I must agree with you there, I loved it at first then I hit the wall with the warrior guy you have to shove off the ledge. I never was able to beat him. I'd get laughably close and then POW he'd break and I'd have to start over. Had it not been for him, I would have beaten the game already

if anyone out there knows the trick to button mashing to beat the warrior please tell me
T^T [sub] I wanted to beat that game[/sub]
Same! I've attempted that guy about 800 times but I just can not do it and I just get so fucking bored of it that I stopped playing what could of been an alright game.

Have you ever gone to your local video game vendor, seen a used copy of a totally horrible game (google a review for Metal Dungeon for Xbox if you want a perfect example), then go in the next day and find out someone actually bought that steaming load? I'm that guy. It's a hobby, I suppose. My game shelf is where bad games go to die. I like to think that I'm immune to hype because I know how badly games can turn out, but one instance sticks out in my mind.

The original Fable. Despite my early cynicism from the outset, I ended up getting caught up in the hype. It was supposed to be a revolutionary role-playing game, where you could do anything and got better as you did it. I imagined myself wielding a broom like a sword and actually gaining experience with it until I could send dragons to a bristly doom. I pictured myself stalking across rooftops in the middle of the night, picking open locked windows, and silently assassinating shopkeepers who were too stingy to give me a discount on those new boots I fancied. Plus, I remember reading an article early in the game's development cycle that mentioned turning into a Balverine if you were bitten, which could have been badass if it had been implemented.

Sadly, all my dreams amounted to just that: vivid fantasy. The game was fun, but was far from the freeform adventuring I had expected. To this day, when I see a shop owner sweeping up, I think to myself, "I could have killed you with that..."

The first Harvest Moon. I bought it on Virtual Console thinking it would be like the more recent ones it wasn't.

Also this. It was still fun though in my opinion. Then again I was younger then and started going into the real plot. Yeah that game had a plot, but you had to look for it.

I will base my let down solely on the first or prior game(s) in the series:

Chrono Cross: Not completely terrible, but dull and boring. The music was amazaing but it no way compared to how good CT was.

SSX Blur: Wii controls were crap for this game. I spent too many hours with both Tricky and 3 to say this game should be anything less than mindless fun, but it was only mindless.

Most games nowadays that classify as "triple-A" titles seem to be 'let downs'. They try to make the games as casual as possible so every type of gamer can play it. Sometimes I think that games are made for shareholders instead for videogamers.

Quick list of "let downs": Gta4, Operation Flashpoint 2, Dragon Age...

I actually liked Borderlands, perhaps because I lowered my expectations when the release came closer.

You how the sad this thing is I have not play that many games this year // I think I have gone through Batman and Assassin Creed II, thats its // I only really buy games I want to play and when I remember to bring some money to Game Stop

Maybe if I was not so picky I would be let down more by the games that come out

Oh well

Final Fantasy 7. THIS IS THE ONE THEY MAKE THE BIG DEAL ABOUT? FF8 was sooooooooo much better.
Holy mother of fuck, I thought I was the only one who liked 8...

My biggest letdowns of the past decade or so:
- Spore
- Oblivion
- Far Cry 2
- Hellgate: London
- Unreal Tournament 3
- Final Fantasy XII
- America's Army
- Every single Spyro game after 3
- Every single Crash Bandicoot after 3
- Every single Silent Hill after 3
- Every single Resident Evil after Code Veronica
- Every single Tomb Raider from Angel of Darkness and beyond
- Every single game made by Bioware (I really need to stop letting my friends talk me into them)

I feel Dragon Age: Origins is just like any other Bioware game that they just stamp a storyline onto and call it original idea, but I can't shake off the suspicion this is basically Dungeon Siege 3, which puts me at tough decision of hating it because it ripped off Dungeon Siege or liking it because this is the closest thing TO a Dungeon Siege 3.

At least, of course, until DS3 does come out, so I can have an excuse to take Dragon Age to the park with my dog and play Frisbee with it.

A shallow game that was ultimately nothing like it was hyped up to be. The customization was good, but the game play was so boring and frustrating in the later stages of the game that it felt like a chore to play it. Biggest disappointment of my entire life.
Agreeded. It's not only one of the most disappointing games I've ever played. It's the biggest pile of shit I've had the misfortune to sit though. The hype carried me though 8 hours of depressingly bad gameplay before I reached the space age, which turned out to be just as bad, and even MORE fustrating.

I loved the creature creator. I spend weeks and weeks messing about with that thing before the game was released. But the game was terrible.

Jak 3, followed by Sly 3. I got these games very recently, after immensely enjoying the previous games in the series when they were originally released.

They weren't as good, but still leagues better than most stuff this gen.
Christ I loved Jak 3. I HATE with a fucking passion what they've done to the series. Jak X? The ONLY game that was good when it went from a Platformer to a racing game was Crash Team Racing. Oh christ that was fun.

Modern Warfare 2, obviously.
And Resident Evil 5.

Not necessarily in that order.

Oblivion, especially because I had to wait a few years after it's release before I got a new computer good enough to play it. I kept on logging hours into Morrowind all the way up to 2007 and my new laptop, then once I got over the shiny graphics it finally hit me how much a disappointment Oblivion was. Never got over it, although Fallout 3 redeemed my faith in Bethesda.

Hellgate: London for sure, that game was an utter wreck. I can't believe they didn't put more effort into the quest-givers, fleshing out the NPCs a bit more, adding a proper cut-scene here or there might have helped. The fact that you didn't really care about anyone meant there was really no motivation to finish the game.

GTA4 was a small disappointment, the main problem being the 'friends' constantly calling you up. That one tiny annoyance effectively ruined the entire gameplay experience for me.

Half-Life 2. I found it quite boring (and not playing Half-Life 1 the story was kinda confusing, but nothing a little investigating can solve). The vehicle controls were awkward and most enemy masses could be solved with a couple of grenades. Maybe it was just the Xbox version, but I don't know.

CoD WaW. True,i've only ever playes the story/online at the house of another person(albeit several times((dontask me why)),when I compare that to the obsessive love my freinds have for the game (and the series) I was severely unimpressed.

the remake of Alone in the Dark. It could have been such an awesome, with great music, clever fire effects and a mcgyver style of servival could really have been a true success. If only they could have had decent animations and an inventory system that wasn't a *****
