what game do you think has been the biggest let down, and why?

What.

OT: Hmm, I don't get let down much...Fallout 3 I guess, it was OK, but not even close to my expectations.

Jak 3, followed by Sly 3. I got these games very recently, after immensely enjoying the previous games in the series when they were originally released.

They weren't as good, but still leagues better than most stuff this gen.

A shallow game that was ultimately nothing like it was hyped up to be. The customization was good, but the game play was so boring and frustrating in the later stages of the game that it felt like a chore to play it. Biggest disappointment of my entire life.

I've played both Fallout 1 and 2 and 3 was not the same game. It had a few of the same elements that had to be in there to call it Fallout but it wasn't like the original. It lacked the fun and playability the others had.

A real stick in the mud aren't you?

The majority of big releases are disappointing in one way or another.
I see this topic show up so much that I have to be, because its one of the most annoying ones that comes up.

Dead Rising for being too unnecessarily frustrating.

Any "____ Maker" game for being too vague or too complicated.

Halo 3 ODST for saying it's anything but a 60 dollar DLC pack.

if it annoys you so much, why do you go into it?

Prince of Persia 2008

What a piece of shit.

After they perfected the arts of videogame combat and platforming in the SOT trilogy, Ubisoft must have had a board meeting a little like this:

'ok enough of that fun stuff, let's give gamers castrated platforming with overlong, QTE filled, frustrating boss battles!'

'But boss, that doesn't sound annoying enough.... we want to really piss fans off'

'Ok... let's make them fight each boss 5 TIMES!'

'Bon!'

I must agree with you there, I loved it at first then I hit the wall with the warrior guy you have to shove off the ledge. I never was able to beat him. I'd get laughably close and then POW he'd break and I'd have to start over. Had it not been for him, I would have beaten the game already

if anyone out there knows the trick to button mashing to beat the warrior please tell me
T^T [sub] I wanted to beat that game[/sub]

I'm with you on that. It got old real. It's not my biggest let down. That would be Mirrors Edge. It had so much potential and to see it wasted due to very small faults.

You think you're being controversial?

I choose Portal. The only part I really found funny was Still Alive, and I found the puzzles ridiculously easy. A very unique and greatly presented game, yet at the end I couldn't help but feel quite dissapointed.

i would have to say GTA

everyone flips their shit when they hear about GTA games but doesnt realise they are immature, have bad graphics and worse control schemes...

only decent thing is the cars and thats what most people don't like about those games...

oh yeah and dead rising, it just felt like a GTA zombie mod

Ahh, you may misunderstand me. I didn't think it was great, but it was far, far superior to the first 2. Nostalgia and stubbornness make people think otherwise. They had some good parts, but ironically, fun and playability were the 2 things they lacked for me.

Oh and of course it wasn't the same game, it's like a decade later, and made by different people. Don't forget, if it wasn't for Bethesda, Fallout would be a distant memory.

This. Oh so much this. It could have been great - but it isn't. Because someone at EA desperately needed another cash cow.
