It was the Christmas of 1999.Twas the 24th of December and we were opening the gifts. Then suddenly my mother goes to the kitchen. She brings a wrapped box for me and my sister. We opened it together. And in it was a PlayStation 1.We had never heard of the PlayStation. But with it came a few games. We plugged the PlayStation into the Television set.And then we put in a game called Rouge Trip:Vacation 2012.After that i was hooked.Me and my sister spent the entire Christmas vacation playing 2 player Rouge Trip.

I didn't really get into gaming till I was about 8 or 9 when my parents got me a new (at the time) PS1 which came with a blatantly obvious second-hand version of Tony Hawks Pro-Skateboaring 1 and Medievil 2.

Got a Gameboy Advance soon after that and my gaming has expanded ever since.

The Nintendo Entertainment System was the first one I owned. Got it when I was about 8 or 9 ('90, '91), and was immediately hooked on The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy.

I think my first videogame played was on the Atari or Commodore 64.

It was a long time ago, but it went something like this...
*wavy Arthur-like flashback effect*
It was Christmas and I was 6, Pokemon was all the rage. My generous grandpa gave me the great gift of a Gameboy Color and Pokemon Yellow. I was confused, thinking that down arrow in the dialogue box meant to press down, but after that I had my first real experience with gaming.
*flash-forward within flashback indicated by "3 years later" subtitle*
It was Christmas again when I was 9, during the sixth generation of consoles. The last box, among the bigger ones, contained a Sega Genesis with Sonic's 1 & 2, a Madden game, Tazmania (I think), the X-Men game, and the Stargate game. My parents claimed that they ordered an SG-1 game for the Game Boy Advance but somehow got the Genesis one based on the film. Anyways, I played the Sonic games and fairly soon after asked to get Sonic 3, which I played some before on a PC port. I got it one Friday when I came home from school and loved it even more than before.
*wavy flashback transition to present*

And that's how I defeated Robo-Nixon with the help of Super Saiyan Roosevelt and that Gundam Zombie-Reagan gave me in a suspicious manner. Wait, what were we talking about?

It was Christmas of 1988. The NES was a sort of gift to the whole family, but that's bullshit because we all know the kids would grab ahold of it. We got the Power Set, the bundle that included the console, a multicart (Super Mario Bros., Duck Hunt, and World Class Track Meet), two controllers, a Zapper, and that stupid Power Pad that nobody ever used. I think we played World Class Track Meet maybe a total of 3 times before rolling up the pad and forsaking it to the Closet That Time Forgot. The game that I logged the most time on was Duck Hunt. I never really got to play much on the NES because my older brother hogged the controller all the time. We got the SNES a couple years later. I spent more time with that, enjoying Breath of Fire, Chrono Trigger, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and several others.

I'm looking over my shoulder fondly at that old NES. It still works, and I've only ever had to blow out a cartridge once in the entire time we've had it. Tetris is my current addiction on that system. The newest game system I've played on is a PS3, and that was over at an acquaintance's house.

I played now and then at friends' houses, but things didn't really start until my best friend got a Playstation with Crash Bandicoot 2. He had Gran Turismo as well, but I quickly got tired of driving cars uneventfully in circles. Crash, though, stuck with me, and I later got a PS1 mainly so I could play that game. Later, I got a Game Boy Advance (largely for the new Crash games being released on it), and a Gamecube, which was when I realized, with The Wrath of Cortex, that Crash had been sold to people who had no idea how to make it like Naughty Dog did.

As time went on, I got into more games, more genres, and started seeing games as a storytelling art. Now I'm just trying to catch up on the classics and afford the new ones despite college. Ah, college... you sucker of time and money...

I can't remember if it was Banjo Kazooie or Ocarina of Time that got me into gaming. I think I played OoT first, but Banjo Kazooie was the first game I had on my Nintendo 64.
