I have been takeing a break from my xbox and MW2 because im sick of the crap it shoves in my face to play some VALVe games on my computer, like half life 2 and such. and i have found myself emotionaly attached to alot of the charicters because VALVe did such a great job makeing me care about them unlike i do with all the MW2 charecters besides price. Alex for instance feels like a human being she shows emotion and i care what happens to her....i actually stopped and waited beside her like i was comforting her when we got off the stalker train in ep 1. I also feel this way about most of the Halo charecters. so my fellow escapist what charecters in video games do you feel truely connected to and you care about. And do any of you get what im saying about Alex.

edit: Explain why

The characters of Final Fantasy X were ones that I ended up really caring about.

Other game characters I cared about include: Heavy Rain cast, Ratchet and Clank, Nathan Hale.

The only video game character who I really care about is Tali from the Mass Effect games. I won't choose rude or angry dialogue choices with her, and for my first two playthroughs of Mass Effect 2 I was afraid to risk tasking her with a crucial job even though I knew she could pull it off without a hitch. On my first playthrough I sent Legion instead, and he died because he was disloyal. The reason? I sided against him in an argument between him and Tali, due to me not having enough renegade points to make them back down.

I really cared about Niko Bellic in GTA 4, but that's probably just me.
Most people seem to despise that game in general.

Aeris Gainesborough, FFVII.

Yup, I'm a walking cliche.
No, you'd be a walking cliche if you were one of those people who went around screaming about how awful a character she is without being able to back it up. I've heard at least 1000 people in the last 13 years tell me how she's the worst character ever made, and is horrible and awful and destroyed FFVII. Not one gave me a legitimate reason why.

So the cliche people are her haters. I've never seen someone who liked Aerith making that kind of annoying noise.
Fair enough. They annoy me as well, though I share their opinion of her being less useful in battle compared to Tifa or Barrett.

All of the companions from Dragon Age and most from Mass Effect, also Sargent Johnson from the Halo series.

John Marston from Red Dead Redemption. He is one of those characters that even though you can choose if he he is good or bad most people will take the good path, but i didn't fell that with Jack at all.

I felt the same way. Rockstar does a great job at making you care for their characters despite the fact they were all murdering psychopaths.

These gents quite literally snuck their way into my care-ing center.

Garrett, the most skilled thief you've never seen.

Sam Fisher, the man lending a hand to folks that forget to shave in the morning.

Archer and Kestrel, the unsung team-kick ass that deserves more credit than it gets.

Artyom, the underdog of Metro 2033 with the unbreakable will. I just want to give that poor lad a hug, he could really use one.

And Heavy Rain.
Yeap, Heavy rain was the first game were I felt genuinely upset when my actions lead to the death of a character because it felt like it really was my fault, and Because the game will go on without you there was no way to just go back and fix it without starting again. Feels bad man...
