Final Fantasy 7. THIS IS THE ONE THEY MAKE THE BIG DEAL ABOUT? FF8 was sooooooooo much better.
Holy mother of fuck, I thought I was the only one who liked 8...

My biggest letdowns of the past decade or so:
- Spore
- Oblivion
- Far Cry 2
- Hellgate: London
- Unreal Tournament 3
- Final Fantasy XII
- America's Army
- Every single Spyro game after 3
- Every single Crash Bandicoot after 3
- Every single Silent Hill after 3
- Every single Resident Evil after Code Veronica
- Every single Tomb Raider from Angel of Darkness and beyond
- Every single game made by Bioware (I really need to stop letting my friends talk me into them)

I feel Dragon Age: Origins is just like any other Bioware game that they just stamp a storyline onto and call it original idea, but I can't shake off the suspicion this is basically Dungeon Siege 3, which puts me at tough decision of hating it because it ripped off Dungeon Siege or liking it because this is the closest thing TO a Dungeon Siege 3.

At least, of course, until DS3 does come out, so I can have an excuse to take Dragon Age to the park with my dog and play Frisbee with it.
every single bioware game? your saying Kotor is a bad game? =O how dare you!
It wasn't bad as much as it was just... bland. The kotor series has failed to impress me nearly as much as, let's say, the Jedi Knight series.

Oblivion(unmoded)

After the usual hype and facination I discovered how overhyped and shallow RPG it is. The action part is neat but the story is bland, loot and leveling appaling and unrealistic to be fair. The Theme(cyrodil's scenery and culture etc.) on other hand might be justifed because in TES it is the most generetic province.

But thank the moders for making great mods that holded me for couple of months.

i would have to say GTA

everyone flips their shit when they hear about GTA games but doesnt realise they are immature, have bad graphics and worse control schemes...

only decent thing is the cars and thats what most people don't like about those games...

oh yeah and dead rising, it just felt like a GTA zombie mod

Halo 2 as it failed to live up to the original and I didn't like the fully regenerative health.
Halo 3 for it being so damn short and easy compared to other I mean I finished the game in less than 3 hours on normal...

Final Fantasy 10 as it was good in it's own rights I loath the sphere grid system with the burning passion of thousand hot suns and wish it be crush in the dark abyss of a black hole.
Final Fantasy 12 for license board copy and paste what I said above.
Reason for that being I felt it added too much unnecassery grinding to the game that was never in the others sure you had your fair share but nowhere near the extent in those two titles.

Bullet Witch, Legendary, Kingdom Of Fire Circle of Doom, Dark Sector, Blacksite, all were bland buggy and badly made thank god I bought them all preowned for less than 20euro at the most.

Also Far Cry2 as it got completly boring and repetitve and the story is a complete cock slap especially about your buddies and not just once with your buddies but TWICE.

Spore, Spore and SPORE! Biggest let down of my life... I followed it's development thinking it would be epic, the original game-play videos looked wicked and then I finally got my hands on a copy........... *Kills self* They seriously took almost every element that would have made the game slightly challenging and look 1000x cooler and threw those elements out the window to make the game 5yr old friendly.... Curse you lionhead.... curse you....

Silent Hill: Homecoming and I know that I shouldn't have been because in my opinion the series hasn't been the same since Silent Hill 3, but even so, I found myself hoping that it could at least hold its own against silent hills 1-3 but it didn't. I completed the game once and never picked it up again. That and Devil May Cry 4 (even though it wasn't as bad as DMC 2)

Jak 3, followed by Sly 3. I got these games very recently, after immensely enjoying the previous games in the series when they were originally released.

They weren't as good, but still leagues better than most stuff this gen.
come now, though it was probably the weakest of the trilogy (gonna gracefully ignore the other "j&d" releases), jak 3 was still a great game. ok, the difficulty curve was stupid, but it had some breathtaking features and a quality story.
sly 3 was more of a let down for me. i managed to complete it, but only because i felt like i was betraying the effort i put into the first 2 games otherwise.
definitely agree with you on your ending point.

OT: recently KOTOR2 let me down, only just bought the 2 games a few months back and loved the first one. expecting a similar/better experience from the second, i was disappointed. among other problems, i cite kreia and in particular that bastard technician bao-dur for having voice actors which made me want to smash my computer.

the claptrap robots in borderlands

huuuuuuuuuuuge let down

but it gets a little bit of humor back if you try to see the thing as a huge movie, like the claptrap trailers imply

The Conduit. I wasn't expecting much, and it didn't even deliver that.
Nintendo: "Gee, let's make a console specifically designed for pointing and shooting, then make terrible controls for every FPS out there so you can't turn and aim simultaneously"
Then along comes SEGA, and they aim to fix that with fully customizable controls.
But SEGA, being the geniuses they are, forgot the fact that the system they released it on is called a Wii for a reason. It's so you can play it WITH people. But, guess what? NO LOCAL MULTIPLAYER. So if you wanna play this average game, then better get every friend you have to buy a copy and a Wii and then logon from their house and then call you on their cell if you wanna have a multiplayer experience.

FAIL

These are the ones that stick in my throat

Star Wars the force unleashed; it destroyed what optimism I had left that lucasarts could produce a good product.

Brutal Legend. Not saying it was bad, it's just the story seemed to take a big hit because of all the lawsuit bullshit and such. Though a certain Final Boss defeat cutscene certainly made up for it.

Before music games were overly HUGE, I was really interested in Konami's Rock Revolution game. Think about it. They made Drummania which was on the level that Rock band has been on in the US. It's been a series going strong since the 90s and Konami invented the music genre!

Imagine my chagrin when they have no license to the music, there's no good J-music (far different from the J-pop crap that people hear), and the game just wasn't what anyone would like.

Fallout 3. From the moment I realized that I skills didn't get better through use (ex. the first time I leveled up) and that I was practically forced to spend by skill points maxing out lockpicking and science and small guns. Still had a blast with the game, though. Just never going to replay it again. At least not yet. Bethesda did good. Just not as good as I hoped. Also, never played the old Fallout games.

Final Fantasy 7. THIS IS THE ONE THEY MAKE THE BIG DEAL ABOUT? FF8 was sooooooooo much better.

Mario 64 (the DS version, to be fair). Controlled like shit.

Phantom Hourglass. Fun, just not when you're in the main temple going through the same puzzles for the 4th time.

[HEADING=1]NONE OF THESE ARE BAD. JUST DISAPPOINTING.[/HEADING]

Also, I like Fable 2. Because my expectations were very low. Which means that I enjoyed it more for what it was, than what it was supposed to be.
The big bold red lettering was pretty much the winner here..
I loved F3 + TESIV (claim in the title of God's Gift to Man) and many people didnt like them.
