The entire show was horrible. Non stop unnecessary sex jokes. Crapy awards. No best multiplayer or best sport game awards! I felt horrible after watching this. If I had kids I would never let them watch that.

EDIT: Didn't Heavy Rain come out this year?

I personally would have gone for Mass Effect 2 but I'm just glad neither Black Ops or Reach didn't get it.

Though didn't anyone else notice there were like 10 awards they didn't announce winners for?

do it .... right now.....QUICK!
Okay! Fine, everyone keeps telling me to, SO I WILL!

OT - I'm happy Bioware won studio of the year. I would have been pretty annoyed if Bungie won. >.>

*hits you* GO PLAY MASS EFFECT NAOW. Even though it wasn't my choice for game of the year <.<
[small]I said please![/small]

What was your choice for GOTY?
I's sorry :(

And I dare not speak of it here for fear the haters will eat my soul.

...okay fine it was Final Fantasy XIII.
I would be happy with Final Fantasy XIII winning GOTY.

I haven't played Mass Effect 1 or 2 either, but I've heard they are really good. So it was either Red Dead Redemption or that. Also a COD character winning, really? When has a COD character ever had any real personality, terrible choice. There were some cool trailers at least, Portal and Prototype sequels and more info on Guillermo del Toro's game.

But god damn did a lot of those jokes go over poorly. Some painfully awkward moments when the audience just didn't laugh.

I still have to finish that game... >.> Still, the more I think about it, the more I like it. Even so, I highly prefer RDR at the moment.

I haven't either. actually. Though I definitely intend to.
Good! Another poor soul who's apparently missing out. Glad I'm not alone in here. >.>

The awards were ridiculous (Woods being a better character than John Marston? Hell no), but it was worth it for the announcements.
I happened to tune in as soon as they announced Woods over Marston and I wasn't impressed. I'm now watching it from the beginning, so I'm looking forward to the Elder Scrolls V announcement. xD

Since when do we watch the VGA's for anything OTHER than trailers and info on upcoming games? Of course the awards are going to be terrible and don't even get me started on all the other bullshit that happened. It's just Spike's way of shoehorning shit in an attempt to turn the show into American Idol or X's Got Talent or any of the other annoying and idiotic shows currently on TV so they can draw in the masses.

Red Dead deserves it, but I refuse to watch the VGA's. All the cool reveals are instantly put online, anyways.

Though I have to say, it sounds like there was some effort to make the show less shallow. Can someone who watched tell me whether or not it was any better this year?
No, it sucked. Pointless sequences including a lame TMZ segment and My Chemical Romance and half of the categories and their winners went unmentioned. The show ended so abruptly that I was left with a sense of whiplash. I have no idea what happened, but leaving out half of the categories that many people voted on and having lame ass jokes and segments gave me the impression that Spike just gave the gaming community the finger.

Meh, didn't really like the choices of GOTY. But then again I don't care much for these things. I just watch for the trailers.

Like Skyrim. That has me very excited. Like hardcore.
Okay, I just saw that world premiere for ESV. Looks awesome, and the host making fun of it... annoying.

Who actually watched the VGA's for the awards?

I was stoked about the trailers. Uncharted 3 and Arkham City anyone?

So far (I've started watching it from the beginning after watching the last ten minutes of it) it's entirely about sex. I know it's gonna be more annoying than anything, but some world premieres are kind of worth it.

The jokes were awful, Dane Cook deserved to be nowhere near a stage, and Michael Chicklis was the bad mother shut your mouth that he always is.[footnote]Seriously, the guy is a bro.[/footnote]

But at least RDR won, Uncharted 3 got an extended trailer (Victor "Goddamn" Sullivan bro-ops sections, hell yes, all of my money!)... and Jose Gonzalez performed Far Away. So it wasn't all bad.[footnote]Just a good 94% of it[/footnote]

Honestly they were freaking terrible. All the attempts at humor were so juvenile I doubt even the kids that swear you out on Xbox live laughed at them. NPH was very meh, the Chickless lift is going to be either a meme or a gaffe on every single entertainment show, and they cut Nathan Fillion's mic in the middle of him talking. Nobody had a stage appearance long enough (besides NPH) to even make a decent joke. Everything was predictable, including most of the reveals, and they were all short and underwhelming. Spike needs to lern2awardsshow.

Sorry, but RDR was not GOTY. That should have gone to Mass Effect 2.

There was far too much fellatio of Red Dead Redemption at those awards...and I think little of it was deserved. Then again, I've always felt RDR was over-hyped...so that's probably just me.

Have you played it? I haven't played ME or ME2, so I'm a little biased. RDR was a pretty damn good game. I'm just happy it beat out Reach. >.<

Well deserved, and Bioware was well deserved as best studio of the year, Mass Effect 2 is a memorable game and they made some pretty good DLC for it too.
Not to mention Dragon Age. I know it's not as good as good on the console, but I still personally loved it, including most of it's DLC.

A shame that Jack Wall didn't win best original score for ME2, I thought he did bloody well. Haven't played Red Dead Redemption so I can't judge.

Other than that can't complain too much.
