Video games with enough story depth and lore that could be made into a t.v.series?

Most RPGs qualify, being generally very long, episodic and character-focused. Really any franchise can fit- if you're lacking in lore and depth you create the depth by adding new meat onto the original framework.

Given complete control and heedless of how it would sell, I'd want to see a CGI Mega Man reboot, at least as dark as Transformers Prime. The conflict between the new generation of robots and humans is very much like the progressive rights dilemma X-Men made its main subject matter for decades.

Arcanum. That's my answer to everything though, and it probably isn't even true. It has a good premise though. I'd watch it.
Damn it, that's one I definitely forgot about. An Arcanum TV series would be absolutely delicious. The media needs more steampunk. While I'm at it, Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner might as well be made into a short anime series since the pieces are already there.

I can't really see Fallout as a TV series though. To me, Fallout has always been more focused on the individual and exploration. The wastes are interesting, but I can't see how it would work and still be Fallout.

A lot of these games would work as limited series. KOTOR, for example, could probably would within one season rather than one big movie. A LOTOR like trilogy also might take too long.

I'll say Alpha Protocol (before, during, & after the events of the game; namely, AP's reformation or hunt for Thornton or something afterwards).
Wouldn't that bear a lot of resemblance to Nikita?

OT: Fallout. So, so many options. I'd have it focus around either the slavers or Arefu during their struggle with the Family. Possibly Brotherhood of Steel soldiers as well, but I'm less sure about that.

Warhammer 40,000 and Fantasy. It wouldn't have the deepest story but I'll be damned if it doesn't have the 'deepest' lore.
I had an idea to make the Horus Heresy a series of one-hour animated (I honestly don't think it would work otherwise) episodes.

As said, Halo and Bioshock would make amazing live action TV shows.

I'd like to see a Command & Conquer Tiberium series. The cutscenes in the games are live action anyway!

I wouldn't mind if Assassin's Creed was made into a t.v. series. As a matter of fact, Ubisoft had made a short series for Assassin's Creed 2 and it was actually pretty entertaining.

That's what I think would be sensible too, anything else would be far too expensive. And who is that in your avatar? Just curious.

Persona

Though they kind of already did that.

Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX

They are all lengthy and have a solid story set in a unique, well thought out environment. Sure, there are some plot holes that need some fixing (especially FF VII and VIII), but there's definitely enough to work with here.

Though I think FF IX would be the most feasible in terms of solid and conventional storytelling with enjoyable characters. The only problem I could think of, is the budget needed to recreate all the dazzling spells and backgrounds.

TimeSplitters

A short series with a new era each episode. This could become something in the line of Stargate or Sliders.

I kind of suprise that on one said WOW. Sure I know nothing of their history/ lore etc but I pretty certain that it's huge.
Also a Guild Wars TV series is something I would watch for sure.

I've always dreamed of seeing a more fleshed-out TV series of EYE Divine Cybermancy. It had interesting lore but was let down by shit telling and bad translation.

I hesitantly suggest one based on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. but it would have to meet a middle ground between "Roadside Picnic", the STALKER movie from the eighties, and the games.

I think that there i only one possible answer to this question:

Does this actually exist...Should it?

OT: I think that the Total War series could make for interesting television. It would have to strike a nice balance between politics, the intricacies of running an empire, and the actual tactics of battle. There would also be no problem of it being "too smart" because there would be plenty of large-scale battles to provide action.

Grand Theft Auto 4, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire....

You can see why I'm choosing open world games. Each mission and such could be an episode or something like that. It's very translatable to TV.

Mortal Kombat, well it was made into a T.V series called MK: Conquest, pretty much in the same vein as the movies only with a Shao Kahn who was actually decent.

Gaunt's Ghosts, told in an HBO series like Band of Brothers. You know you want that.

I know it's heresy but I've never read the books before >.>. I should and even though I haven't, I know a bit about it so I can agree with you. Tanith 1st and only am I correct?

First and Only. If you are just starting, I recommend getting one of the Omnibuses. The first three novels are bound together in the collection called The Founding. The next omnibus is The Martyr (I think), and the The Lost.

Definitely worth checking out.

Thanks, I will. Heard a lot of good praise about it and frankly if it can be Bob'd it's bound to be good.

Resident Evil. If the show actually fallowed the plot of the games and used the real characters. There is enough material to be worth several seasons.
