May I?
That actually sounds very interesting. Certainly something I would have never thought possible.

I became a Vegetarian because I don't like the taste/thought of meat - so it doesn't help me.

Not for hippy reasons of 'meat are people too mannn.'

Well.. manufactured pork might be ok.. but, Farmers will have to release all their pigs. The pigs will then go and meet with wild boars who will teach them how to survive. Eventually they create a secret civilization of pigs slowly breeding and increasing their numbers. They will create cities under our cities. It will start off primitive but eventually they will learn to make pukes (pig nukes), and when they amass enough firepower, BOOM, pig overlords.

OT: This seems like an interesting idea and it should be tried. There are issues like "how is it created?" "what is my body getting from it?" and "God doesnt like it". The last is just an ignorant reason but it does raise a point. The further we drift from natural things the more uncertain we become because it's scary and never been done.

I will however wait to see if people turn into pig mutants from it FIRST before I start enjoying it.

That too.

I heard about this a while ago, and it's a good idea, but I reckon it'll be a long time before it becomes in any way economically viable, it's got to be said.

The amount of "no I couldn't ever have a meal without meat IT'S SOOO TASTY!" people out there who aren't willing to divert grain resources from intensive farming of animals to actually feeding people suggests that there's going to be a market for it, though.

I'll stick to vegetarianism in the meantime, though. And possibly long afterwards. I ate meat for 14 years, but I don't really see the appeal after 7 years of being veggie.

if this gets on track our problems will be solved but then real meat for us will be like real blood is for the vampires in Daybreakers.(see: MovieBobs review of the movie if your confused) Regardless of how it comes to this whether we run out of animals to butcher for it or get far enough with the mass producing the artificial stuff(and slaughter houses/butchers are put out of business) people will be willing to pay a premium for the real stuff.

Didn't Einstien once say "Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet". Just a thought.

I've been kinda vegetarian for a few years but this sounds good to me. I'm not vegetarian only when I know the cow hasn't been treated badly, and I don't really care how a stem cell has been treated.

These reasons for being veggie are uncommon though (I think?) so yeah lots of people will still be vegetarian.

I smell animal overpopulation coming.

I object to the way animals are treated in factories across America, but not in any way to the consumption of animal meat.

If it tastes the same, and doesn't cause any horrid defects, I'm happy.

And this really reminds me of Deadrising...

=O woo hoo!
personally i think careful genetic modification could potentially solve world hunger.

also, YAY in a few years i might have more than cheese in my sandwiches!

...
also, there is also substitute meat made from mushrooms that tastes like meat, aside from the texture, and the amount of protein...
that and it's a little more bland tasting...

Well, it's still killing an animal.

Also, a lot of vegetarians I know are because of the taste, not morals, so this will make no difference to them.
Um, no it's not.

And even if it was, it's slaughtering one pig to get well over a million times the meat. Seems more humane.

Edit: The hell.

Why does Irridium have the same avatar as me? I call shenanigans!
