Stealth levels in non stealth games - Ok so I've just spent the last few hours shooting every bad guy I see but now for some inexplicable reason I have to put my guns away and sneak past these guards or I fail the mission.Piss off

Quick time events in cutscenes really make me angry (If you don't know what it is, its the 'Oh no! Something's happening press x!' that pops up on the screen during a cutscene). When I am watching a cutscene I want to put the controller down and pay attention to the cutscene. I mean, have our attention spans become so thin that we have to have buttons to press while watching a cutscene? Its rediculous.

So what do you think is the most annoying feature of any game?
Health regen in God of War? I don't recall this, except upon multiple deaths in the same spot.

Annoying features though:
Could it be annoying by omission?
Like any FPS - they should allow a third person mode so you can actually see what the hell is going on around you, instead of walking around with no peripheral vision. Yeah that's my vote.
Can you view life in 3rd person? No? Then shut up!

Lack of split-screen and a co-op campaign. I'm looking at you Bad Company 2.

- Ice levels (or anything with slippery floors)
This. Frictionless ice pisses me off so much. It's one of the most bland and frustrating things you can put in your game. When you get right down to it, pretty much all frictionless ice puzzles are the same. You just slide around in a room, crashing into walls until you accidentally stumble into the exit. Sometimes they make you push some blocks as well, but that's about it. It's not challenging or entertaining, but rather incredibly tedious. Yet for some reason video games, JRPGs in particular, continue to carry these puzzles around like a rotting corpse. Why? I have no clue. I've never met a single person who likes these. I can't imagine why anyone would like these. So the fact that people continue to use them baffles me.

Worse is when you're walking through a lengthy dungeon filled to the brim with these, and one o the last ones i so big that it doesn't even fit on your screen. Then you can't even properly plan a route across and just end up guessing.

I really hate how they decided to start of Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker with one of these. You get your sword, then they take it away about 5 minutes later. Who thought that was a good idea?

Having to do missions where you have to escort or please someone, yes GTA IV I'm talking to you. The other person either races off infront so you lose them or they day, or they're so slow you lose them/they die/or you die in real life or they're just miserable and unpleasable.

-Borderland's Press X to pick up item. Hold X to use that item right now. When your fighting monsters and looting at the same time Press and Hold turn into the same thing.
- Unskippable cutscenes.
- Miss a shot start the mission over.
- Stupid Quicktime events. Press X to make cake.
- That one annoying character you cant kill and drives you nuts.
Yup, except for the last one.

You'll have to live with the annoying ones, I'm afraid. I don't think they'll multiply but if they do...

No but I have peripheral vision. ;)

Yes, but the FPS is supposed to be "more realistic". Also, if you like third person games, may I suggest either The Saboteur and Assassin's Creed 2?
?

Claptrap in Borderlands yelling "I'M OVER HERE" every 0.000000002 seconds at the start of the game, I swear to God I almost hit my monitor with a plank in an attempt to pan his face in.

Quick-time events need to eat some lead paint and retard themselves out of existance. I'm also not fond of escort missions, but especially escort or protection missions where you have to escort or protect that person JUST FOR THEM TO DIE IN THE FOLLOWING CUTSCENE. God do horror games do that a lot.

Oblivion's scaled leveling, I do not know why anyone would consider such a self-defeating system a good idea.

Also, Valkyria Chronicles not letting you see enemy units until you start the mission. I understand that keeping units around to observe the enemy is part of the strategy, but at least let me plan my unit choices beyond having a token engineer and sniper.

To end this, [OBLIGATORY COMPLAINTS ABOUT ESCORT MISSIONS HERE].

Unskippable videos, right after a checkpoint. Indiana Jones for the Wii is appalling for them - if you screw up and die a lot, prepare to see the same 3 minute cutscene over and over and over when you respawn.

Any AI buddies that do nothing but get in the way or get killed. InFamous, Uncharted, and Red Faction Guerrilla had me growling at people standing in my way that I couldn't kill. Playing Red Faction the other day I actually had screaming civilians running into my swinging hammer.

Escort missions are always annoying. No babysitting in games please.

[sub]FPS realistic - HA![/sub]

You misunderstand. I want FPS games to offer a Third person view point.
Wholly TPS games are also bogged down. Poor aiming in comparison with FPS.

Combine the two and all of a sudden - shooter type games become tolerable. Amazing that!

I could be arsed to play Saboteur or Assassin's Creed 2 (though I do hear good things about AC2). Not my type of game.
Got Modern Warfare 2? Try the 3rd person mode online.

I admit, I find your idea very intriguing. This feature was something I enjoyed in Fallout 3. But this would be an incredible undertaking and would take thousands of hours of programming and millions to make. When they make a game like that, I'll fucking pre-order it. Until then, I will continue to enjoy my first person shooters.
