Anybody who says that video games cause violence needs a swift slap to the face so he can drop back into the world of the perfectly normal and sane. Saying that pressing a button to kill somebody can relate to pulling a trigger in real life is bull. Also, saying that games "train" people to kill is ridiculous, especially if the person was killing via a rifle. Games cannot train you to become a marksman, let alone a sniper.
Video games causing violent behavior... Slap in the face... Hmmmm....

Soemone attempted to convince me that consoles have better graphics than PCs.

My counter: "So you admit that the violence on consoles is more graphic, and thus makes you a more violent individual than a PC gamer?"

He then screamed that he wasn't violent and punched me, so I got him suspended. Revenge is sweet.

We've all heard the old sayings: "Video games will rot your brain!" "It'll make you violent!" etc. One way or another, a parent has tried to persuade you to not play video games. What is the most unbelievable or outrageous saying you've heard come from playing video games?

For me, a friends mom had told me that video games had actually melted her cousin's sister's son's eyeballs out. That source was as reliable about gaming as Fox News. I haven't seen many blind nerds around lately, so I don't think she's right.

If you've been skimming, what is the most unbelievable or outrageous saying you've heard from a parent that would come from playing video games?
Videogames can apparently give you cancer, according to some Christian groups -.-
I can understand that if you spend too much time playing them (guilty as charged) the electroradiated waves could alter cell structure within the brain or body and cause tumours, but videogames themselves giving cancer?
Tv's, microwaves, and computers are more likely to give you the cancer.

There's also the idea of tangential learning when looking at video games.

And here it is, if this is what you were referring to.

I believe you misread my intentions, sir. The slap I meant was more like a slap you give someone who is going completely ape-s**t. Say a friend lost something very important to him, and he's going insane, running in circles, yelling "Oh, S**T!!!" repeatedly. But you try to tell him he put it downstairs and he forgot where he put it. You try to tell him that he left it downstairs, but he won't listen because he's so crazed. So, in order to ground him back in reality, you slap him. Then he pays attention to the fact he left it downstairs.
That's what I meant by "a swift slap to the face"
