Good day Forum goer and Forum-goer-ettes!
Today in the spirit of my past useful helpful and completely factual guides I would like to offer another part of my infinite wisdom...second only to our Lord and saviour Jim
[b/]but Vault![/b] you say
[b/]aren't you exasperating this issue by creating yet another thread adding to the glut of gender threads?[/b]
why you might be very well correct my friend! but I would implore you to take a look at the quantifiable clusterfuck our forums appear to be, is my thread going to make things any worse?
[b/]yes[/b]
[sub/]yeah well maybe you should take a break[/sub]
now the debate around feeeemales appears to fire the hearts of many online forum dwellers, yet it seems people need instruction of how to go about it
and that's where I come in!
I have complied a set of rules which everyone should follow when approaching an argument you are not required to follow them however failure to do so will....not do anything
[I/]1. can your argument be boiled down to "stop talking and go away"?[/I]
these might include
-refusal to acknowledge any disparity
-yeah but men
-make your own games
[b/]aren't they vaild arguments?[/b]
they could very well be in different context, particularly the first is a valid question to ask "whats the big deal in the firat place?"
however people are not to be trusted, two of these are often irrelevant 99% of the time and the other when stubbornly stuck too does nothing to further conversation or understanding. The logical conclusion to all of these is essentially [I/]everything is fine and I don't have to worry or feel bad[/I] eg:
-oh youre right...there actually isn't any issue with medias portray of women. Problem solved
-oh well that issue balnces everything out and nullifies my points. I'll speak no more
-ok I'm going to go make games instead
its a comforting thought, that nothing is wrong, but like most things its simply not true
this isn't about questioning weather or not something might be sexist, that's a discussion worth having, this is about strong denial
2.[I/]do you feel bad?[/I]
whenever someone criticises something you like do you get that little twinge in your stomach that translates to anger? do you get that twitchy little urge to slam away at a keyboard to tell them how wrong they are? even though deep down all your really arguing is a matter of taste?
do you feel that buy insulting your favourite game/movie/book/erotic fan fic that they have insulted a part of [I/]you[/I]?
I doubt people have lost their collective shit over a thing they like being insulted
[I/]it is a part of them that has been insulted[/I] the solution to this requires a little...shall we saying growing up...its a natural process you'll find happens to a lot of us
we must emotionally disconnect from the things we like..this DOES NOT mean we enjoy them less but it means we can look at them through a critical eye
for example Mass Effect 3 is full of bad writing
[b/]but...I thought you liked ME3?[/b]
I do
[b/]so you ackowleged something bad in it while liking it at the same time? is such a thing possible?[/b]
it is, I also like country and hip hop! particually Eminem
[b/]but Vault! I've gather by now you're kind of a femenazi SJW how can you POSSIBLY like something as sexist and homophobic as Eminem?[/b]
well bold text I "could" say that slim shady is just a persona and that its all just par for the coarse in Hip Hop, however personally I feel that would be dishonest, because the guy really does come across that way...he's got more issues than the entire run of superman., I enjoy his music and his skill, the sexism thing I merely put aside, as I still want to and can enjoy his work
[b/]so youre a terrible person for liking Eminem?[/b]
no I am not,
I WOULD however be a terrible person if I acted like a jerk towards those who do not share my view of Eminem for those reasons
[b/]so its not an issue for you?[/b]
it can be, I have very little interest in GTA because for me there's not really any appeal amongst the sexism and (even if it is satire) its probably a perfectly good game but I need more than just being good these days, and no, I don't hate anyone for liking GTA
so in conclusion you've got nothing to feel bad about!
[I/]3.what is your argument based on?[/I]
are you frightened there are forces similar to the illuminati led by you know who waiting to destroy all good things? well fear not! this is merely a mass hysteria populating forums and not really indicative of real life
films have been under such examination far longer than ever and they are still [strike/]sexist as ever[/S] not PC centric pillars of inclusivity
no friends, the true threat to "art" is when the commercial side takes over, a push for better representation is not and will never be a "threat" to what we hold dear, and if you enjoy projects made from the heart with compelling and diverse characters this should not be a worry
[I/]4. Feminsm[/I]
do you know it?
[b/]yes[/b]
do you?
[b/]yes[/b]
DO YOU?
[b/]yes![/b]
go look it up
[b/]but-[/b]
now!
[b/]can I use that word in the mean time?[/b]
NOOO!!
[b/]what about SJW[/b]
NEVER!!
the use of words and labels contributes to the mass hysteria particularly when its described as "political" now usually I wouldn't object to use of the word feminism but the internet has proved time and time again it cannot be trusted. This really is not political, the issue of female representation in games is a very basic position and shouldn't really be controversial
[I/]5. ultimately do you have anything to say? do you have anything to learn?[/I]
has slamming your head against a keyboard taught you anything? are you better for it? have you LEANRED anything or have you just gotten yourself into a rage? why are you upset?...really? would this time be better spent listening to enya?
I would like to thank you all for reading, unfordable I won't be reachable as I have descended into my protective bunker..
[b/]but Vault! I found your post both condescending and one sided![/b]
any condescension you may find in this post may in fact be intentional satire in the style of jim sterling, any unintentional condecention I apologise for and you encourage you to blame our lord and saviour Jim
I do however take full responsibly for any "bias" you think my post contains, my opinions may align with one particular "side" to this great debate and I make no pretense taking any perceived "middle ground" as the assumption that a middle ground always exists and is always "correct" is quite frankly false as far as I'm concered
[b/]vault you post has made me angry![/b]
take the following steps
1.go to youtube
2. look up "sail away by enya"
3. sail away
