that the virtual farmers wont get very far.

Well, it may have been that the 4chan steam group may have aided in giving Valve votes. Though at this point we may never know. Either way, the damage has been done. Though in time, will be repaired.

Pretty hilariously biased, but thats not exactly unexpected coming from a personal gaming blog. Was a pretty good read, made the clash feel very epic.

Zynga made march madness fun
It was them vs the gaming world and they held their own
Hats off to them
I'm not gonna lie: Zynga is the shitstain of modern day gaming, but man they made MM pretty damn fun and interesting to say the least. Without them stirring up controversy, I would have been like "Oh Nintendo lost in the end? Oh well. You guys can have your fun", but with Zynga in the game, it was fun to twist words of Zynga advocates.

True. I would think a Steam group would be in favor of Valve. It'll all settle down again soon enough, though. MM sucks.

I'm very glad that Valve won. I'm still confused as to how Zynga even got into March Mayhem.

Eh, looks like someone expected me to describe the poor virtual farmers as victimized by the cruel evil villanious Escapist residents.

Glad that you liked it, it always feels good to be of service :D

What a corny read.

Not much more to contribute, but I think the writer thought they were being a lot funnier than they were.
If you found it corny, then I'm glad it struck home :D It was supposed to be absolutely and intentionally corny. And I see nothing wrong with it :D

Yeah ,MM does seem to bring out the worst in people, though it's almost over. Equilibrium will soon be restored, and all the members that were in their bomb shelters during MM, will come out to play again.

Yup, and we get some nifty new people too.
I know for a fact that the entire TF2 user group swore off the forums for MM. That's ~250 people.

Well thank you! At least I think you are giving me a compliment.lol

Really? It was that bad? Heh, well I did hear that last year when Turbine used their launcher to get votes. People freaked out pretty badly, so maybe its a learned experience. In any case, they will hopefully be back soon!

I love new people. Because then they can become interesting old people.

Well, what happened last year was that the mods overreacted and went banhammer crazy all March. People were banned for very vague reasons, things like that. They were all a little on the paranoid side this time.
