I'm still watching it but so far, none of the awards have surprised me until this. I would have thought it would go to Black Ops but I was hoping it would beat in.

I didn't really get how Bioware won studio of the year but not game of the year. They only made the one game and put out DLC too.
Rockstar got GOTY but not studio. They also got best DLC.

Doesn't make sense to me. Oh well. Both are stellar games.

But I liked Mass Effect 2 a tiny bit more.

Just watched a 'premiere' for INSANE, which isn't meant for release until 2013... I still don't understand why some games are announced so damn early.

Red Dead was as good a game as any other this year (except for Super Mario Galaxy 2 which kicked ARSE) so, good for Rockstar.

I mostly glad Halo/Call of Duty didn't go home with the title. But whatevs, man.

I've never watched the American TopGear, but it looks like absolute shite... I dislike Spike a little more right now.

Also just saw the Forza 4 premiere. I haven't even completely 2 or 3. >.>

I am just glad Call of Duty didn't win. I feel they shouldn't have even nominated any of the games that came out in the last month since they are so new, but that's just my opinion on that.

I agree... that was pretty frustrating. I still don't see how 'Woody' deserved character of the year of Marston, but I guess I'm a little more than biased.

It's new, it's popular, and the viewers were allowed to vote, naturally, it's a popularity contest instead of anything else.

Went to Red Dead Redemption.

The nominees were:

Red Dead Redemption
Call of Duty: Black Ops
God of War III
Halo: Reach
Mass Effect 2

Made me extremely happy that it beat out Black Ops, 'cause it was ridiculous that Black Ops won character of the year. >.<

How'd you guys like the VGAs this year (assuming you watched it)?

Red Dead deserves it, but I refuse to watch the VGA's. All the cool reveals are instantly put online, anyways.

Though I have to say, it sounds like there was some effort to make the show less shallow. Can someone who watched tell me whether or not it was any better this year?

No, todd howard was there and had the gull to say his games were the best thing to happen to spike's VGA and the world. What an arrogant ass. His games were more juvenile than all of elmo's games combined. The NPCs acted like damn children (one of the damnn quests in oblivion was to help a GROWN MAN help make a girl LIKE him for christ sake), and the story is stock quality at best not to mention the dialogue likely written by a lobotimized writer.

Aww, isn't that cute? Another Bio-fanboy bashing Bethesda. My, aren't we feeling original today? (Note that I love Bioware's stuff myself.)

The VGA's weren't that good in and of themselves. ME2 should have won, hands down. However, having TESV and ME3 being revealed in the same hour made my day utterly. It was amazing.

The awards were painful to watch. I cringed every time they tried to be funny. One guy even had to excuse himself with something like "I'm reading this from the teleprompter" because nobody was laughing. And the awards themselves lost all credibility with me when that guy from Black Ops won Best Character. I would have gone for Trip [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKdzMBZgpic] from Enslaved, personally, but that's just me.

The trailers, though, were great. The trailer for Arkham City in particular was the highlight of the show for me, with Uncharted 3 close behind.

I wasn't impressed myself. It was the first award I caught on TV, and when I found out he beat Marston, I was just shook my head. I mean, really? Really?

Still, the ESV and ME3 (yes, I have yet to play the first two) premiers were worth it, along with a few others.

Sex jokes, and shit though... irritating.

I'm just glad it didn't go to Black Ops. Personally, RDR was my choice, but likely because I haven't played Mass Effect yet, let alone Mass Effect 2.
