I'd call your definition being a "Good Man".

Hmmm...
Your right!
Damm!
That fits me, I would defend my loved ones with everything I have.
Well, I hope you get the chance to have loved ones to defend, if you do not have them already. :)

Whats the point of responding? Life is to short to waste time on idiots. Find better people to hang with.
This. I have found plenty of peers who would rather play with my D20 than talk about the latest football game.

The obvious answer is a quick man-check. For the un-initiated, a man-check is when you punch another dude in the nuts because he's acting like a woman. If he squeals and passes out, success! They're still there! If not, you and your new acquaintance need to have a long discussion about his or her failed operation.

Oh my darling! I have loved ones to protect.
But my sword cannot stretch towards them all, and that makes me sad.

I don't know why anyone is arguing. Playing sports and playing videogames are both very manly. You're a man as long as you fight the good fight against Communism. Anyone can do it, from the comfort of your home, to on the go! As long as you don't give in, you're a man.

For me "manly" is a another way to describe " Néandertal".
And last, watch the movie "Idiocracy" just to confirm that fact.
I find that the simple question "Did you ever see Idiocracy?" stems these kinds of situations in general.

Usually people that have that kind of tunnel vision where they can't comprehend anything outside of sports, beer, & strippers are overcompensating for something: homosexuality, small penis, or they could've just grown up in a household full of women and that was the only way they felt they could decisively identify themselves as men.

You could try to explain to them that in 50 years or so, when the people born before videogames are all dead and playing videogames has become the undisputed norm, people will look back, and think of them as absolute retards, along with the people who thought TV was the work of the devil.
Wait... So my lord Satan didn't appreciate the 100 TVs I donated to the orphanage?
Damn.

I'm not really all that sure, I've never come across someone that thinks that way, I'd imagine it would anger me though.
nah not good enough message...now a brick to the face much more efficient.

OT: Wooty has ninja'd me

Wait... what? You tried to please Satan by being nice? Oh wait, I see.

No, he was probably not very happy. What a wacky misunderstanding: In trying to please the dark lord, you accidentally commited an act of selflessness. Hahaha! I'm sure he will see the humor in it.[sub]Give me a heads-up when the boils start breaking out all over your body.[/sub]

So, tomorrow, I'm going to opera rehearsal after my classes, then I will get laid by my girlfriend, and probably raid with my World of WarCraft guild while watching baseball or ESPNews.

Tonight, after choir, I will be playing StarCraft II while watching MNF while my favorite team is playing. These people are idiots and not worth your time.

Luckily for me my girl likes videogames too. :)
*High Fives* Me too! It makes life so much easier.

OT: I know a lot of people like that because as well as gaming I used to play a lot of basketball but I found that just by ignoring them they tend not to say/do anything else (it got worse for me when I tried to do defend it)

If it bothers you that much, tell them they are just ignorant sheep and carry on with what you enjoy best. If it doesn't bother you as much as you're letting off, just let them be ignorant.

There is always going to be people out there that learn about a stereotype, and go around thinking it's the only way you can view someone/something.

As for the guy on the radio, just laugh at him. Whenever there is some one that goes around spouting "I'm a man, I like women and sports and I'M A MAN DAMNIT!" It usually means that deep down they are either,

1) Extremely insecure with themselves to the point where they feel the need to act out in this manner.

2) Have not evolved passed primal thinking. This is when a person falls back on the basic principals that they are an alpha male in a pack of wolves. This means they are just simply not intelligent enough to realize that there is no real need for this kind of behavior in todays society.

3) Since you said this guy only starts acting this way when it comes to video games, he's probably hiding a deep dark secret that he himself is a gamer as well, and for whatever reason is afraid of acknowledging this in the eyes of the public.

Trust me, there's a lot more to this behavior than what meets the eye, for no one acts this way JUST to be a dick... It goes a LOT deeper than that.

So there's this guy on some radio show I listen to who, whenever anything that involves video games(or animation, comics, sci-fi, fantasy, or whatever remotely related), is mentioned, he always answers with...

"I don't watch/play/read that stuff... I like girls... I like sports... I like ESPN..."

Basically, everything else not sports related or involves real women to this guy is not manly... its all kids stuff...

People in my daily life are starting to say similar lines and its starting to piss me off...

So, Besides ignoring them (or turning the radio off), What is a good response to people who think that everthing you like is not "Manly"?

How would you respond to these "manly" people?

Laugh at them until they walk away.
